Nope, this game is MVS only. I'm surprised you got it for only $40, check and ensure it's genuine board. I paid $160 10 years ago and I am still glad to pay at this price. http://mvs-scans.com/index.php/Neo_Bomberman For some reasons many third party developers never ported the non-fighting games into AES, quite a shame, especially titles like Super Dodge Ball (Techno ported Double Dragon) and Neo Bomberman (Hudson ported Kabuki Klash.

Southern California vintage game stores?
vincewy replied to Tarzilla's topic in Classic Console Discussion
You must go to this store http://www.gamedude.com/ A long drive from Palm Spring to SF Valley but it's all worth it, make sure you have enough $$ as you might be there for a while. -
-
Probably not mentioned yet here, but, besides NG DEV TEAM, Neobitz is also developing new MVS game(s), the first game, Knight's Chance, is almost ready for release. You may also reserve the standard kit here http://www.neobitz.com/KnightsChance

Neo XYX LE Is Now Available For Pre-Order!
vincewy replied to fdurso224's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I also ordered another copy, crazy, it's a lot of $$ and yet we all realize if we miss out, it's gone for good. I missed out Fast Striker AES pre-order and second copy of Neo XYX will be used for trading that game, potentially. This is one instance where I value games (in this term collectables) more than money, I can always pay off debt but I may never have another shot at this. -
Neo XYX For Neo-Geo AES Is SOLD-OUT!
vincewy replied to fdurso224's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Anthony, I didn't see this thread after I posted in the original thread. You'll still have the chance to get the last 50 copies, I guess by now everyone knows they'll have to glue to their website trying to order immidiately once offered. Once gone, the prices will go through the roof in the secondary market. -
Already sold out (100 copies offered) in less than 10 days. I'm one of the fools willing to pay those ridiculous prices, unfortunately, due to my collection, I have to have every AES game. Actually, not quite. I was ready to stop collecting after SNK/P's last game in 2004 but I've decided to add NGDEV's games into my collection. Initially I wasn't convinced NGDEV can pull it off (qualities of artwork and games) but recent improvements made me plunge and give them all my $$$. It was like $675 after shipping and fees, the crazy part is, it will only get more and more expensive later. I believe someone sold Last Hope (NGDEV's first AES release) for almost $2000 2 years ago.

Pre-orders for Gunlord Dreamcast and Neo-Geo AES are open now, both English and Japanese versions available, LHPB and Fast Striker also got reprints. http://www.ngdevdire...ex.php?cPath=21 They plan to bring in AES versions of LHPB and Fast Striker.

Just FYI, they're still making games for the system, just not from SNK. Like Songbird for Jaguar, NGDEV produces quality stuff on par with SNK (on certain aspects they exceeded SNK) NCI - Bang Bang Busters - (both AES/MVS) Treasures of the Caribbeans - (both AES/MVS) http://www.facebook....129060620484009 NG DEV Team - Last Hope - (MVS/AES/Dreamcast/NGCD) Fast Striker - (MVS/Dreamcast) Gunlord - (MVS/Dreamcast [coming soon]) There's a plan to bring all 3 titles mentioned above to AES, starting with Gunlord, which will use completely new cartridge shells, boards, and game cases http://www.ngdevteam...&id=5&Itemid=29 There're also some individuals creating consolized arcade units, on top of my head, we have http://www.analogueinteractive.com http://arcadeworks.net It seems like there's always market for the system and it just keeps going.

