crunchysuperman replied to Scott Stilphen's topic in Atari 2600
Thanks again, Al. -
That's a good unit - I have one of those.

Another bump. It's a little bit of a drive for me, but I'd make my way up there.

I don't have a way to dump the ROM, but I'd be happy to send it to somebody who is wiling to. -

Well, they can't be all that uncommon if I found one that easily. (Actually I didn't even notice the age of the thread) -

Wow, that's a bit of a surprise. $1k isn't unreasonable. -

crunchysuperman replied to Scott Stilphen's topic in Atari 2600
Found one! Plain jane '81 Atari label, all caps on both labels, "234" stamped on the end. All my other 15 or so copies have the initials. This one was among my piles of trade bait. I dunno if it means anything, but somebody may have had it open at some point - the screw is exposed (although the end label is undamaged). -

The latency is still to high to play, but it works now! -
Indeed. Those of us serious enough to buy it already know about it. You're not gonna find hardcore collectors on Ebay that aren't already reading this thread. I would have put up big $$$ for it until the "100's" comment came up. Now, I figure I'll just wait and see if more surface. Anyway, congratulations to you, nagn2!! That is one truly excellent find!

Great news, Rom! Thanks for the tons of work you've put into such a great site! I guess I should be seeing if I can get you any more scans as well.

Box Art - Who did What? Database Please!
crunchysuperman replied to capcomarthur's topic in Atari 2600
Welcome to AA, Capcomarthur! -
I like it that way! Looks kinda "hotrod-ish" to get rid of the logos & lettering.
-
I don't collect boxed games either. I have a few here and there, but label variations are my bread & butter, so boxes don't really concern me.

Rather ornate for such a purpose. :class:

Compiling lists of Atari, Corp. (re-release) label variants
crunchysuperman replied to Christophero Sly's topic in Atari 2600
These lists gather information about the many label variants that were produced during the Atari, Corp. era (1985-1991). Only one label (Combat) with an Atari, Inc. copyright currently appears on the lists. ok i see. so why only that era and not later or earlier eras if you dont mind me asking? so if i think i have a new label var, it first has to say atari corp or be 1985-1991 then? A few of us are really fascinated with that era in Atari history. More than the early days, the Atari Corp. era was full of really bizarre label variations, changes & omissions - I suppose due to the quick & dirty methods they were forced to use in order to remain cheap enough to keep operating. So, we decided to make some scans & keep a list, as no one had kept up with it before. If there were enough bizarre Atari Inc. labels, that might be worth a thread as well (but there aren't).
