  1. I believe I found a mistake on the list, there is a number listed as 83S DA 019474 093 and there is one listed on eBay that is 83S DA 019474 083
  2. I just picked this one up on eBay. I can't read the stamped number after the serial number; it appears to end in 3 but that is a given.1200XL Label A1200XL Label A
  3. I jumpered every contact on the MB that appeared to be damaged and the drive is working. Now I have something that I have to keep close to home. It is something akin to one of the old 1960s cars that I owned; I could start it and operate it with no problems but someone not familiar with it's quirks would likely get stranded somewhere.
  4. I will contact him, I would be willing to purchase a bare MB, but I don't want to purchase the whole drive.
  5. I badged it as an XL1035, sold it on eBay, and it was destroyed during shipping. It was heavily wrapped in bubblewrap and surrounded by styrofoam panels. It appears to have been dropped on one end or one end was slammed into something that didn't move. The rear panel was cracked and the rear of the motherboard was damaged. Since I don't have a spare MB, it is probably beyond restoration.

  7. I have partially disassembled my 804, and DS1(1-8) switches are easily seen, where are the second set of dip switches (DS2 (1-4)?
  8. I have SMM 804 and it works but not correctly. I tested it with the Last Word and it prints, but it indents the first line about two inches and when it gets to what should be the end of a line it drops to the next line and starts printing where it left off without executing a carriage return. Is an issue with Last Word or is it a hardware issue?
  9. If you can tell that from a photo you have pretty good vision.
  10. I found something that works as well as the conductive paint. It is called "wire glue". It contains carbon and it seems to adhere to the mylar better that the conductive paint. It has about the same consistency as the paint. I bought it with the intention of gluing the mylar finger joints to the the keyboard finger joints but I decided to use it to repair the connectors instead.
  11. I recently downloaded several ATRs; specifically Summer Games A.atr, Summer Games B.atr, Winter Events A.atr, and Winter Events B.atr. When I copied them to my S-Drive they showed up as URLs instead of ATRs. What is going on.
  12. Where can I find an ATR of RealDOS and SpartaDOS. Nevermind, I found them.
  13. I did that earlier. I might do it again just in case.
  14. Pictures of the working board (it has the heat sink), the non-working board, and cables. I use the same ribbon cable with both boards.
  15. I am using a Mitsumi mech that works perfectly with a different reimaged PCB. I know there is something amiss with the PCB.
  16. Yes, there is a disk in the drive. There is obviously a failure to communicate.
  17. I have a reimaged XF551 PCB that isn't working. When I turn on the disk drive it does the normal move to track zero. When I turn on the computer, I hear a couple of clicks like it is going to boot, then I get a screen that shows info about the OS developer, (Dorndorf) an error message (16). That tells me that the board is making some communication with the computer. Where should I start in my efforts to correct the problem?
  18. I could badge it as XL551, I had XF315 badges made for my converted SF314.
  19. I like the 1551 idea. XL 1551 or just 1551
  20. I am also fitting a Mitsumi 503 mechanism with a black face plate into another empty 1050 case. I haven't finished it but when finished, I will have a 1050 DSDD disk drive.
  21. I had it made at a trophy shop. It cost about $10. I took in the 1050 name badge that I had completely flattened out and told them to make the new one the same size. I put the bends on the ends. I haven't glued it down good enough, I am going to get some contact cement for that.
  22. When Dropcheck introduced the new and improved XF 551 PCBs, I bought 4. I butchered the first one that I attempted to populate by soldering in the wrong components and then destroying some traces in the desoldering process. Two of the next 3 turned out OK so I had two working 551 PCBs even though they were the old type. I finally used one of them along with an empty 1050 case to create a 1035 disk drive. I had to do some modifications to the bottom case. I glued some pieces of wood to the bottom case so I could secure the PCB and I cut a rectangular hole in the rear of the case. Afterwards I made a fitted a piece of plastic over the rectangular hole that had cutouts for the SIO connectors, power supply, switch, and dip switch. The switch in front is a dummy but the LED indicates power on.
  23. My SpartaDOS X cart has stopped working. Where can I get another one?
  24. I bought a Mitsumi 503 5.25" drive mech and I had a spare XF551 MB so I am going to install it in a 1050 case so I will have XL styled DSDD drive. I have just finished installing a 3.5 mech in an XL case. I'm just waiting for the 1035 label I am having made before I post pictures.
