  1. Hi All, I have recently picked up a couple NES consoles at thrifts and both are missing the power supply, anyone know where I can pick up a replacement or if one of the universal power supplies sold at Wal Mart or Radio Shack would work? I currently have four NES consoles and only one power supply so any info appreciated

  2. Congrats on the score!! I have owned Kaboom since the early eighties but my vader didnt come with paddles so it sat there with Super Breakout until I bought a set in the nineties and it quickly became my fav game and is still one of my top five most played today, dont think I will ever see a score like that though.

  3. Can't wait to buy this cartridge when it comes out especially after reading Stanjr's description of it on his awards page, you say it will be for sale at Packrat instead of AA? I have never bought from Packrat before but I certainly will when Wolfenstein goes on sale, is Packrat as fast and accurate with your order as AA? If so I shall try to find their website and see what their selection of games is like.

  4. I dont believe the NES nostalgia has really kicked in around here yet cuz the cheapest I have saw a working 2600 was $35 and in the past month I have bought four NES consoles for under five bucks each, got one this afternoon for $1 after haggling the girl down from $2! However I dont expect prices like this to last forever

  5. Hi All, I picked up a handheld called the "Power Joy" at a thrift today and I assume it is a Famiclone however when I hooked it up and plugged the cart in the bottom I found it doesnt have NES titles like Mario but odd looking games called "Kittie" "Front Line" etc. plus several versions of Dig Dug and Galaga which is spelled wrong. Question is what are these strange games it contains, are they Japanese Famicom games or just something the Bootleggers made up? Any info appreciated.

  6. I heard where attaching a game genie to NES games would make the console work more reliably so I bought a Game Genie and that seems to be the case, question is I would like to put the Genie inside the NES permanantly and was wondering if it would work to cut the plastic grip/pull piece off of the Genie and just stick it inside the machine or does the plastic pull piece have something to do with why or how the Genie works, any info appreciated

  7. and its good news for you Stan! Beamrider has distracted me from Climber 5 giving you time to roll the score counter and win my Title Belt! Go for it before I regain my senses.

  8. Yeah, works like a charm, it didnt come with controllers or a power supply but I saved those when I chunked my NES yesterday morning so I am set up and OK as far as the NES goes.... but still a liar though, I should have asked the lady to give it to me for free ;)

  9. Well I have made myself into a bald faced liar! I said I would never pay for another NES yet yesterday I bought one at a thrift for three bucks  I couldnt resist it at that price especially with mine on the blink, hope you folks dont make me wear an "L" on my chest or change my name to "bigliar".

  10. Picked up Activisions Beamrider at a flea mkt yesterday for two bucks and talk about an outstanding game! Dont know how but I never heard of this one when I was a kid and didnt know anyone who owned it but after playing it for an hour or so I dont know why it wasnt one of the most popular games out there, excellent graphics and the gameplay is fast and furious, if ya dont have this one buy it!

  11. Thanks for the tips, I tried em and the POS still doesnt work for more than five minutes at a time, it is going in the dumpster come the morrow, I shall never pay for a front loading NES again, I will pay up to ten dollars for a top loader if in perfect shape or will accept working front loaders if they are free :x :x LONG LIVE THE VCS!!!!

  12. I have heard of the blinking blue screen of death effect of the NES but has anyone saw one that blinks red? That is what mine does nine time out of ten when I hit the power just a red blinking screen, any ideas what causes this or how it could be fixed? Oh yeah it does eventually work after a good beating/cursing.
