  1. It's an amazing soundtrack. TT knocked it out of the park. I don't remember anything at the time being close. It sounds great even today. Bringing things back to the VCS, if I've been messing with emulators for over 20 years and still run into roadblocks every now and then, what is Atari thinking by telling people they can use Sandbox Mode to get their own emulators? Sure, we all know that is what it could be used for, but if you use it as a selling point, you're kind of on the hook when buyers can't figure it out.
  2. I hear ya. This is my first experience with Emulation Station, and I'm not impressed with it at all. I eventually muddled my way into figuring out Retroarch, but sheesh. It would be nice if you could just run everything through the stock menu like you could on the SNES Classic. 32X seems spotty on Retroarch, but I got Sega CD up and running. I played Terminator just to hear that amazing sound track.
  3. There's something to be said about benefiting from low expectations. I'm in process of modding my Genesis Mini at the moment. Take notes, Atari.
  4. Oh, Atari would absolutely sue them. Either that, or make them pay a 35 thousand dollar licensing fee. If I had a small company and was trying to get a new product to market, I'd be thrilled with all these vendors selling stuff with my lego. If I was Nintendo, certainly not, but people selling vintage style t-shirts and hats might be the only marketing campaign the new VCS system has. Instead of thanking them, Fred's course is to sue them into oblivion. As bad as Atari is with tech, they are utter buffoons when it comes to business.
  5. I think they're supposed to be a little more subtle about the fact they're preying on people's nostalgia.
  6. This is why people don't respect the new Atari. It's not because they're French, or because we're sentimental. They simply have no understanding or respect for the legacy of the IP they acquired. These social media snafus are just cringe inducing.
  7. Last helpful response on the IG page, or anywhere?
  8. No one got a VCS under their tree. It's possible you'll get one for Easter if the Easter Bunny shops the clearance section. On a side note, it's interesting watching the IG backers get testy with each other. Some of them clearly know this thing is DOA. Some of them are expecting remasters of classic games, exclusives, and a marketing campaign. It's amazing how people can have such wildly different viewpoints about the same thing.
  9. I'm thinking a retrospective since every day seems to be entertaining than the last.
  10. Gun. Went out once with a crossbow, had some good opportunities, but wasn't able to make anything of it. I don't have a muzzleloader, although it's definitely something I'm considering for the future. My gun safe is full, so there's that issue.
  11. Which is why I think it's a good thing this system is finally going to be released soon (allegedly). It will help the backers to move on. And on that note, in the spirit of Christmas, I'm declaring a moratorium on bashing this system, the company making it, and the supporters. From 0000 hours on Christmas Eve until 2359 hours Christmas Day, EST, if I don't have anything nice to say about Atari VCS, I won't say anything at all. Although if Atari does release another holiday press release like they did on Thanksgiving, this is going to be a difficult promise to keep.
  12. Ground venison, and yes. Standby, it might become chili instead. I'll have to thaw out a few more pounds for tacos.
  13. Man these people are reprehensible. How much of a judgment are they seeking?
  14. What partners does Atari have? I don't remember anyone announcing a partnership.
  15. This is what I still don't understand. I've seen a lot of supporters tout this feature. I've done research on blockchain, but I'm still in the same boat you are. I don't understand the draw.
  16. I'll be making deer tacos later this week if anyone is interested.
  17. In fairness, if they deliver a functioning system you can load existing emulators on it, that wouldn't be the worst product in the world. The problem with that is that anyone who is in need of such a device probably already has one. You can get a Playstation Classic for under 30 bucks if you look around, and emulate all kinds of stuff on that. The SNES, Genesis, and a few other plug and play systems can all be hacked easily enough, so I don't see the point in Atari using "Sandbox mode" as a selling point. Still, if someone really wants an emulation box that is made by Atari, I guess this would be up their alley, assuming everything else is up to snuff.
  18. I don't think anyone's been attacked that hasn't asked for it. Is it childish? Yes. Do I feel bad about partaking? Also...yes. But at the same time, when people attack other people for pointing out fraudulent behavior, they open themselves up for all kinds of derision. As I've said REPEATEDLY, I'll discuss the issues I have about this system with supporters in private message. No takers, even though they talk about me in their not-so-private private club. That's because they enjoy the drama. No big deal. Again, I don't remember anyone on this website being attacked.
  19. Ummm...define "complete a-holes". I've put out an open invite to discuss this system on DM, but certain people enjoy the theatrics. Odd that people get mad about us publicly bashing this thing, but never want to discuss it in private. If he's mad about the meme I used him in, maybe he should try actually debating people over comments made about YouTube videos, instead of just accusing them of being paid shills, which is ironic. Anyway, I really hope Atari is about to let this thing fly.
  20. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. I love new technology. What I don't love is: 1) Unethical business practices. 2) Junk technology getting a famous IP slapped on it to market it to unsuspecting customers. For the record, I'm only responding to this post here because I can't respond on the IG page. I don't recall anyone getting hit with hate here, especially for posting facts. Maybe try again?
  21. Can someone please explain to me what Brandon is talking about?
  22. Is it wrong that I'm morbidly curious to see this thing launch? You've got all these backers expecting to be able to buy perfectly emulated Jaguar games for 99 cents, and Atari's basically telling people they are on their own in terms of finding games to play on the system. I imagine once the system is released, there will be gloating and we'll be mocked by name on the FB group. In some ways, I envy the backers. It's an exciting time for them. We all have those holy grails we go through life chasing. In my adult life, in terms of material things, it's been different guns, a certain car, and of course, video game stuff. It's exciting to get that new thing and find out it was worth the wait. Although sometimes, the quest is more rewarding than the goal, which I would think will be the case with the VCS. I'm not really sure who I blame for this. There have been plenty of warning signs, and Atari has been careful enough to be vague about what the system's future will bring. They kinda cherry pick what details to emphasize, which isn't exactly pro-consumer, but not really illegal. It's been quite awhile since they flat out lied, so I guess that's something. Probably Atari's biggest fault is selling a beloved name on a terrible product. The VCS is going to be the Rise of Skywalker of the video game market. It's a terrible product, but nostalgia carried it a bit. But then again, as much as I feel sorry for the backers who are about to see their dreams shattered like a pumpkin thrown from a moving car at a mailbox, a lot of them are guilty in keeping this dumpster fire burning. Being a fan is one thing, being an internet brown shirt is another. Some of these guys shilled so hard, you'd think they were getting paid to do it. I assume they're not. These guys got quite nasty in defense of a company that is going to send them an empty box in apparently over a month. What these guys fail to understand is that brown shirts were expendable. They gave 300 bucks to a band of IP pirates that could barely deliver a speaker hat, and expectly a revolutionary gaming system. When people were skeptical, they lost their minds. So, I don't know who's to blame. You've got a user/abuser and you've got an enabler. I'm curious to see how long the backers keep supporting the system once it hits and Atari's promises see fruition.
