Hi Guys, Just wanted to share my experience with the NEOGEO mini tonight. I preordered the JP version about a month ago and it finally turned up last week so I have had quite some time with it for an honest opinion. The overall packaging and feel of the NEOGEO mini is very good in my opinion, it does feel like a premium product and I really am happy I own one. Games are a good selection and most of them run perfect as far as I can tell. That being said their is a few issues I have experienced already.. A problem: When selecting a game using the built in joystick the system sometimes does not register a input, this isn't a huge problem as its only in the main menu but it does happen. Another missed input: Unfortunately in KOF2003 when selecting your character the system does the same thing here, you can be moving the joystick right or left and the system ignores inputs randomly. I have contacted my importer and I was told this is a known issue with the Rom in game and is being discussed in some groups in Japan. Maybe SNK can issue an update via USB? As far as I can tell this does not happen in game. The Joystick: The joystick does an ok job for some games and not so good for others, mainly the 1on1 fighters suffer the most. This is due to a larger movement than what is needed in my opinion, when trying to perform quarter circle moves I feel like my joystick is reaching for the stars there is so much movement. Hopefully I can get some joypads soon as I do feel the joystick is hindering me fully enjoying the system. Stickers: They can be infuriating!! The system is shipped with stickers and you have to apply them, thankfully I managed to do an ok job because my OCD would have made me rip them back off should they be too out of line. If you're not good at lining things up id ask someone else to help you! The Good News: Overall I would give the system a 7.5 out of 10 as I really do like it, its just a shame there are a few issues with the missed inputs and a larger than needed movement in the joystick. In closing i would highly recommend you pick one up if you get the opportunity, just make sure you get a joypad to go with it.

I was wondering how the majority of you have your AES/MVS set up, do you use modern TVs or do you stick with CRT? Being a gamer who is short on space I use a 1080P LG LED and the AES. It looked like a$$ until I finally decided to do something about it and invest in the OSSC. Why didn't I get this sooner!? If you look closely you can see I still need to get the RGB mod done, for now though its still 100% better than what it was.

I know this was on your hit list but did you ever track the carton box version down?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to The Official NEO-GEO Thread!!! Today is the day four years ago Anthony decided to use he's personal time to create a NEOGEO/SNK thread at AtariAge giving fellow NEOGEO collectors a friendly place to discuss our collections and obsessions - For this I am very grateful! On the 11th of August 2017 I purchased my first ever SNK hardware, a Japanese AES system from a Japanese seller. The excitement and anxiety I experienced whilst I waited for this sort after black beauty to be delivered to me was immense. I have so many fond memories of watching the attract modes of SNK's MVS cabinets whilst on holiday in Spain or at the Dolphin swimming pool in Romford as a child the thought of owning these games filled me with excitement. I searched google for a site which I could join for advice on games, prices and fellow collectors only to find myself at another site that I won't mention but needles to say I didn't stay there long after the cold reception I received. Matty, another SNK collector you may well be familiar with advised me to have a look at atariage.com.. Without going into to much detail I have experienced a rough three to four months and after having various chats with Ant he learnt that one of my fondest memories was the spinning invitation envelope in KOF94's attraction intro and that It was on my "must have" list but unfortunately for me and other collectors of the KOF series most copies of KOF94 look like arse in the "condition" category, for some reason the inserts are always stained or torn at the top. After Ant learnt I was on a mission to find a mint KOF94 for my AES he helped me look all over eBay for a desirable copy that was in 10/10 condition - It proved difficult. As usual one appeared when money was an issue.. By now you might be thinking "cool story bro" or "why are you telling us this" but bare with me because the point of this story is now.. Anthony gifted me with a mint (practically brand new) KOF94 for my AES console. I have experienced generosity in my life but not to the extent of someone who I have never met in person treating me to a game that means so much to me personally. I was originally going to do an unboxing video but unfortunately I have had phone issues and so I have had to resort to posting some pictures... Enjoy!! Thanks for sharing this here Ant, its always cool to see others opinions You're correct Ant, the rotating invitation always reminds me of being a young teenager watching the attraction mode whilst on holiday some where in Spain. My top choices are probably 94 due to introducing me to the franchise and then it has to be 97 & 99 for me. Hopefully il have the unboxing for 94 soon Ant, having a slight delay at the moment after my Son threw my iPhone in the bath
