  1. Hey, to be fair, I thought I said you only understood it 50%! I was being snarky for sure, but I stand by my point on that one. It's pure BS from Analogs part. The thing is still probably for pre-order now and will be for a week or whatever they need to hit some number. As for Genesis and SNES, I thought we were talking (complaining) about the MNT not having interpolation, which I feel isn't a big deal (but understand why others are hopeful it has). No idea about MegaSD or SNES as I don't have those systems.
  2. Fair enough, if your TV doesn't do this and the NTM is $500, I can see wanting the option (more choices is better!). I'll say this though, I'd still rather do 5x and 6x and lose a little bit of data at the top (or bottom or both) than to use interpolation and get a blurry image. Again, your system, your choice, but crisper is nicer to me. Sorry if I came off as a bull in a china shop guys! Thanks for the discussion.
  3. Uh, in that video you yourself linked. Set your NT mini to 4x by 6x and your TV to 4:3 (12:39 in the video). Boom. Perfect integer scale pixels, proper aspect ratio (not square) and NO interpolation needed for no shimmers.
  4. I'm not sure why you quoted me, I KNOW I'm right!
  5. HD-NES does support 4x (you don't need 5x) which is sharp without needing interpolation. As you state, the NT mini does support 5x, again, not needing interpolation. You'll have minor black borders, but again, a tiny price to pay for perfect, sharp pixels that scroll with no shimmering.
  6. Uh, this is 100% not true. In fact, the BEST way to view proper CRT aspect ratio on a modern display is without interpolation, with your image scaled at an integer level, so that you don't need interpolation. Interpolation is a half-ass fix for a minor problem. You can integer scale your picture and leave a small amount of black at the top and bottom, but have a perfect image that also scrolls perfectly. Needing interpolation on the NT mini seems really overblown.
  7. You're 50% surprised because you're 50% fooled by basic marketing. As were the people who thought an online petition reaching 1,000 signatures was what made them make the v2, actually, those people were 100% fooled.
  8. Kevtris, this is weird question, but is there any way to go ahead and kill the poll at the top of this thread? I mean, I think at this point we all know what direction you are going with (sadly no Zimba 3000 in the way you initially polled about), but the poll eats up a lot of room at the top when browsing this thread on a phone. It's a little thing, but I think we've moved beyond the original question anyway, maybe it's time for a new thread?
  9. Hmm, someone who is a wizard with FPGA's just knocked two long standing chips out of the park huh... and Kevtris, someone who's a wizard with FPGA's has been super busy and not posting shit on here for weeks... hmm... Is it possible that... Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!! Uh, I mean, is Redguy Kevin's alter ego? Working undercover for some reason?
  10. I didn't want to focus on the composite thing, like I said, this is an early chip and I don't care, I don't use composite. My real question is about the delay I'm seeing using the paddle controller. So Kevtris you're saying there shouldn't be a delay with the HDMI out? Maybe my paddle controller has problems?
  11. No, it's not a warranty issue, not sure what you mean by that? My Hi-Def NES is a prototype one before Kevin made the changes allowing for both HDMI and composite out, so there is nothing wrong with my system or mod, at least from what I can see. That's why I'm asking the question here, because I know Kevin checks out these forums. Now, if it's just a matter of the NES via HDMI on a flat screen has enough lag that I can really sense it with the paddle controller, ok, I'll take that answer an live with it, I'm just asking the question.
  12. kevtris, a little off topic, but a question about the Hi-Def NES. I have one of the prototype ones (before you made the adjustments to allow both old composite out and the HDMI) and it is up to the latest firmware. My question is, I just got a copy of Arkanoid with the Vaus controller (the spinner knob). On my flatscreen, with HDMI out, I spin the controller and the paddle in the game seems to take a bit longer to move to the spot. The controller seems to be working 100% other than this delay. So, my question is, is the delay due to TV or HDMI mod lag, or is it potentially something wrong with the controller? No other game I play seems to exhibit lag, but then again, I'm not champion player. I have my HDTV set to game mode with all extras turned off to reduce TV processing lag, but of course there could be something else in there. It just seems crazy how much slower the paddle moves on the HDTV. Of course the composite out is no longer working, so I have no way of testing it without the HDMI system. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to repair the controller or hopefully it's something easier to fix. Thanks again for all the hard work you've done, and I'm eagerly looking forward to your next project!
