  1. Thanks Al, didn't realise you could edit messages after they had been posted - excellent (especially taking into account the amount of mistakes I make )

I'm not sure about the XC12 datasette - I origionally had a 1010 datasette with my first 800xl but that went the way of all kids computers - in the bin when it broke

I've only recently got back into the retro computer groove and somehow mnanaged to bid on quite a few duplicate items on yahoo and ebay which was a bit silly.

I now use a SIO2PC lead supplied to me by j131 in Poland (excellent service for this btw, if anybody needs his email i'd be happy to supply it) and my laptop so the 1050 and XC12 are no longer needed.

  2. Well, i've finally taken the plunge and ordered one of these babies (after managing to nab an Atari 800XL and 1050 drive for £65gbp ) and I am awaiting delivery. What I want to know is, how easy is it to write .atr images back to floppy using this cable? What is the best software to use (APE I presume)?

    Thanks in advance

  3. Many thanks for the swift replies guys, unfortunately, the lead and APE are a bit out of my reach at the moment due to my successful bidding on Ebay for a few retro items - still can't manage to get a 1050 or 810 drive tho'

I s'pose i'll have to work a little harder to get Ape

  4. First of all, i'm a newbie to these boards so please be gentle ;o)

Having just decieded to get back in the 'retro' computer groove, I bidded for and won (yay!) and Atari 800xl (first ever computer I owned). I also bidded on a 1050 disc drive (never had one of those - sob!) but got outbidded, so I read a bit of info regarding APE and from what I can gather, APE plus the lead would allow me to run ATR (got loads) disc images from my PC drives? Where can I obtain one of these kits? Thanks in advance for any help
