  1. The ground pin will probably be a direct connection to the power connection, so you can probably identify that one pretty easily. The other two, try just hooking them to a stereo. The two audio outputs will give you sound, while the composite one will probably give you noise. But by process of elimination, you should now have video and two audio. The connector seems to be a S-Video connector, though obviously not wired for S-Video.

Thanks, I found out that there's supposed to be a led that turns on when I turn the console on, but when using the right power adapter, nothing happens, and it used to make this loud disc sound when I'd turn it on. I'm just going to get another one, found this listing for one that's around $25 or so. Annoying how I have to buy the same console twice thanks to how obscure it is. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtech-V-Flash-Home-Edutainment-System-Console-w-1-Controller-A-V-Power-Cords/323629186186?hash=item4b59cd7c8a:g:T9UAAOSwPg9cKcVa

  2. It looks like a mini din 6 connector with pins 3 and 4 missing. My guess would be composite video with stereo audio and not s-video. Can you find a pinout for it?

It does look like it, and I can't find a pin out for it, and I can't find a way to disassemble this without breaking the console as I think I have to pry it open from the front. The rubber feet on the bottom leads to nothing, and I don't feel any screws under the sticker on the bottom. The only screws I could see is one for a rubber bit to prevent scratches from the lid, and 4 for the magnet that hold the discs when it spins. Is ther a way I could make a pin out just from having access to the port itself, and not the board inside? Here's some images of an unboxing of the console, if this helps. https://games.multimedia.cx/unboxing-the-vtech-v-flash/

  3. I bought this obscure game console for $20 with everything in box, except the video cable. The cable is hard to find online, and the console itself normally goes for $40. I don't want to pay $20 for the cable as I already bought the console for $20. I've attached an image of the port I'm talking about. It's the one on the left, and I thought it was an S-Video, but noticed the slightly different pin layout. It could be a din connector, but am unsure.

It did'int upload, and I don't know how to edit the post, so I'll just add the image here https://games.multimedia.cx/wp-content/uploads/16-v.flash-back.jpg

  5.

Joyride does not have a good reputation. It was removed from the PS4 store shortly after release, and resurfaced months later, presumably to fix some things. I have not played it. You may still enjoy it, but maybe watch some video reviews to know what it is before buying.

Planet Coaster is a worthy successor to RCT. I almost wish Atari would stop futzing with half-assed RCT games, and just license the brand name to a quality product like Planet Coaster.

I agree that Atari should do that. Kind of reminds me of EA with Dungeon Keeper, Command & Conquer, Sim City, Populus, ect, and not using them, or making some crap game in the series. When EA announced Command & Conquer game with two dick weeds trying to be popular, I knew that it was going to be a bland mess with micro transactions, like how that Dungeon Keeper mobile game apparently turned out, never played it, only knew about this crap shoot mobile game from LGR.

  6. I've always liked the Roller Coaster Tycoon series, and despite the backlash to RCTW I'm still interested in the series, and dare I say am willing to try RCTW. I don't have PSVR, nor do I have a ps4, but plan on getting one soon. Is this game any good, or should I just stick to the track riding feature from RCT3, or just play Planet Coaster. I'm also curious on the RCT4 that was only on mobile for some reason, and Tycoon Park, that game from Bullfrog studios. I'm also a little hyped for that Night Driving remake on mobile, but I feel like it's going to be iffy.

  7. The 2013 PRGE presentation was recorded. Do note that Keynote had a hiccup at the beginning where it was showing the wrong slide (wish somebody had said something about that). It eventually corrected itself.

At last year's PRGE I participated in a panel hosted by Tim Lapetino(Art of Atari) with Al Yarusso(runs AtariAge), John Champeau(Champ Games), and Howard Scott Warshaw :!:

Cool that you participated in a presentation with John Champeau of Champ Games and the guy who runs Atari Age. Do you still make Atari 2600 homebrew?

  8. This PDF file I found shows how some 2600 games was able to make use of the system's 128 bytes of ram and is very interesting to look at. I found this while looking for 2600 Supercharger homebrew.

  9. Well, all its sprites are 8 pixels so you could do a screen grab with the tanks or planes in various positions and snip them out in a paint program. I believe this game only has 25% of the sprites shown. It reverses or posts them upside down to get the entire sprite set.

Sorry for the long reply, but this helped! Thanks

  10. Today I fired up and tested a dozen of my old Atari 8-bits. For testing, the 800XL/1200XL/130XE machines were connected to the Composite Video Input of an NTSC television via the monitor output connection on the back of the computer. Two of my 800XLs had screen issues. One was black-and-white (shades of grey, no color) and the other was flickering and changing colors from time-to-time as I was hitting keys on the keyboard or moving the machine.

Both, it seems, suffered from oxidation on the color adjustment potentiometer that is hidden below the RF shield. Are there any well-known fixes (for the very long term) for the variable resistor, or is the consensus that it is good enough to break it free of the oxidation with a number of back-and-forth rotations every few years? Or are my cases unusual enough that it isn't regularly seen?

    Thanks all,

    jmccorm

I thought you said that you fried you Atati 8-bit systems. XD

I had no idea boxed Superchargers are going for as much as they are but it looks like you can buy a loose one for $40-50. Loose CtCWs look like they're going for $70-80. They used to sell for much much more.

Might as well get one before the price goes up. Do you have a link to a site that shows the history of the price or value.
