  1. Testing tolerances on a cut up model.. Full print... The back needs work I attempted to make the controller "click" in with a tab. but they still slip out when playing aggressively. So I am making a revision to the back tabs, making them longer and "springy" to hold them in at the top.
  2. Working on something special.... Working on tolerances and such, printing now...
  3. The shells came in, and you'll be happy to know they came without labels! No post cleaning. that adhesive was next to impossible to get off. although I was only using goo gone and alcohol. I am still waiting for all the buttons to show up then I'll get to building.
  4. continuity test, Look for this symbol... What I usually do is wrap a small piece of wire to one prod and stick the wire into the wire port, then go down the line of wires until I hear a beep. Then write down what pin you are on, and what color. do that for all 9 pins.
  5. On Osgelds Nes controllers he had a 2 small LED running on the board, I'm sure that was off that 5v line.
  6. Yup, and 3D printing is exactly what I had to resort to. I know how much work I put into designing simple controller PCB's so bravo to you sir, The XM looks amazing. Absolutely incredible actually, something Atari themselves couldn't do. Can't wait to order one myself!
  7. I'm surprised it was that cheap, all Chinese plastics companies I talked to wanted 10k to start production on custom controller shells. Some quoted less some quoted A LOT more, that was about average. I'm sure that was mostly inflated so they could make stock sales. Nevertheless, this stuff ain't cheap.
  8. ooooohhhhhh, is that double stick compatible with Robotron:2049 by any chance???
  9. You are clearly more qualified for label removal
  10. I ripped off the decal and stuck it to a piece of paper to measure it. The adhesive is real stubborn, lots of alcohol and hot water. I used loctite plastics bonder, the little 2 part super glue. It doesn't seem to want to go anywhere. In fact I think if I try to remove it, it will tear everything apart. I'll call it fused. They're fused.
  11. It's my favorite color scheme. All black with the silver fuji looks goofy with all the black. I may experiment with glow in the dark for the lettering as well.
  12. Hey everyone! It's been a few weeks and I thought I'd give you an update... My Chinese supplier fell through and I am still searching for more, 40+ controllers this batch. I wanted so badly to have my prototype injection molded but at this time that is not possible, really expensive. I worked hard on a 3D printable case that looks and feels great, good tolerances and sturdy. But... takes 5 Hours per controller to print. Even after they are printed I would still have to order the d-pads and A and B buttons with all the silicone contacts. At the price they want just for the buttons I could just purchase a large amount of black NES controllers to gut, and at that point I'd have a bunch of shells. So... I will be ordering a lot of black NES controllers, Here's the compromise... I still wanted to 3D print for this project so I fixed a problem I had from the beginning. Labels I 3D printed the "labels" and I can make them in any color imaginable.(Or what I have filament of) What do you think? Am I on the right track? -Dan
  13. Still haven't found a file? I wonder how hard it would be to create one in tinkercad?
  14. Yes I was, I never played 1 and 2... I'm enjoying some gameplay on youtube. That would be so awesome for the 7800.
  15. Go to TinkerCAD.com, It's free and super easy to use!
  16. Here are the real world mock ups, just testing tolerances and rigidity... Don't mind the black one, it's just to show progress...
  17. Oh WOW, That is awesome. most expensive controller ever, but I LOVE IT.
  18. Wow that's insanity, I love it. That's a good start, get that in a CAD program and get me an .obj or .stl file stat! Here is a little sneak preview of the shells i'm working on, its not much but its a start as well... I can barely get around in any CAD software but I'm still no designer.
  19. I am out of shells!, so after the holidays I will be getting more. I also need to get another batch of DB9 cables which I could sell with the boards. I'll probably offer alternatives like kits. After Christmas I'll have the boards ready. Then I'll have a 'official' post in the Marketplace but here are some prices to expect... V1.2 PCB only: $10 Free Shipping V.12 PCB KIT(PCB, DB9 cable and two 620ohm resistors): $15 V1.2 Fully assembled NES style controller: $25 Again if you ordered a V1 controller then you are on the 50% off list for just a PCB.
  20. I have a Model 1 genesis, but no power base converter. I'm going hunting for one soon.
  21. I would LOVE to see some photos of this!
  22. V1, with some ingenuity, can be modified to work with SMS fairly easily. v1.2 just makes it slightly easier. The main focus is still the 7800 and 2600, the circuit was so similar i had to add that option basically the same circuit without the 2 resistors save for switching a pin or so from the DB9 cable. Of course I won't be able to test the function since I do not own a SMS.
  23. I'll 4th or 5th Duke Nukem. I used to love that game, they had a semi-horrible port to the 'Game.Com' handheld that was fully 2D so I could be possible. or any others that were based on those engines like DOOM or Wolfenstein. But more importantly, back from the MSDOS days... LEMMINGS! I used to love lemmings, been awhile. I'm sure it's still fun. Maybe...
  24. Excellent work, looks great sounds great... Now finish the whole game!
