You can't even watch a fucking AVI file on your xbox without being logged in. Our ADSL and NBN have been so poor they disconnect when it rains. This means we literally get locked out of our own devices. Fuck modern technology. Seriously. Fuck this.
IMHO the question is "Is a piece of technology making your life better?" If so, great, enjoy! If not, rethink the cost of using it (time, frustration, expense, etc).
You make it sound like the general modern electronics industry locks you out of stuff in this way rather than microsoft being a fairly big exception to the rule...
