  1. Hey crossbow, I dont have raster, but I installed the UAV with the AC and PS conversion all at the same time. Using my AtariMax, playing Frogger for some decent music reproduction I do not notice overdrive or distortion. I have the picture stretched from a composite mod to a 60 plasma and it looks fantastic. Sounds like not a lot of people have Ac Modsed their 5200. BAA3A29F-E4C8-4E31-B6DA-81202FED331A.MOV
  2. Hi Crossbow -- I just recently modded two 5200's with the UAV and AC boards. I personally left the 4050, soldered the socket on top, then inserted the UAV. While it's a little wobbly, it works perfectly. While I may eventually go back and pull the socket off and solder directly (if i run into issues), so far I've had no problems. Also - these two UAVs were from the most recent batch (i believe). Sorry about the sideways photo.
  3. Forgive me, as I'm new to this thread and I am about to purchase the McWill Lynx LCD replacement for the Lynx I. It's quite an investment (~$150USD), so I want to make sure I understand what I'm getting into. I have some decent soldering skills, but I've not had the best luck modifying handhelds due to the size anid my fat fingers. Are there published instructions on how to install the new screen on the Lynx I? Additionally, can the LCD be replaced by itself, or does the VGA mod need to be installed as well? Forgive my ignorance -- I haven't owned a Lynx in 25 years. Thanks for your help and patience!
  4. Hi everyone, Im looking for a solid, functioning Lynx II with battery case and decent screen. I would love to buy from someone on here, as I trust it more than eBay. Or if someone has a game/console bundle, even better. I have Wico sticks, slik sticks, a UAV modded 2600, tons of 2600 and 5200 games, and possibly a restored Sears heavy sixer with cx-10s (one with a Sears hex sticker). Let me know what you have. Thanks! Brian
  5. Well, I cant delete the post so please close it down and Ill post it to the correct sub forum. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  6. Hi. Im interested. Will Pm. Thanks

  8. Disregard the post above. As an exercise, I went and completely replaced the UAV with a new unit and, voila, it worked perfectly. I then installed the AC and now i just need to drill the holes for the composite jacks. I'll take the UAV that you see above and use it on a 2600, since it seems to work on 2600's.
  9. Hey everyone, I was going to start a new thread, but I found this one.. Hopefully someone here can assist. I have been in the process of upgrading all of my "player" systems with the UAV Rev D and the AC. Finished up a nice 6 switch and a 5200 with a power mod as well, both work perfectly. I got to a 7800 today (that I purchased online - going to eventually sell my current 7800 with an older mod) and the 2600 cartridge color is perfect, but I'm getting no color from the 7800 cartridges. At any rate, I highly doubt it was factory like this (however, i have little experience with the 7800), but the color adjustment pots for both the 2600 and the 7800 were glued into position. I thought that might have been the issue, but when I cracked the glue off and adjusted away, nothing happened for the 7800 side (although the 2600 pot still works fine). After speaking with my good friend DrVenkman, he suggested using the color out from the MARIA vs the resistor. I did that to no avail. I then took off the old pot for the 7800 and replaced it with one I had lying around, thinking maybe the pot was bad from the glue that was used, but even the replacement pot didn't help. I should say that the video quality, even in B&W on the 7800 carts is superb, so the MARIA appears to be functioning, just not sure why I'm not getting any color. You can see here, following the UAV instructions by RSS Bot in the UAV 7800 thread here http://atariage.com/forums/topic/273826-the-uav-blog-install-uav-ac-in-the-7800/?hl=%2Buav+%2B7800, I initially used the resistors to pull the color. Here are the glued-down color adjustment pots. Here's my attempt pulling the color from MARIA pin 43, but no difference in color, with a new pot. Anyone have any idea as to why I'd not be getting any color? I just double checked before posting this, and after I pulled the power from the UAV and used the RF cable, the 7800 is producing color on the 7800 carts. Could the issue be the RF modulator? Do I need to snip that? Anything else I should check? Thanks everyone!
  10. I can't believe how expensive they are. I get that they are rare because they popped off and people threw them out.... I'm just surprised so many people care about them. I guess it's a completist thing.
