Jeez, this is bringing me back to the days of script kiddies trying to DDoS their IRC rivals... although however ridiculous it may seem to everyone here, it's consistent with all the other behavior I've been reading about. Ban, harass, report - he'll utilize whatever few weapons he has left in his arsenal.

Damn you aren't kidding, I just watched the book review in the OP... the amount of typos, misspellings, and other English mistakes in that book are unbelievable! I'd heard of this guy and some of his issues but didn't know the extent of it until this thread. Unfortunately judging by the amount of time he's been doing this, I can tell that he isn't going to change his behavior or admit wrongdoing any time soon. One important lesson I've learned as I've gotten older is that I can't change the behavior of others so all I can do is distance myself from them to preserve my sanity. However, that isn't always possible especially in a situation like this where you're all trying to co-exist on this tiny Jaguar-infested island. At least you guys are sharing stories and compiling this list of grievances so that others can be warned in advance before they get pulled in as well. I wish you all the best in dealing with this mountain of shit.

Saucer Wars Now Available For Order
Buffalo Biff Burgertime replied to WAVE 1 GAMES's topic in Atari Jaguar
If you were only emphasizing whatever positive comments out there you could find then there would be no issue, that's part of marketing (take Bubsy 3D's "Gold X Award" for example). While you are indeed doing that by linking Second Opinion Games' review whenever possible, you've also chosen to drag a reviewer who found flaws in your game through the mud. Now we have a problem. Allow me, since everyone knows you're referring to Master-Cast's review anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lZRlgdD7x8 Since then you've: Posted your "ONLY public response" on FB. You further commented by replying to other posts and comment chains (whether or not you started those chains is irrelevant - by commenting yourself, you are commenting publicly). You've made passive-aggressive comments like the one above. You've posted vague legal threats of dubious legitimacy elsewhere... for some reason? You're still making comments and it's been A MONTH since Andrew Rosa's review so clearly you DO feel attacked or at the very least it's still in the forefront of your mind, otherwise you wouldn't keep bringing it up. You attempt to dismiss Andrew's review as "hatred and profanity infused" and you frame the situation as if he only disliked the game because of some personal issue with you: Maybe you thought you could fool someone that only saw his Saucer Wars review and none of his prior reviews, but let's give it some context: Master-Cast Reviews JagZombies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHmqKzehIdA JagZombies (Uncut): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_uwb57JAbI With these previous reviews in mind it should be clear to anyone with half a brain that his problem isn't with YOU, it's the fact that you keep repeating the same mistakes. You've had plenty of chances to improve by now and have had plenty of people trying to help. Andrew didn't raise his voice or swear in his JagZombies review. In fact, he gave you the benefit of the doubt by taking your comments into consideration and again by reviewing multiple revisions of the game! As he says at 7:30, the copy of the game he bought wouldn't work at all, then the copy in his original review was a revision you sent him, then the third and final version you sent was what he covered in the "uncut" review to give you one more chance! Imagine if someone bought the game and you didn't know they had a YouTube channel. You wouldn't have had the chance to try and explain yourself and send revisions to them. They just would've posted a review of that first cart that wouldn't boot! If he had said your game