Thanks to 1050 for helping me to diagnose the problem in private messages. We traced back that strange 12V reading on C42 to pins 1 and 2 on the Freddie chip. It was sending out insane voltages and that chip appears to be the problem. I just hope that the chip didn't take anything else out with it.

I don't see C42 in the Sobola schematic. I also have a power switch on this thing that doesn't always turn on. You have to rotate it to just the right position and press it in for it to turn on. Let me know if anyone knows how to fix that.

You're right. I meant to say the SALLY chip. It was set to DC voltage when I measured.

My logic probe is showing pulsing signals on the OS ROM chip so I assume that means it's good. All of the chips besides the two 8-pin chips have some pins with pulsing signals. Doesn't that indicate that they're working? I think the two 8-pin ones handle keyboard input or something, right? What about this 12V signal on my multimeter? Could that be a bad resistor or something?

I picked up a second XEGS while I continue to repair my original and get parts and things. That one had bad RAM and a bad STELLA chip. I accidentally pulled up some copper traces getting the STELLA chip out that I have to fix. Oops. This one has a red screen. The power supply tested fine. Using my old, not very trusty analog multimeter, I get a strange reading of about 12V in this circled area. I'm still a beginner at learning electronics (I just started a class on it) but that isn't normal, is it? What could be the problem here? Everything else seems fine. I believe all of the chips are working after testing with my logic probe.

The autofire does work on the PC Propad. It's a great gamepad. I liked it so much that I bought an extra for my PC.

I messaged Curt Vendel about it but he has yet to reply. So bid at your own risk. We aren't really sure where this thing came from.

Does anyone know anything about this? Weren't these only available in black?

I have one of these. The problem was that it did quad rendering (like the Sega Saturn) and it only supported Direct3D in software rendering mode. I remember using it for a long time just as a sound card along with a Voodoo 2.

I don't have any logic probes or oscilloscopes. There's absolutely nothing happening on the screen after I hit the power button. There seems to be no video signal of any kind or sign of any change when I hit power or reset.

I picked up a broken Atari XEGS on Ebay as a learning project for working on my soldering and desoldering skills. It has a completely black screen with no sign of video or audio activity. The RAM chips were heating up so I replaced those. The RAM chips stopped overheating but other than that there is no change. I still get a completely black screen. The power supply checked out. It seems to be completely fine. It's outputting 5V just like it should. There isn't anything unusual on the motherboard besides my poor job on the RAM chips. What would likely be the culprit here? Is there anything else I can check for or do I just need to start replacing chips?

The thing that got me going was that some of them had these odd lines inside of the cartridge like a 3D printer leaves and some small scratches. Am I just being paranoid here?

There isn't much to see. They're just normal carts without a dust cover besides the water stains on the manuals and some damage inside the boxes that were supposedly sealed. I feel safe to admit that they're probably legit carts that were re-shrink wrapped.

I don't think it's a good idea to smear any sellers when it could be me who's in the wrong. It looks like that may be the case.

Was there a Phoenix cart with a 1988 date on the label without a dust cover? Should I delete this post? You guys are convincing me that these are legitimate.

Maybe it's just the South American carts like you guys are saying. They seem very "janky". I mean they just look like normal carts without dust covers. I was a bit suspicious because some of the manuals had water stains when these things were supposedly sealed. Maybe they just re-shrink wrapped them?

This is a normal grey/red label Phoenix. Why doesn't it have a normal dust cover? Why do none of these fit into a normal Atari slot? Why is the Jr. Pac-man so poorly made that it won't even fit into the slot? I've been collecting Atari games my entire life and I've never seen anything like this kind of poor quality cartridge.

I bought some of these sealed Atari 2600 games (some from Venezuela) after reading on the forum that they're legit. A sealed Phoenix, Kangaroo, Jr. Pac-man, and Road Runner. Looking at the carts myself I can tell you that these are not original Atari carts. These guys are selling some cheap repro garbage that won't fit correctly into an Atari slot. The Jr. Pac-man was the worst of the bunch. It's not even correctly aligned for the slot. There is also the dust cover. There is none. Well there is something in the bottom that looks like one but it doesn't retract like a real Atari cart. Avoid any sellers from Venezuela. These are not new old stock. These are fake/repro carts. The worst part is that I actually bought a couple of these from other sellers on Ebay. Other sellers are buying these things and reselling them probably thinking they're real.