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm currently in the process of restoring a really beautiful Sears Tele-Games Heavy Sixer. It came to me with both CX-10's and original paddles. The console needed restoration, which is now complete, and the joysticks also needed some work but are now functional. As you can see I have one of the discs but the other was lost somewhere along the line. I know these things are stupid rare, but if anyone happened to have a junker heavy laying around and you have a spare hex disc, please hit me up. I'd love to complete this set. Thanks! (sorry, don't know why the photo is sideways - can't fix it).
  12. Bumping this up. I know Cosmic Commuter and DD are a bit tough. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
  13. Hi Everyone, Looking for the following carts... I know they're around here and there, but I'd like to buy them from as few people as possible. Let me know what you have and what you're looking to get out of them! Thanks everyone! Commando Cosmic Commuter Double Dragon Kung Fu Master Pitfall II Rampage River Raid II
  14. To the best of my knowledge, he wasn't recommending pulling the 4050, rather soldering the socket onto the 4050, then inserting the UAV into the socket. I know on the light-sixer tutorial he made, that's how he recommended doing it, and that's how i've done it on both my light sixer and two different 5200's.. At that point you just need the video feed in, ground it, and composite out. I've not done an S-Video mod with this particular board, however, the video quality is so good with composite that I haven't felt the need to go through the extra hassle.
  15. Thank you to whomever edited/posted the updated games list 12/7/17. It's wonderful. I then used Drivesort and it worked perfectly for whatever issue the FBP was having with the way it was initially sorted. Can the files be sorted by LFN prior to zip? At any rate, I've had my device for over a year, and while I wish the screen was slightly bigger and the unit a bit more robust, I really enjoy it. It's great for playing on the crapper or in a car.
  16. Hey, thanks for the info.. I had thought of that and considered it a real possibility, but didn't want to go through the hassle of removing that damn ribbon. Do you know of anyone that has any of that style ribbon (new old stock or salvage) for sale? I doubt Best would since only the heavies used them and I couldn't find any on ebay. Thoughts? Thanks!
  17. For those of you that are looking to install the Audio Companion board in a 5200, I ran into something I thought I'd share. I installed my UAV board and the video quality was fantastic (composite only). I intend on doing a power mod in the near future, but until I do, I was going to use the existing RF cable mounted to the PCB to power the console. I completed the wiring, turned it on, and was getting a very loud, low level hum. I used the RF pins to power the Audio Companion board, so initially I thought it might have been sharing the pins with the RF modulator board, even though I wouldn't be using it. I had a feeling the issue was with that cable. So what I ended up doing was pulling the RF cable off the PCB, then using the remaining RF plug on the board and used a thinner RF cable to plug into the power adapter. It worked like a charm. Audio and video are perfect. If you'd like photos or videos, let me know.
  18. Of course, appreciate the response. It's a very cool mod. I bought the one from console5, but i'm not sure it's the way i want to go.
  19. This is a very cool power mod, but the AC mod to which I was referring is the Audio Companion board by Bryan. What i'll probably end up doing, as suggested by Dr Venkman, is just solder it in to either the RF +5 and ground or off the 7805, depending on where I want to lay the board down.
  20. Pardon my ignorance, as I'm a newbie with the 5200... At which cap are you referring? I assume you're talking about the C129/C130 area in the back right hand corner? Would you be able to pinpoint which point is the +5 and which is ground there? The schematics for this are obviously a lot more complicated than the 2600's i'm used to. Thanks!
  21. Hey everyone, Where is the best place to put the AC board on the 5200? I have the first release 5200 PCB and I know i'm looking for a spot with +5 and ground nearby. Anyone have recommendations of where to put it? Thanks!
  22. I purchased two of the power mods (as I'm currently installing two UAV's with AC on a 5200 as we speak). I'll post photos once everything is done.
  23. Yeah, I know how it is sometimes, though. This is a forum not a facebook page, where it shows up on people's feeds while they're sitting on the shitter. I did end up having to jump pin 1 to pin 11 and had to replace the 7805 and hard wire it in to the next solder points on the pcb, as all the pads were lifted. It isn't pretty, but it's working, and that's all that matters.