was "Fucking Great!" would you still be so bothered by that spooooky f-word? Since you're acting like this negative review was biased, let's take a look at another review shall we? You don't seem to be calling anyone's attention to these. Video Game Critic Reviews Saucer Wars (D- rating): https://videogamecritic.com/jaguarsz.htm?e=99031#rev5198 JagZombies: (F rating): https://videogamecritic.com/jaguarfl.htm?e=99031#rev5199 He doesn't seem to have a high opinion of the game either. Does he also have some bias against you that we're unaware of? I wonder if Second Opinion Games would have been a bit less forgiving if he had to fork out $80 of his hard-earned dollars for it rather than being sent a review copy for free. I like that guy too, I discovered his channel when he was just a few videos in. It was refreshing to see someone posting positive reviews of game's like Club Drive to hear a different perspective from the "Jaguar was all crap" opinion a lot of people have... but again, if you take his previous reviews as context, earning that guy's praise doesn't take much. He's posted 250+ videos and reviewed the entire Jag library. I've can count the games he's spoken negatively of on one hand. Lastly I'd like to make something very clear about myself. I came into this community without a side, without friends, without enemies. I didn't know that there were warring cliques out there (and frankly I didn't - and don't - give a shit). I intended on being a passive observer and figured my fascination with this strange, obscure console would subside within a week or two. Then I started reading stuff that made me feel opinionated enough to want to create and account and type up my thoughts... which was Frogz 64 and the community's reaction to its many flaws OVER 2 YEARS AGO (jesus it's been that long already?) As I said back then: Your reaction was to accuse me of being an alt account of someone that "had a personal issue with you"... sounds familiar doesn't it? The world isn't against you, man. People want to see you succeed so that this homebrew community succeeds. They're just frustrated because you keep making the same mistakes and deflecting criticism. Suppose someone spends $80 of their hard-earned money on a homebrew Jag game they saw that looked cool but were disappointed by it being full of bugs, very short, and/or very boring. If they look online and only see positive reviews they're going to think "oh I guess this is as good as homebrew gets on the Jag." They aren't going to buy any more Jag games. They're going to miss out on games that were well-made passion projects from competent developers, games that deliver a fun and deep experience. On the other hand, if they look online and see people talking about how the game sucks mentioning all the flaws they noticed themselves, perhaps they'd give some other game another shot. Communities like this need reviewers like Master-Cast and Video Game Critic that aren't shy about voicing their disappointment and anger when warranted... Otherwise, the community will slowly die off. -
Oh nice, I didn't realize this was being actively worked on. I think it got confused with another similar demo in my mind, it was like a static image of a car that moved left and right over a Mode 7-like highway. There wasn't any actual gameplay, it was just showing off the Mode 7-like graphics. Am I thinking of a super early version of this or something else entirely? Anyway, it's cool to see stuff like this. Jaguar seems to excel at 2D games that make use of scaling graphics a la Space Harrier, as seen in Super Burnout. I always wondered why there weren't more of those games. I understand that at the time Atari was pushing developers to make games that showed off the console's 3D capabilities, but why haven't more aftermarket homebrew games been made in this style? I haven't a clue how one would program the physics/gameplay side of a game like that, maybe that's an issue.

