  1. I built my first spinner for a MAME panel some years ago. I went with an opticoder rather than a pot. It was pretty sweet too - machined the whole thing out of stainless steel, pressed in sealed bearings, the whole nine yards. Later, I wanted to play Discs of Tron properly, so I built another one, but this time with the proper up/down motion to correctly control aiming. This time I went with a black anodized steel knob and machined all the guts from scratch out of black delrin. It works, but I never got around to finishing the rest of the panel, so it's sitting in a box somewhere.
  2. People also mix in Colecovision carts who just don't know any better. They're very similar in size and people tend to think "looks like an Atari cartridge to me" Happens all the time on Ebay.
  3. Got these on Saturday. If they're fakes, they are VERY good ones, because they certainly look real to me.
  4. I remember beating this fairly easily and wondering what the big deal was at the time.
  5. Big clean pictures. Nice to see - most times you'd think a seller was on a trampoline with his camera.
  6. Time for another shot in the dark at crossing some of these off. Atari 3-D Tic Tac Toe text (purple text) 3-D Tic Tac Toe 1986 picture (controller text taped out) Battlezone 1987 gray (controller text omitted) Berzerk 1985 (Atari Corp, but with correct controller info & "audiovisual" text - PAL) Bowling 1986 picture (controller text omitted) Flag Capture 1978 picture Indy 500 picture (controller text taped out or error) Maze Craze picture (any Atari Corp. re-release) Miniature Golf text (silver end label text) Outlaw picture (any Atari Corp. re-release) Coleco Any French label (except Donkey Kong or Zaxxon) Imagic Wing War INTV Frogs 'N' Flies Tron Apples & Dolls Jungle Hunt Pole Position Smurf . . . or any NTSC label variation not in my collection.
  7. Just marketing BS. No different than pretty much every DVD having "special edition" or "collector's edition" on the box, regardless of how vanilla it is.
  8. Probably more convenient than wearing rubber gloves to handle those things.

  10. I list mine out separately like that in my db - much easier for a label variation freak like me. I once proposed that "Atari Inc" and "Atari Corp" be listed as separate companies in the AA db, but a cool reception ensued.
  11. What AA lists as "standard" came first, "blue" came later.
  12. Exactly. I collect these things because I get a kick out of it, not because I'm looking for a solid investment.
  13. I don't have scans, but it exists - sskatari2600 (ebay id) has one. I've been trying to get him to sell it for years!
  14. How about: Atari text label Space Mission Atari text label Space Combat Atari Berzerk '82 picture label-yellow main label text Atari Berzerk '85 picture label-blue main label text I only know of one each of these. There are plenty more on my list, but I can't confirm their existence.
  15. Just curious what everybody thinks is the most irritating oddball cartridge case design to deal with in terms of the storage/display of your collection. Obviously, this only applies to loose collections. edit: Supercharger cassette added to poll. I should have put that in there to begin with - sorry.
  16. Alphabetical by manufacturer, just like the list in my sig.
  17. Mastertronic made some really great games for the money, but they were some of the hardest games I've ever played gave up on in my life!
  18. No emulation - I have a Jiffy-DOS'd SX-64 standing by in the closet, so that's simple enough to hook up when I need a fix. Times of Lore Legacy of the Ancients Legend of Blacksilver World Championship Karate Bruce Lee Dino Eggs Good times!