Not sure if this can be viewed if you don't have Yahoo JP account but I recently shelled out $900 (dollars are worthless right now) for Time Gal LaserActive http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g82532088 I'm actually glad to pay for it, usually this game commands 100K Yen and this is the last game I need to complete my collection. Economic recession means you might be able to get certain games at more reasonable prices (mind you, they're still high, but not insane). -
What is the one in the bottom row with the women's legs and the lil' perv with the camera? "Upskirt Challenge"? Well, I don't want to repeat what I have said in DP (just say this game sucks, but here's my post http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9826&postcount=56 Coincidentally, there's a copy on eBay right now (it doesn't come up very often) eBay Auction -- Item Number: 290405634523 For information on LaserActive games, please visit Hans' fan site http://www.cyberroach.com/new_laseractive_pics/default.htm I got it from Yahoo Japan for 75000 Yen and the seller is willing to deal and ship directly overseas. Ironically, this is the most I've ever paid for a game (including Neo-Geo), I got pretty much all the games and accessories in early 2000s when they were still relatively easy to find in Yahoo Japan (mind you, they were still not easy), it just took a lot of work for me. Usually, many rare games came in huge lots of games, systems, etc in early 2000s in Japan as people were getting out of collecting. So I bought a number of those, kept games/hardware I wanted, re-sold others I didn't need (I actually regretted selling a few games thinking they'd be easy to find again, but I didn't have much money a few years ago). In the end, I hardly spent anything, in fact, I made a little bit of profit selling in Europe and US. Today (even in Yahoo Japan), all those items are scarce, if anything comes up, you're competing with far more bidders for far fewer rare/good stuff (same with other games/systems) especially from the West.

Mine would be LaserActive, actually the system itself isn't really that obscure (as many people have it), but my collections would be obscure (Pic1 will be my NG collection if anyone is curious) http://www.neo-geo.com/gallery/collections/vincewy/Pic3.jpg http://www.neo-geo.com/gallery/collections/vincewy/Pic4.jpg My game collection is bigger today, have all US games now. Just got Time Gal MegaLD which is final unique game I don't have. I still don't have all the Japanese LaserActive games since a few games came out on both MegaLD and LD-Rom2.

I can't believe it's not selling that well in NA, how many did they sell? I just beat Rapthorne for the first ime and it's 100 hours, OK, that extra 10 was from getting 500K tokens to get best weapons in Baccarat and some alchemy mixings for the best weapons. This shows how much depth the game has. Perhaps it's the traditional graphics that didn't lure gamers, unlike Final Fantasy, which IMO is overrated and I've stopped playing after VII. I certainly hope they maintain the same type of graphics (anime styple, cel-shaded) and game play (menu-based).

Help for the new Neo Geo collector!
vincewy replied to raindog151's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That is correct, your AES system + converter will substitue PCB and MVS board. Also, I'm afraid you're 10 years too late to start collecting if you try to get all AES carts. If you're not prepared to spend a lot of money, my advise is not getting started at all, it's a money pit you won't soon climb out of. The only good part about it is, if I ever need to sell it (hopefully I won't have to), they'll always retain the value. Actually it wans't like this back in the 90s, none of the games I got cost over $400, I got pretty much every game at release, especially those I knew that will be hard to find, certain titles like KOF, Real Bout, and Samurai 1-3 I actually waited til price drop. Don't be deluded by the drama queens on Neo-Geo.com, most serious collectors stay out of the site and simply lurk there, it gives very bad impressions about NG collectors, sometimes I feel embarrassed to be a NG collector but that's another topic. Games like Neo Turfmasters, Metal Slug, Blazing Star are mor ethan likely conversions today since hardly anyone is willing to part their own games. As a felllow collector, I started collecting AES cart in 1994, thinking I would be content with Samurai Shodown [sic] and Fatal Fury Special alone, well, 12 years later, look at the COLLECTIONS I HAVE NOW (note: NO CONVERSION IN MY COLLECTION) , it's actually bigger than the pics since I got all the releases after 2002 plus another box of 10 I didn't pull out containing the earliest US AES carts like Magician Lord, Sengoku, etc. I also have complete sealed US Dreamcast and 100+ sealed Gamecube collections. If you're serious about getting a sizeable collection and ready to spend a lot of money, I recommend combo of Enlgish and Japanese carts. I also recommend flying to Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to get many of the games, Taiwan/HK got received all English carts when SNK released the games there, I found a lot of game sdirt cheap here, the savings you'll receive more than make up the cost of the plane ticket.
