  1. Putting a lot more time into mine now I have an 8bitdo controller. Played Final Fantasy V for 10 hours yesterday on the living room TV
  2. This was the first game I ever played, the whole rock/paper/scissor boss fight aspect is silly but I love it overall and always have a great time when I play it.
  3. Not sure about other people but I dislike it because the gamepad is bloody awful. It's large, cumbersome, uncomfortable, has a rubbish screen and garbage battery life. I think it's required for navigating the system menu as well? It's been a while so I could be wrong on that. I do love the Wii U pro controller, it feels good in the hands and lasts forever on one charge. Overall the Switch executes the idea much better imo.
  4. It's not imo. it's not even worth buying a flashcart for systems like that, get the ball moving on your filmmaking and invest that money into a decent PC/camera instead.
  5. I always start lower when people ask me to make them an offer but yes, it was a bit low even for that. I did ask how much you were looking for but never got a reply. Osgeld, the Jr is the system I had as a kid so it holds a special place for me. I know it's basically cheap tat but I still love it. The 7800 is tempting me as well though so that could win out.
  6. Galaxian, I'm pretty bad at it though 20010 is my best score so far, I've got a long way to go.
  7. No option for 0? Hopefully I can correct that soon.

It's a shame really, I'd love a product like this but it is starting to feel like it'll never see the light of day.
  9. I'm looking for an NTSC unit shipped to the UK. System only, I don't need av/power cables or joysticks (assuming PAL joysticks work fine that is?). I know shipping will be high, I'm prepared to pay the extra cost.
  10. These lists are always so difficult but here's mine. Battletoads: Yeah it's cheap in parts but I love it. Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers: Super easy but it's my favourite Capcom game on the system. I always go back to it. Faxanadu: I love the world, music and gameplay in this. Journey to Silius: I discovered this one later in life and it blew my socks off. Kickle Cubicle: Devilishly hard and cute, this edged out Boulder Dash and Dr Mario to make it on my list. Micro Machines: Best unlicensed game on the system? I've played this game across a lot of consoles over the years but it's the NES version that I love the most. Ninja Gaiden: They got it perfect with the first game. Shadowgate: Crazy atmosphere, great music, lots of death. Fantastic stuff. Super Mario Bros.: My favourite Mario game. Super Mario Bros. 3: Better than SMW.
  11. Dosbox Game Launcher is my preferred way to launch games now, I like the way it looks and it's easy to edit individual games. D-Fend never did it for me personally. When I had a Mac Boxer always impressed me.
  12. I've been thinking about this all week and also reading Marie Kondo's The Life Changing Magic of Tidying. I don't think I can be as extreme as she is but it's given me the kick up the arse I needed. Both the Xbox 360 and PS2 are going as are all of my spare PCs/PC parts except for my Windows 98 gaming rig and spare Voodoo 1. I donated a ton of books, DVDs and clothes to the local charity shop today and finally culled a bunch of games I don't care for across various systems. I've gone from a closet filled with old computer stuff and three tubs of games to having everything I want to keep stored on my bookcase and shelving included with my PC desk which feels quite nice. I still have a PS3, PS4, Saturn, NES, SNES Mini and MD1/MCD1 combo hooked up to the main TV mind you. I'd ideally want three systems max connected but I'm not quite there yet. The PS3 and Saturn might go in the future. I actually am thinking of getting a small TV and PSX to put in my gaming room upstairs. I've got a small corner that would be perfect for it and could pair it up with a 2600 jr if I ever get round to buying one again.
  13. I think it's just a case of getting older, nothing is new or exciting anymore when it comes to retro gaming. I still enjoy it but I feel I should be directing more of my energy elsewhere. It just feels a bit redundant when I have a PS2 hooked up via my OSSC to a large LCD TV. I suppose I could purge literally everything and start over but it feels a little extreme. Then again I never do get round to playing on certain consoles even if I want to so who knows. I've finally passed the point of worrying about missing out with certain games now since it's inevitable so perhaps I should just get it over with and pair everything down.
  14. Unsure how I feel to be honest. I've burned through the nostalgia now and what I'm left with is more games than I'll probably ever get round to playing. I don't care about completing sets or whatever either, I just bought stuff I wanted to play. A return to late 90s/early 2000 prices would be nice but I'm past caring at this point, anything I buy will just rot on the shelf anyway. Part of me wishes I could start from scratch with something simple like a PSX, small TV and a copy of Ridge Racer for example. Something about that just sounds very appealing.
  15. This is something I've been wrestling with for a long time now and I don't even own anywhere near as much as that. I still haven't found the sweet spot.
  16. The SNES Mini is the first time I've gone 100% emulation with a system. I don't think I'll end up doing that with everything but I'm more open to it in general than I was in the past.
  17. Sometimes yeah but usually only when it comes to importing pricey NES games which doesn't happen too often. The shear amount of "repro" covers for the Mega CD on eBay UK has put me off buying a lot of games on that system as well.
  18. Thanks for posting this, that was really interesting and informative.
  19. Too many issues like heat I think and other options are available when it comes to games from that era. I'd rather just buy an Athlon XP personally.
  20. I don't think the GC is particularly amazing but it's always been the better system imo. The Xbox did have a number of Sega exclusives but that's the only reason I have any interest in it. I do wish a decent emulator for the Xbox existed, I don't want to hunt down such a bulky system to play those Sega games, especially since I'd need a modded console to play Rent a Hero.
  21. The Apple II seems so cool but they're pretty pricey here in the UK. I guess if I don't get round to it this year I'll be picking up an AV modded NTSC 2600jr in 2018. It was my first console but I always thought the games were too simple for me to go back to. Obviously that's not true and I've been surprised by how fun and addictive games like Galaxian and Demon Attack still are.
  22. I want to finally get round to picking up Dragon Warrior 2 and 3 on NES as well as the second Fire Emblem and Advance Wars games on GBA. I'll probably continue to buy cheap/interesting PSX games as well. I have a few bits and bats to sell off but I'm too lazy and probably won't get round to it. Nothing super rare I'm hunting for, I'd love a CIB Chrono Trigger or Snatcher but I'm not willing to fork over the money. I do sometimes feel overwhelmed by choice but can usually manage to enjoy going through a game or two at a time. I'd love to get into 8bit computers more, specifically, the ZX Spectrum, C64, Apple II GS and Atari computers but space is too much of an issue and I probably wouldn't be able to give them the time they deserve. I think my main goal is just to keep steadily making my way through my existing library and enjoy what I have while picking up the occasional game here and there.
  23. My parents bought me a jr in the very early 90s (£20 from Argos iirc) along with a 14" Bush portable TV. I can't remember what games came with it but I do remember going to a local game shop and being told they only had Golf for the system (literally an entire bookcase full). We ended up going to some hole in the wall round the corner and buying a ton of carts for a fiver including Centipede which was my favourite game on the system at the time. Later on my uncle ended up getting one along with some multicart that had Skiing on it and one of my cousins had one for a short while as well. Kind of weird considering how old it was by that point but I guess it was dirt cheap.
  24. Windows 98SE easily. I cut my teeth on that OS when it came to Windows and PC gaming, I'm very fond of that entire era really. XP is solid as well.
  25. It was the NES but the PSX has taken over now. The games are cheap for the most part and it was a big part of my teenage years. Plus the library is so large that I'm still finding new and interesting games today.
