  1. Looks like it's printed more off-center to the left. Who knows if that means it's a new printing, or if it was just cut incorrectly. The color is a tad different, but I don't think it's enough to warrant calling it new.
  2. Found an interesting re-release on Ebay - a 1986 Combat! (well, sort of). The box is, as you can see, full-color and not the b&w type that most all re-releases were. But notice that the "Warner Communications" text is missing below the Fuji on side 1, and sure enough, side 2 reads "1986 Atari Corp." There is no mention of a 1986 box in any variation listing I can find. On to the cartridge inside, the label is identical to the last 1978 version released, but it's stuck on a type-3 cartridge - the style without the dustcover! Here's some comparison pics with the 1978 release (with locking dustcover) on the left, and the re-release (no dustcover) on the right. If you look, you can see the "holes" on the upper main area of the type-3 re-release cartridge where the label usually ends up getting punched through. This is better shown in the bottom pic with the view of the pcb side (sorry for the fuzzy photo, but you still get the idea) I completely forgot to scan the manual, which is indeed the b&w copy I was expecting. So, while this isn't a new label style that I was hoping for, it shows that more Combats were indeed produced alongside the other Atari Corp re-releases. I suppose they must have had a stockpile of original labels on hand to use, otherwise I don't see them printing up more "Atari, Inc." labels after they had changed the name of that division. Makes one wonder if they had enough of these older labels to do the whole re-run, or are there in fact some more re-release Combat cartridges out there with new "Atari Corp" labels on them when they ran out? And for those of you who care not for re-release variatiants, we now proceed with the "it's Combat - who cares?" statements, already in progress . . . . . .
  3. Here's the 1986: and here's the 1987: The 1986 version has a sliding dustcover, while the 1987 release has none at all.
  4. I don't know if the 1985 PAL Outlaw mentioned in this thread was ever posted or not, so here it is. Notice how it kept the "label, program & audiovisual" text that is, to my knowledge, absent from all other black Atari Corp re-releases.
  5. I picked up another one. This one is 1987 and missing the controller text. I'll put up some comparison scans tomorrow.
  6. You want the really oddball one, find the one with the copyright text on the end label, but with a white "23" on the main label.
  7. NTSC & working with good label. Loose is fine.
  8. I describe and photo my items to the best of my knowledge and complete truth Wow - even he doesn't know what's inside!
  9. 1) How old are you? 35 2) What sex are you? Male 3) When did you get an Atari? 1981 4) When did you become involved with the Atari? (i.e. you wanted to play this over newer systems at the time or today). Originally in 1980 from a friend who had one. As of later years, around 1998 or 1999 when I discovered label variations! 5) Why the 2600? What does it offer to YOU that other systems, whether old or new, don't? Everybody else had one 6) What drink keeps you going? (in case you spend long hours on the 2600). Anything in the fridge. 7) How many hours a day or at a time do you play the Atari? Not so much as all that - 1 hour a week, if that. How many days a week do you spend on it? See #7. 9) Your top 3-5 games. WHY these choices? Fast Food - pure frantic, arcade fun. Adventure - one of those games you love as a kid that sticks with you. Moon Patrol - sometimes that tune gets stuck in my head 10) Do you play any other systems besides the 2600? Yes. 11) How do you view gaming of today as compared to the 70's/80's? Most often there's too much "wow" factor and no gameplay substance underneath. 12) Do you usually just play the 2600 alone or have someone play with you? (If so, is it a relative or friend?) Alone. 13) Finally, do you or have you ever tried to turn someone to the "Atari side"? Oh yes - with some measure of success!
  10. Spotted it in an auction. This was one of the few re-releases for which I scour every instance of their titles appearing on Ebay. This one was easy - like you say, the missing controller text is a giveaway, but the copyright line at the bottom is also different even when it's out of focus. One of only a couple of re-releases to have the exact same picture. One the subject of the Fuji logo, I noticed the other night there are a couple of re-releases with no logo at all!
  11. Woohoo - SCORE!!! . . . and this is an '87 label that wasn't in any list I've seen. So, now I gotta find that '86 version - maybe it'll have a controller misprint.
  12. Here's the best part: "CD-ROM IS ORIGINAL - NOT A COPY - ARTWORK FOR ILLUSTRATION AND MAY DIFFER - CD IS COPYRIGHT TO THE PUBLISHER OF THIS TITLE. ITEM IS NEW, SEALED AND ORIGINAL" ALL TRADEMARKS ACKNOWLEDGED
  13. Here you go. http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/consoles.html
  14. I've got a couple of "Tiger Vision" cartridges. I have a (loose) X-Man, and a MASH/Mouse Trap multicart.
  15. Agreed. But, I would outbid you at 6 bucks! 1018241[/snapback] Damn, too rich for my blood!
  16. Looks to me like some of the Asian/European bootlegs - they gotta be PAL.
  17. No, but check his other items - he's got: Goufer Peetfal Pukkmen Termool Spaidder Fight Autolaw F18 vs. Aliens (my personal favorite!) Commbet Barzack
  18. Just a simple Access database I whipped up.
  19. I've had stuff shipped to me over the years from Australia, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, China, Netherlands, Mexico, Brazil, UK and Canada and nothing has ever been lost - not once. So, don't be paranoid - order away! Besides, it's fun to read the local newspapers folks sometimes use to pack things with. Interestingly enough, of all those countries, Canada usually takes the longest to get here.
