I know about the resistor swapping and I haven't tried piggy backing the RAM but I will.

I have picked up another non working 130XE. When I turned it on I got a blank screen so I tried the Star Raiders Cart. This time when I turned it on, I got a blue and white screen with many characters appearing and disappearing on the screen. I thought this might be an antic problem so I removed the ANTIC put in a socket and tried another ANTIC. When I turned the computer on I got a green screen and it was the same with or without the Star Raiders Cart. I then looked at the old antic chip and noticed that I had pulled up the solder ring on pin 16. Does anyone know where the trace from Antic 16 connects. I will have to remove 3 or 4 chips to follow it. It appears to go completely underneath the OS ROM chip, I can't tell if it goes completely underneath the BASIC chip or not. I don't have any schematics for the 130XE.

Does it matter to this drive whether or not a downloaded program is single density or double density? I have been trying to run a particular program that I know is double density and the ATR will not load from my Sdrive.

Atari 80 column software/hardware
hueyjones70 replied to hueyjones70's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I can't figure out what I am doing wrong with the Atariwriter+80. I have downloaded the zipped file, extracted the ATR, saved it to a micro card for the Sdrive, when I attempt to load the file the computer makes two of the clicking noises that indicate loading a disk then nothing. I have downloaded several other programs using the same process and on the same card that work flawlessly. I have tried on a 130XE and an 800XL with the same results. Any suggestions, is there another source besides the one in this forum (post#37). I know that others say they have successfully run the program on real hardware and Both of my computers will run the program from an actual disk drive but the ATR is giving me no joy. -
What do you do with your SIDE2 ?
hueyjones70 replied to Stormtrooper of Death's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I just recently purchased my first side2 cart and don't know much about using it. I know I will have to read a lot of posts and watch some YouTube videos, but what goes into the top of the cart? -
I just tried a SF314 drive with a mixed parts board and the hyper XF B and it worked. Loaded DOS 2.5, loaded a file. I had tried it earlier with no success so I took the mech out of the case so I could see is the motor was turning at a reasonable speed. There must be some pinched wires of maybe a bare wire that is grounding on the case so I have some investigating to do.

I know that my sample size is statistically insignificant, but I started buying 354s and 314s as soon as I knew the PCBs would be a reality and I bought 5 354s and 1 314. None of the 354s have a 34 pin connector; so I wouldn't expect to be able to use the board on a 354. I am going to try to fit a standard 3.5 inside a 354 case. If that is possible, my investment will not be completely wasted.

Old Atari SF354 --> HxC Floppy Emulator
hueyjones70 replied to Xebec's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I am hoping to use an old style SF354 with one of Dropchecks new boards. I have a 34 pin connector from an older version 551 that had individual wires instead of a flat cable. Has anyone verified or used this pinout? -
Atari 80 column software/hardware

Thank you Kyle22 for reminding me that not everyone on this forum actually is interested in being helpful and sharing information. I do know what google is and I did google Omniview XE ROM and although I was provided with much information, none of it pointed me to a way to achieve what I wanted to achieve. It is much the same as is someone said "I need to know how to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner" and you replied "google turkey". -
Are there any written instructions for using the SIDE2 cartridge and/or the U1MB upgrade. I know there are a couple of videos on Utube but written instructions are much more helpful.

I was able to copy a couple of disks that I really wanted using MYDOS.
-
I have some auto boot disks that I would like to have on 3.5 floppies just to see if it can be done.
-
Can you use the DUPLICATE DISK command to copy a 5.25 disk onto a 3.5 disk?

First it was a bad cable then the cardedge adapter, now the problem is solved. The 3.5 mod is working thanks to everyone for their observations and tips. Especially stargunner. -

Are the 74LS38N and 74LS14N compatible with the 74LS38P and 74LS14P? -

That could explain some things. -
Will a 5.25 drive work with the Hyper XF version B EPROM or do I have to change EPROMs everytime I try out a different configuration?
