T34 - The Battle. Only game I could think of to test that needs extra memory at the time. -

Personal preference. No reason to keep it on there. One of those, "Can I do it?" situations. I tried. It worked. -

Ok. Guess I'll just deal with the delay... Thanks for responded Jurgen! -

Yea, for my use, I am not concerned either way. The lack of the extra 48K isn't going to disrupt my needs. -

Future plan is to place a USB SIO2PC in the RF modulator location and drill some activity pass thru light access openings on the top of the case for power and transmission signals. Simple yet effective internal vs. external. -
Been a lot of trial and error with this project. Goal was to have compact design with the power of the 130XE (and more). Goal achieved... Had to create a slight flap on the shield to allow the ANTIC chip to fit with raised expansion board. Used some insulating tape to protect from the keyboard. I also went with a 5/8" hole for the composite DIN instead of a 3/4". Seems to be a lot closer to original power hole and would rather be slightly smaller than slightly larger. Ended up using the DIN connection from a salvaged 130XE board instead of the one that came with the kit as the 130XE was an exact match to the 600XL power DIN design. Internal aesthetics, I know This unit already had a 64K upgrade, but that is causing boot delays, so I am planning to go back to the stock 16K set-up to hopefully remove the delay. Since the 512K does not need to use the 64K onboard, I have no issues reverting back to 16K.

Some new (not really) hardware made by tfhh

UPDATE: Removed RF Modulator, installed the 512K expansion board and the Best Electronics DIN composite kit on my 600XL. Still testing it out, need to drill DIN out hole on case and re-assemble, but it all came together... Thread on small issue with the video mod kit: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/279718-best-electronics-jeff-popp-600xl-video-mod-issue-during-install/?p=4048469 -
Well ain't that interesting. OK! Sounds good. I'll install it and see what happens! I honestly had no issues with the entire process until I got to the R134. Then I just skipped it and finished the rest. The kit did however come with a 200 Ω for the chroma, but no 75 Ω for the luminescence. I didn't have plans for that part of the mod anyhow, so no cares given.

For some reason the kit came with a 20K Ω resistor instead of a 10K Ω resistor. 10K BROWN, BLACK, ORANGE, GOLD 20K RED, BLACK, ORANGE, GOLD Location of this resistor is R134 and is the last one I need to solder in place for the mod to be complete. I am not familiar enough with resistance to know if the 20K will cause any issues due to higher resistance. Pictures just because...

Will this work with any RS232 capable DVD player? -
Check to see if 5 volt is passing thru SIO. Only thought...

Some new (not really) hardware made by tfhh
NISMOPC replied to tf_hh's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
The 800XL will not close even with the shield OFF. I already used a Dremel to cut a flap in the shield and tried both ways (with and w/o). The 600XL I was able to remove the RF modulator last night. What a PITA that was. The four mounts are soldered securely in there. I've ordered the kit for the 600XL to add DIN output via Best Electronics. It's all good. I will get them both to work. one way or another... -

Well, I feel like a total idiot now and I should. I was so excited about the product(s) I never took the time to read the details of v4.3 or look back at previous posts regarding the v4.2. My apologies Jurgen - Was not meant to be a negative against you. I still stand behind all your products. Build quality is outstanding. -

This sucks that I have to post this, but bringing bad news is never fun. I received the v4.3 short while back and just now got to installing it in the 600XL. It doesn't fit. The NTSC RF modulator is right where it needs to sit. ONLY option on this one is to remove the RF and go to a full DIN out modification. Not what I wanted to do. At least not in the near future. I also had the v.4.2 (which did not fit in 600XL, but I kept to install into my 800XL) and installed it in the 800XL. Well... doesn't fit either. I am unable to put the top with keyboard back on. There is about a 1/4" gap due to the height of the unit. This is without the heat shield installed. 600XL w/512k expansion v4.3 800XL w/512k expansion v4.2 -
Any chance an NTSC version can be set up...?

Doesn't the alarm play "Aura Lea" ??? If so, that's the same [email protected] watch I had when a kid and jumped into the swimming pool with it one summer. Needless to say, it wasn't waterproof. ha... ...was so upset I destroyed that watch. NICE FIND!

Are F18A video boards still available anywhere?
NISMOPC replied to NISMOPC's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Interesting I even searched within the TI-99/4A Computers forum before googling it and had no luck finding any posts. I must suck at using the search function... ...thanks for the confirmation and I'll send email. -

Great news! Thank you... (if by chance you are starting a buyer list - please put me on the list for one) -
Just curious. I searched around the web. Saw that codehackcreate.com is out of stock and has been for quite some time. I'm definitely late to the game, but am interested in purchasing one. Appreciate any and all input. Thanks! -Brandon
