  1. Had another run. I'm still rusty, but now I remember why I don't like SI Deluxe.. it's too hard! I don't like that the invaders split on level 2, and the shots come down a lot faster on level 2 as well. SI Part 2 had a much more casual difficulty progression :)

Anyway.. I kept making dumb mistakes. 8900 is my score after 2 tries tonight.

    .INP file attached as well.

    Showoff! :D

  2. JellE, here is how to add the artwork to MAME OS X:

-Go to your home folder (whatever your login name is)

-From there, go to "Library" -> "Application Support" -> "MAME OS X"

-Drag the invaddlx.zip artwork file into the "Cabinet Art" folder

I have no idea how to crop or disable the bezel art, however. If someone does, please let me know.

Also, in the MAME OS X directory above, the "Screenshots" folder is where in game screenshots get dumped when you use the F12 key to take one.

Okay... I did this.. still no color... maybe I broke it. I have only been using MAME OS X for a few weeks.. so I don't know all the ins and outs of it yet. I have only been using a MAC, for about 8 months... so I am still learning about all this nifty stuff. Is there a setting on MAME OS X that I need to set or something I haven't found to actually make it work... or should it work after putting the artwork in the app support file?

I just did it myself, dropped the artwork file in the "Cabinet Art: folder, and next time I started the ROM it worked. Make sure you aren't using the ROM that NE146 posted a link to; it has the exact same file name as the artwork zip file.

Edit - I see you got it working :)

  4. I talking to some of the guys over on PCEngineFX.Com and they felt for a loose Magical Chase you are looking at.....

    $80 to $100 for a U.S. copt and about $40 to $50 for import copy....Maybe. I hope this helps. :)

The game been going for quite a bit more than that on ebay recently.

Does the game have much in ways of language? It's a shooter, so I am wondering how much the game experience is changed by having the local version vs. the import version.

I've never really looked into it until now. It looks gorgeous.

There are slight differences between the two versions, but language really isn't an issue. You can't play Japanese PC-Engine games on a stock US Turbografx, however.

  5. I have sold my entire inventory of 10,000+ games. The good news is that I have retained the GDG name, website and the domain. So, Good Deal Games will remain operating but as a hobbyist site. Currenlty, sales will only be the GDG releases (GDG brand items such as our Sega CD and Colecovision games, audio CDs, et cetera) and the new upcoming GDG will be a website with a HOMBREW focus. So, instead of selling 10,000 items for all systems, we will carry, say 100 items, that are mostly homebrew, rare or anything else that tickles my fancy. No common stuff, etc. We will also still carry the magazines I write or do artwork for (ReVival, Video Game Collector, Video Game Trader, Hardcore Gamer, etc. ) as well as all book releases I'm involved with by Leonard Herman.

Again, a KIND and SINCERE THANK YOU to all those that have crossed my path over the last few years.

I will still be "be on the scene" so to speak, just with less bulky games ;-)

Good to hear! Will you still go to the occasional game show? CGE, TMG, etc?

  6. channelmaniac,

Did you come up with a price for the board?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what company did you use to make the PCB's? I've been looking for a good place that will do a smaller run of small boards at reasonable price but can't seem to find any.

  7. I've traded successfully in the past with phil_vr. This time I bought some systems from him, and it worked out great. Without me asking, he shipped out my stuff before he got the money order I sent as payment. He also packed everything very well with care. I highly recommend him as both a good seller and trader!

  8. Hey,

Anyone else think it would be reall cool to have plastic cart protectors like the ones that recently came out for boxes? Myself I know I could use around 100 of them :)

    Shawn

I would opt for plastic baggies instead.

What I would want though, would be a box protector sized like a regular atari box that has a tray or something to hold a cart, a place to securely keep a manual, and possible even cover or spine artwork. I think this would be great for the homebrews and repros that are often sold without boxes.