Upcoming Jaguar Game Drive Cartridge
Buffalo Biff Burgertime replied to SainT's topic in Atari Jaguar
As this SD Cart was coming into reality, I thought maybe this would be the tipping point in me finally graduating this odd fascination into proper Jaguar ownership... but given my current financial situation, spending ~$300 on a complete Jaguar and a further ~$170 on a SD Cart would be a poor decision. Regardless, it's cool to see the culmination of all this building excitement over the past however long it's been since the original announcement (over a year, right?). I'll live vicariously through all of you until I get lucky at a thrift store/yard sale/etc. -

The Sauces of War... Salsa of World?
Buffalo Biff Burgertime replied to WAVE 1 GAMES's topic in Atari Jaguar
Remember when the internet was littered with those banner ads made with flash that tried to disguise themselves as games? Usually there would be something that popped up that you've have to aim your cursor at and click. That's what this reminds me of and it probably has about the same replay value. The visuals look nice at least, but there have been so many simple games where you mindlessly shoot at things like this that not even visuals with a $1m budget could make that kind of gameplay interesting at this point. -
A friend of mine owns a gaming lounge and he's a really inspirational guy. The lounge started as a tiny, cramped, rented room a few years ago. Since then it evolved into larger rooms, and now it's in a giant building. He has networked computers and consoles for all the fancy new shit the kids play, arcade machines (including CoJag's Area 51), and some retro consoles. He does good stuff for the community like offering free gaming to kids that do well in school, stuff like that. Whenever I go somewhere that has various retro consoles set up for freeplay (like PAX), I'm always disappointed that they only have the most popular consoles available. Fuck that, I have enough gamer friends so I can play NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Playstation, etc at their houses if I wanted to. I want to play consoles that I never have before, consoles that would be a poor financial decision to buy myself... and there's no console that I want to play more than the Atari Jaguar. I'm thinking of crowdfunding the purchase of a Jaguar for this gaming lounge. I'd like to buy the console with all necessary wires, 2 controllers, and a decent assortment of games: the main essentials, and some multiplayer games. I'm aware that certain games go for ridiculous prices, let's leave those out. Two questions: • How much should I expect to spend in order to buy what I described above? • What kind of video output did the Jaguar mainly ship with, RF or AV? If RF, what do I need in order to get better video output? A CatBox/ScatBox/etc? Last I heard those were rare, what are my cheaper options? - Less important bonus question: • I'm putting together a project of playing drums over a medley of retro game songs. The finished product will be roughly 2 hours long with a short break, and the first place I'll perform it will be at this gaming lounge. Are there any songs from Jaguar games that you'd recommend I check out to see if they're worth including? Songs that might be good to play drums over. If you aren't a drummer, up tempo stuff usually works best.

When I was 14 years old I was a part of an animation community and my creations suffered from two issues: Grandiose ideas and impatience. I would think up big ideas, but halfway though I would realize how much work was involved and end up releasing something shitty and half-done. I briefly returned in my early 20s and the quality of my stuff improved greatly simple by virtue of being an older person with more patience. I am reminded of that with each of his releases. It's too bad the same mistakes keep being repeated and it's happened often enough that I don't expect anything to change (but would love to be proven wrong). The other issue at hand is I've seen him say several times things like "this is my last game for the Jag" only to turn around and hype up his next big release shortly afterwards. Such emotional outbursts were also true of my younger years. If more people were willing to put time into making Jag games with rB+ I don't think these games would be getting any attention.

Was this port (very) unfinished? I saw some video of it and it seemed like a big downgrade from how I remember the arcade version - even though the Jaguar could easily handle everything the arcade version did.

Last year I became fascinated with the Jaguar and started exploring all there is to explore on the internet about it. I've never touched a Jaguar controller in my life, so playing an actual machine is on my bucket list. Something today reminded me of a Jaguar-related dream I had many months ago. If you've never heard of Stuart Ashen he's a British YouTube personality that reviews poor quality items and food, often from 1£ or 99p stores. In this dream I was an internet personality of some sort myself and agreed to do a crossover video with him. I flew overseas (I'm from the USA) and introduced myself. In our video, we were to visit several 1£ stores. I bought all sorts of stuff, mostly food like every brand of cheap candy that I didn't think we had back home. As we entered the last 1£ store of the bunch, I saw something I couldn't believe... The Atari Jaguar Mini Classic Edition. There were tons of them. Boxes on top of boxes on top of boxes of tiny little Jaguar systems that couldn't sell in the main electronics stores and ended up at the 1£ store to be dumped off to the masses. "Includes the classic Cybermorph!" was written under the Jaguar logo (probably should've been Tempest 2000, eh?). I shoveled as many of them as would fit into my cart and bought them all. I wasn't just going to experience the Jaguar myself for the first time (albeit in a tinier form), I was going to bring a bunch back for my gaming nerd friends back home. I was hoping to play it a bit when we returned to the hotel and maybe get in some multiplayer action with Stuart, but we'd run out of time and I had to catch my flight back home. When I finally got back to my house I excitedly hooked everything up and was ready to finally play... ...but I was trying to play a PAL console in a NTSC country. Nothing showed up on the screen. It wouldn't work at all. Have you had any Jaguar dreams?

It's always very interesting to see footage of unreleased Jag games, but especially one that's 3D like this.

