Hi everyone,
Just picked up the aforementioned SD Multi-Cart second hand and it did not have the original SD card. The atarimax forums look abandoned and I'm looking for the original cvsdos.sto file that is needed to boot the cart. I did searches and dug around there with no luck. Does anyone have a functioning link with this file or can anyone copy it from their working cart? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No. The suggestion is to use a black magic marker and gently “paint” the edges, which is what I did on my Lynx 1. Looks great.

Hey everyone - unfortunately I have to part ways with this colecovision. Its a Canadian version (NTSC). Comes with two working controllers that Ive taken apart and cleaned. Theyre fine.
Also comes with a Super Action Controller. Its working in an acceptable manner. The white rocker panel that is supposed to go above the metal contacts was cracked when I bought it. I removed the cracked rocker panel and bent the metal pins up, so it works ok but needs a new rocker panel (which can be 3D printed) or it can be used for parts.
Finally, the console is in working condition. The case is pretty clean and labels are in tact. I was getting some rf video noise, so I took it apart and thought the rf port had a cold solder joint, which it turns out, it did. However, there ended up being other issues and now Im getting significant noise and poor picture quality. A composite mod should do the trick, but since I have no coleco experience, Im going to leave that to the experts.
Either way, the sum is greater than its parts, for sure. I just honestly dont have time to learn the workings of a new console.
I would also entertain trades for another clean ColecoVision- dont need controllers or power supply. Would prefer it modded - could add cash to deal.

So is there a difference between simply placing the 4 port bios chip in the two port and buying the EPROM that was mentioned? Will the four port chip work to restore functionality for those three games?

I believe thats accurate. I would add that if were doing mods to these systems, the likelihood is that we also have the 2600 as well, and probably hooked up. Nice to have for prosperity, but would you really use it?

Hi everyone. I know there were a few games that wont work on the original two port BIOS. Console5 had sold some replacements, however they told me they had quality issues and dont have any currently. Question is can I simply swap out the 2 port BIOS chip for a working 4 port BIOS chip?

Sorry for the late reply, but I wanted to ask the question here, as its the most relevant topic. I have a two port and want to update the BIOS to the four port. Console5, based on convos I had with the owner, said that their chips were defective and are in the process of sourcing better chips.
That said, can I replace the 2 port BIOS chip with any standard, working 4 port BIOS chip? Just want to be sure before I take the time to pull out the current chip. Thanks

Yes, I saw that on his response on the UAV thread (which needs to broken up, because DAMN it's long). At any rate, in my opinion, he's doing the Lords work by creating relatively simple solutions for the archaic machines. He seems to be the only one. I hope he and his situation improve soon.

Thats exactly what I did. The expansion plate is tricky, though, as its some of the only free space available for ports but obviously moves around a lot. For mine, I put the power there and the AV next to it. Ill have to find some pics from when I did it. It was a while ago.
But yes, it was tight putting the case back on after soldering the uav to the 4050. The first time I only soldered a few pins but I didnt like how unstable it was. The second time I basically soldered the whole thing on. Lol.

It should support both composite and s-video. The s-video pins are brought out to the header. I just have never tried the s-video output as I don't have an s-video capable TV anymore.

I would love to do this mod, but unfortunately I have time constraints with my job and family, etc. Have you thought about possibly manufacturing these (or building these) with all the components already soldered on? I'm obviously not familiar with how you've had these built, but with no other 5200 mods currently on market (i did some digging, there aren't), I bet they would sell like hotcakes (if you wanted them to). I would certainly pay more for that work already done, mainly because I don't have every single component in my tool chest here at home and would take forever and a day to source everything. I'm sure most people would feel the same. Just a thought.

No kits, but I do have some pcboards for a composite mod that sits between the GTIA and its socket. This was based on low_budget's design in one of the threads here.
I believe Shawn has built one of my video mods here, and might have some experience to share with it.

I had a similar issue with the 5200 uav mod I did, however, I was able to get it to go. It was tight, esp doing the power mod at the same time. My 5200 performs well and I dont mind composite. Only one of my TVs has an s-video input anyway.

No doubt, but family comes first, as you said. Loved the simplicity of his solution - to put the uav directly on top of the 4050, solder it in and done. Im just surprised nobody else has come up with a mod.

Hey everyone, Ive done a few UAV Mods on some four ports and they work perfectly, however, I understand Bryan is away from the hobby currently. I did some digging for alternatives around here and found Crossbows reference to http://electronicsentimentalities.com/Assembled%20Mods.html, however it appears he is also going through a rough patch and is no longer providing kits. Does anyone know of anyone else making 5200 mod kits?
