  1. I can't figure a car racing game with fonts. Only crappy action come to my mind. Best reference of smooth action are in ELEKTRAGLIDE http://atari.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=1833 ROAD RACE http://atari.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=1833 The best I've seen in Atari, and use Gr.15, HSCROLL, DLIs and sprites. Both programs are to old, and sprite technique are simple, today it can be do it better. After all, 4 colors are sufficient to construct a colorful screen with apropiatte rastering.
  2. Well I can figure that get something like your screen. Not in char mode, because the best trick for the curves are the horizontal scroll. With apropiate use of dynamic DLI can get some colors extra. Atari strong is the processor speed. Examples like ELEKTRAGLIDE and AMERICAN CROSS COUNTRY ROAD RACE are very good. The infamous PITSTOP 2 is very slow, but has nice graphics, and could it support best support of colors with extra objects in screen.
  3. I can't find any server in kaillera with ATARI800Win games.
  4. I found these demos from COLORVIEW utility APAC system graphic. 4096 colors for 8bit. Wow..!!! Only flick a little, but really shows good graphics. I never see a game or presentation that use this type of graphics. Use 3 screens in Gr.9 (Red, Blue, Green), and mixing the image create a image in 16*16*16=4046 colors in 80x192 Something similar can do it but with gr.15 screens. We can get 4*4*4=64 colors. Just nice graphic for a game presentation.
  5. In newsgroup a guy explain some of the programing. In his words:
  6. I'm curious about a demos I've seen. First demo, show a aparently colofully screen, like a g2f technique. In bottom I see a Gr.9 merge with text build in Gr.8. Still I can solve how can be generated. No sprites. http://atari.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=940 And this demos is very pretty. 3 different graphic modes with different colors in one scanline. How many times can be changed color registers in a scanline? Nice sprites multiplexing... mmm... http://atari.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=736 Anyone have a site with details from these techniques. COMPUTE and MAPPING THE ATARI books has been overflowed
  7. Here is a new FTP of Analog. Files are in ARC format. ftp://matrix.ibb.waw.pl/pub/a8/Magdisks-dcm/Analog/
  8. KULT could be enhanced with artifacting colors or better, build in Gr.15. But, after all, it's very funny. Apart, another good game I remember in Hi-res graphic is AMAUROTE (please don't see the C64 port), the best isometric software in hi-res for ATARI and cool sound efects. And don't forget Tower Topler (Zeubulus) and my favorite DROL, both using artifacting colors. After these examples it appears graphics in hi-res move more fast than graphics in color res. True or false?
  9. Nazgul has a nice efect, GED graphic ?? It cost much timer clock? I'm not sure how color can be obtained in GED mode? 9? 20? 100? Can be graphic mode combined with this technique? Otherwise BOINXX demo has nice graphic, good colors, animation bound and playability it's the better I've seen in this type of game. The maximum diference can be reached with laser and boss add-ons.
  10. I saw in his oportunity, and I stayed very impresed with alpha effect with gr.8 (Antic F) and gr.15 (Antic E). MONSTERHEAD mix two mode graphics in one screen, clouds (white) and yellow applies are hi-res. Rest of screen are build in Med-res.
  11. Well, I tested with various games from ATARI. Only encounter these: - Now, in some games, Hi-Res graphics generate artifacting automatically. Partially artifacting I think. I'd prefer older version manual artifacting. - After loading a SAVE STATE, you push F9 and game hangs or the emulator crashes
  12. Not really' date=' most of us prefer to talk about games like [b']Mayhem in Monsterland, Turrican 2, Turbocharge[/b] or Armalyte far more often... =-) ARMALYTE is a nice shooter from C64. I counted 24 sprites at high levels. Not exist something exactly in Atari, but there are a few aproximations. HUMANOID is near. Sprites in 3 color, good graphics level and a Chief at level end. Good playability. LOWCA is another example. But in KULT, the enemies based in software sprites, moves similar to ARMALYTE. This game have all, different weapons like ZYBEX, final chief level, diferent art levels. It's a pity that only in monochromatic hi-res graphics, like Spectrum. Don't forget EXTIRPATOR I think it's very posible to make ARMALYTE version in ATARI and with better colors. So it's not a challengue. MAYHEM IN MONSTERLAND is different. Is a good example of art for C64. It appears to manage different colors from original palette, but, it's the outstanding art from his graphic man (I don't remember his name). How to get that arcade presentation?, very nice. The ingame colors are challengue problem for ATARI, but I think, there are solutions.
  13. That explains why castle floor is not in the background graphic. After all, two players in C64 version are sprites. Atari Beta version C64 version
  14. For years I thinked YIE AR KUNG FU is one of the classics games ports that never could be ported in ATARI. One of those games that commies talk much. It's a perfect conversion from C64 version. As a Beta version, still changes have to be applied (the background music, the game effects). But I see screen tittle had lost light blue color from version 1.1 to 1.2 Version Beta 1.1 Version Beta 1.2 C64 version I'm not sure how they create the big sprites, each frame is composed of 24 width pixels, then 3 Atari sprites for each player. With multiplexer technique I think.
  15. Just tried it on 128k and 1088k settings... When it stops you can reload it and fight again and again and so on... It happens when using the single EXE. I've checked the ATR version, which seems to work well. After a player gets the six points, the game hangs. You must reload for a new play, but for the EXE version, a reload starts in freeze. You need reload another program EXE before. Cool upgrade from the demo!
  16. Hi Russ!, I think the same thing, you have a unique style. - Any personal tools? - Preppie is an advanced graphic game for Atari 8 bit, even now. What games you did before preppie? - What do you think about short live for Atari 8 bit, what happens? - Why don't exist C64 versions from your games? - Any stuff you can share with us ? Really, one of the best that I remember.
  17. Thank you very much. Now ATARIMAX turn on. I see I need another SIO cable and soon I'll get my personal files from 87'. Sure, I post here some of them.
  18. You have to have the computer (the Atari 8-bit) connected. The Atarimax SIO2PC interface gets power from the Atari computer. Even if you are using it in ProSystem mode. It's a way. But when I Turn on my Atari Computer, memory test appears and show me several errors. 1 year ago works fine, but now fails. Any way I see this link http://www.atarimax.com/ape/docs/DiskImage...eal_Disk_To_Atr The method 3, shows how to transfer data from 1050 to PC, no ATARI computer is needed. But I have problems with the interface ATARIMAX, only people who use this interface can show me how the lights turn on. In this way I'll know if my INTERFACE is damage. The Steve's mail could me too. Thanks
  19. Well, recently I adquire ATARIMAX interface, just for get old work files from 1986 thet I developed in my 800XL. I conected to 1050 drive and a serial port PC with PROSYSTEM for Windows Trial version. Serial Port is recognized, but drive not. I don't know, I think my interface is damage, because until now I don't see any lights turn on. At least, I think red power light should be on when cable is conected at pc serial, but this not happens. Maybe the trial version of prosystem noy works, maybe is a bad configuration in my PC serial (I test with 2 pcs), anyone can help me about what light turn on in my interface.
  20. Nice place Piura... very peacefully place and good food. My best regards.
  21. Sure... This is the only 8-bit place in the web from Peru. One day I show DOG DAZE DELUXE to a commie friend. He enjoyed the game and made the PC VERSION that you see in the links page you post me. Great game from Chang! Allas ========== Atari Developer