Fishy experiments with Rb+ on the Jaguar...
Buffalo Biff Burgertime replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Atari Jaguar
I had assumed that VJ's emulation quality was too shitty to test homebrew with since, if the emulation itself it buggy, how can you debug your code and figure out if it's you or the emulator? Then I realized that it's been many, many years since I last fired up VJ and it's probably much improved since then. What is rB+ actually? Just a means of writing simplified code that converts into and accesses deeper Jag assembly functions? Is there a list of completed games that were created with it? The only games that I know were created with rB+ were made within the past year by a developer of, let's say, dubious quality. I'd like to see some good examples of rB+ games. -
You're posting it because it gives you an excuse to post yet another image/video in this thread. Your pattern of behavior is very consistent and clear to anyone who's seen more than a few of your posts. If you want mindless replies of "Wow, looks great!" then keep spamming Jaguar Sector III on Facebook as often as you can get away with like you've been doing. If you want to impress the people here then you need to do the difficult thing and shut up, spend the time you would've spent thinking about/writing these posts instead working on the things people have suggested, and release a bug-free game that's fun to play. You have all these people writing these long posts with great advice that's clear and specific and instead you argue with them, pretend to understand when you have no other option and move on as fast as possible so you can get back to posting another picture and reading another positive reply. Somehow it doesn't matter that only 10% of them are positive , just keep drowning out the other voices and repeating the same behaviors. People love a good redemption story, they want to see others overcome their problems - that's why you're getting comments like "Not that you're going to listen, [...] but have to say it anyway" people want to think that their expectations of you are wrong and that this time the things they're saying are going to get you to realize what you need to do. You seem to have written everyone here off as if no matter what you do they'll never be happy, their expectations are unreasonable... No. Their expectations are very simple and easy for you to achieve. Wouldn't you like there to be more than one positive comment per page?

Fishy experiments with Rb+ on the Jaguar...
Buffalo Biff Burgertime replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Atari Jaguar
This is pretty cool, and it would inspire me to give rB+ a try myself if I only had a Jaguar. All you have left to do now is start selling carts of this for $60 a pop on eBay! -
I've been fascinated with the Jaguar during the past year or so, reading whatever bits of info I can find. There are many interesting stories from developers struggling to make their games and a lot of "what if" scenarios with canceled games like Black Ice/White Noise. Every time I think I've read and seen it all, I find another piece of juicy info. I've been lurking these forums for many months but have only recently registered an account so I could comment on a uh, let's say dubious homebrew. While I'm here, I might as well ask you guys something I've been wondering about for a while. What's the story with Jaguar Sector and Jaguar Sector II? What happened to them, and where did they go? I see them mentioned quite often while I"m reading stuff about the Jag. It seems like they provided and hosted a lot of cool stuff for the community. To give an example, I recall reading somewhere that Fight For Life's programmer eventually gave the game's finished code to the fans and it was released via Jaguar Sector II. Actually, I see Jaguar Sector II referenced more often than the first one. If Jaguar Sector 1 and 2 were as significant to the Jaguar community as they sound when I see them referenced, how did they disappear and why?

I took an interest in the Jag within the past year and have been lurking this forum off and on ever since. I never felt compelled to register an account and speak up until now. I've been big into the Dreamcast community for years, and one thing's for sure: New releases are the best things for retro console communities. It's what we all wait for and get excited about. New game releases are met with nothing but positive energy and universal praise. If there's any negativity surrounding a release, there has to be a serious screw-up somewhere. I want to be careful that I don't cross the line here so I'll simply state that behavior like Jeff's should be universally condemned in ANY gaming community. If you follow these Jaguar forums including the programming subforums, you know what I'm talking about and have seen enough shady actions to establish a pattern by now. Hopefully he'll improve over time, but the way he blatantly lies and remains defiant in the face of legitimate criticism makes me think otherwise, as these behaviors tend to be consistent with those that are set in their ways. If I dare make the comparison, this is Mike Kennedy-level dishonesty cash-grab bullshit stuff.
