Not very exciting there! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA 855321 It was exciting Fonzie cleared the cans and crashed into a hamburger or chicken stand, everyone rushed over to make sure the Fonz was not dead, a real nail-biter

I got Alien a couple weeks ago myself and best I can figger the flamethrower is just for looks as it never does much when I use it I love the game though, it's probably the best Pac clone they had back in the day, I like it better than Mouse Trap and Lock N Chase.

Atari 2600s...Tanks of the game console world.
sandmountainslim replied to River Raider's topic in Atari 2600
Yeah, they are amazing, I have had my VCS since '82 and it still works like a charm, I even let some neighbour kids borrow it for a year when I got my NES around '87 and when I got it back I chunked it in a closet and didnt get it out until the mid 90's, worked fine then and works fine today. A wonderful piece of machinery -
what is your #1 most wanted atari 2600 item right now!
sandmountainslim replied to Rick Weis's topic in Atari 2600
I think I speak for everyone when I say the most wanted 2600 item right now would probably be the Fonz Hack http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69490 -
You most definately DO NOT blow goats :)The idea to have Hang On/Enduro as Fonz is one grand idea no doubt. This is a good start. I believe it was Nukey who said earlier that Enduro with the changing time of day removed and a timer added would be an almost perfect simulation of Fonz which would be so good he would go into eclipse as soon as he witnessed it.

You may ask yourself "Why all the sudden interest in a Fonz hack?" The answer isn't as simple as it may seem , first we have to look at the original coin op by Sega http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=F&game_id=7836 Have you ever seen anything cooler?? Of course not In 1976 nothing was cooler than big old video game machines except for Fonzie and Sega thru either marketing genius or perhaps the hand of The Lord himself decided to combine the two into what was to become the most legendary coin op of all time, however thru the years others became jealous of Fonz, they cried out in desperation "Fonz is outdated play Space Invaders" and other similar war cries, after almost three decades of assault and irrational prejudice against Fonz the game is almost forgotten not even available for MAME It is now time to end the madness and bring Fonz back to a population of gamers who have suffered missing out on its thrilling game play for far too long. Keep Hope Alive!! Fonzie will return If Sandmountainslim's talent were only in the field of hacking and computers instead of looking good and making a swell batch of baked beans the dream would already be reality but alas it is not so we await a saviour willing to risk all in order to rescue Fonz from obscurity and save the souls of a generation Who will this saviour be? Only time will tell.

Ok, another Pac Man mystery. Are the reputed "gold bars" and "screwdrivers" that show up on Pac Man just urban legends?? Could they really exist and only show up after you pass level 256? Maybe some of you folks know the answers.

Greatest Game of Golden Era
sandmountainslim replied to sandmountainslim's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I am surprised by all the response for Galaga, I like it alot but I thought Pac Man or Space Invaders would probably win hands down as they are really the games that started the video revolution And lets not forget the game that told all other to "Sit on it" Fonz -
Stunt Cycle '76 would be a good game variation on the Fonz hack Stan Jr. would fall all over himself tryin to hand out the awards.

Hack of Coleco's Venture: Level 3 implememted!
sandmountainslim replied to batari's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
Venture 3 is awesome! However I do think "Venture Arcade" would probably be a more fitting title -
I was at work today telling the secretary about the homebrew scene and AA in general and a coworker who is around my age (mid thirties) said "You mean you still play Atari? That thing was the shit years ago but why don't you get an XBox or something?" What gives with people?? That was sort of like telling a guy with a 57 Chevy to "Get a Hyundaii" Some folks dont know a classic I suppose

The 2600 version is "passable" I suppose, has anyone made a vector hack of Asteroids?
-
C'mon Nukes You can do it! I can imagine the jitters and butterflies it would bring to someones stomach thinking THEY had the awesome task of bringing an arcade masterpiece like Fonz to the 2600 scene I know you probably are thinking "I might screw it up and become Tod Frye" but I have faith in you! I have played your hacks and they are great. Don't let fear of failure stand in the path of your finest hour

It does look to be an overlay though I cannot say for sure. Does this mean you are after my fabulous prizes?

I had the exact same thought. KLOV doesnt have any screenshots but the arcade manual does describe some bits of the gameplay. Funny that it's measured in kilometers and not miles.... 851974 More Fonz info including screenshots for all future members of The Fonz Hack Movement http://marvin3m.com/arcade/fonz.htm

Here is some more info on Fonz including a "screenshot" http://marvin3m.com/arcade/fonz.htm

Ok , looks like I am gonna have to "sweeten the deal" a bit I am willing to throw in an unopened 8track tape titled "Fonzie Favorites" with a big picture of the Fonz on front to the brave soul who can pull this off 851264 I think you're less looking for a "brave soul" and more rather, someone who knows this game... or even better, has it. Neither of which is very likely at the moment. And even if they could.. how would you know if it's accurate or not. Have you played it? I'm a child of the 70's EM arcade and I've never seen this thing (or the game it's based on) either 852148 I have saw it , it was at the skating rink when I was around 6 or 7 years old but I havent saw/played it since I was just a motorcycle racing game in black and white so Im sure it wouldnt be hard to pass almost any race game off as Fonz as long as the sprites were changed to bikes. I can sweeten the deal no more the above prizes are better than what is awarded in most contests especially the unopened Fonzie Favorites 8 track Find THAT at Wal Mart

Please identify this 2600 Pac-Man game for me
sandmountainslim replied to chad5200's topic in Atari 2600
Yip, Nukey's Hack em/Hangley Man hack is without a doubt the best Pac game ever created for the ole VCS. The man is borderline genius -
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=F&game_id=7836 Fonz could someday be the greatest hack of all time as well as the greatest 2600 game of all time, unfortunately progress is being held up on this masterpiece by the lack of anyone attempting to work on it

I should have had "Other" as an option I suppose

Greatest Game of Golden Era
sandmountainslim replied to sandmountainslim's topic in Arcade and Pinball
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=F&game_id=7836 That is Fonz, one of the finest games of all eternity. -
What coin op do you think is the Greatest of the Golden Era? By greatest I mean judging by addictive game play and overall replay value.
