  1. Yeah, I'd be fine with them telling me what the "fix" or preventative measure is to avoid the "rare" situation that would lead to apparently something shorting out.  I know they might fix it under warranty but once the warranty has run out it would be nice to just modify it yourself to avoid a potential short.

Nt Mini Noir sellers on Ebay haven't been able to get any profit for months so it's not surprising to me that it didn't sell out quickly.

People just aren't buying/paying?  I know with ebay fees, original taxes and to cover the original shipping and shipping to resell you'd have to sell those things for like $650 to break even I would imagine.  I figured they'd be selling for well over $1k though I guess simply based on prices before the Noir was a thing.  I haven't been checking though.  Regardless, it warms my heart to know unopened or basically new systems are being sold for essentially a loss to those people.  I thought they would sell out really fast.  I guess the demand was a pretty vocal minority of people.  Super Nt went pretty fast.

  3. If you have the money and even a hint of desire to get one then go for it.  It will not drop in value.  If you change your mind later you can get your money back selling it, easily.  I'd much rather people in forums like this who are on the fence go for and possibly make money on it someday than scalpers who's main purpose for buying it is simply to jack up the price and make money.

  4. Yeah, bummer.  When it was announced I think it was supposed to release in November 2020, then got delayed to March or something, then May and now October.  I just hate that you pay them the full amount back when they announced the preorder even though apparently that money isn't necessarily used to buy the components and build the device at that time (or it would have been released by now).  I wonder how long they sit on the money before actually placing the order for the devices from their manufacturer?  Apparently the shortage they are talking about was sudden even though preorders were in August 2020.

What are ya’ll doing to get nice consistent scanlines? Mine are double width every other line on my NT Noir, SG, and NT.

Are you referring to the post above you?  If so that is just what scanlines look like on like a PVM crt or whatever.  If you just mean in general for modern displays then I got nothing since I don't use them :)

I’m surprised with the slow down I’ve experienced while playing NES on the noir from the SD card. Specifically in Metroid when theirs more than 3 enemies on screen at once and in Super Mario Bros 3 I noticed it in a few levels.

I need to get some original carts and see if the slow down happens as well in those games. I have a 32GB Sandisk Extreme pro SD card rated for 95MB/s.

My rom files are from the no intro rom sets on Archive.org. I’m using the [headered_iNES2.0_NRS(2020-09-27)] roms.

I don't currently have mine hooked up but I seem to recall a setting you can enable that will help reduce the flicker caused when too many enemies appear on screen.  It was under System>number of sprites or something.  I am not sure if this only helps with the visual flickering or if it helps with slow down as well.  Might be worth trying.

  7. I don't get why any phone I have ever had with an oled screen shows burn in before 2 years is up but a ton of people say there is no burn in on OLED TVs.  How are TVs made differently from phones which have widespread and well known burn in issues?  I am genuinely curious why this happens as my experience with phones is why I have never considered an OLED TV.  Maybe it is the Samsung screens that are the issue?  I think those are the displays I have tended to notice it the earliest.

I just got to messing around with the FDS RAM adapter and FDSStick on an Nt Mini.  Does anyone know of a guide to setting the audio properly for the FDS to sound authentic?  There seem to be two options I can set.  FDS Expansion Audio, which I assume I want enabled, and Cartridge Audio Volume, which I also probably want turned up to some point?  The sound of games changes pretty drastically depending on the volume of the cartridge audio and once cartridge audio gets high enough the FDS expansion audio setting doesn't seem to really change the sound at all if I disable it.

You can get original audio from the RAM adapter by enabling Cartridge Audio but it will me digitized analog. If you want digital audio then you need to enable the FPGA replication of the FDS audio hardware. Despite what MLiG says, it's best to leave Cartridge Audio disabled if you aren't using it so that you aren't encoding and injecting analog noise into your digital audio when you aren't even using it.

Ok, thanks for the info about disabling it.  I would have just left it enabled even though I wouldn't be using it much.

Been playing BS Zelda on the Super NT.

Man it looks and sounds pretty great. 🙂

Does this work with the jail break or are you using the SD2SNES (FXPak Pro)? Or maybe it works on both but I am not sure.  I have wanted to try figuring out how to get/play that game.

  11. Were the scart connectors for the Mega Drive back then using RGB in Europe or were they just sending composite video through the connector?  Did anyone at the time even know there was a difference?  Was there an official Mega Drive scart cable?  I'd be curious how it was wired.

  12. If I am using an Nt Mini hooked up directly to a CRT I don't need to worry or care about the buffer options right?  I don't think I do but just want to make sure, LOL.  It defaults to fully buffered.  It doesn't feel like there is any delay or lag so I am pretty sure it only affects the HDMI output.

  13. My expectation is a shipping notification for my day 1 preordered Noir before the holiday.  I am not getting my hopes up though.

As far as their future plans a cheaper Nt Mini makes so much sense.  Then they just need to get to the point where they can keep all of their products stocked.  I am not sure they even want to do that though for whatever reason. They have to do something to fund all those people.

Edit- I can see a tracking number at FedEx so I am relieved.

  14. I wonder why SmokeMonster decided to release the Genesis core rather than the Super Nintendo core?  It doesn't really matter to me very much since i like to use the proper system for the games I am playing but I think I would rather have the SNES core be included.  There are even controller adapters that would work in that case so it makes more sense.

Got this message from analogue this morning

Some have it some like me haven't even received a email yet?

Yeah, I haven't received the email you are showing nor have I received a shipping email.  If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't know they've started shipping.

Buddy of mine got his already. Sent me a pic and it's more like gunmetal grey than black. I'll withhold judgement until I get mine, but I'm ready to be very disappointed.

I thought it was known it would be more like that than the original black?  It says anodized with a gunmetal finish on the website.  Either way, I'm jealous. I don't even have a shipping notice yet.

  17. The Nt Mini is releasing soon (again) but with rewritten cores or whatever so I would expect that system to get a fix in the months following, if needed.  Then the Pocket will be releasing and will get priority after that.  If Kevtris is the only guy capable of fixing stuff I wouldn't expect anything for a long time.

Do you know if it's possible to swap the insides of a 2.4ghz controller to the shell of one of the old SN30's? I just really can't get into the redesign of them and the old SF30 I have that is basically identical to the actual SFC controllers would be ideal to swap out with.

Edit: I guess that prob wouldn't be possible since the start and select buttons are set differently on the new ones....ugh....and on a side note, they need to release a dogbone style NES controller. They made the DIY kit, so just release the damn thing!!! Dogbone 4 life!!!

Well, I decided to try it tonight and it actually works.  The start and select may be slanted but they are in the same positions and work after the swap.  The DPADs and the PCB thickness are the exact same so the button feel and everything is good.  The mounting holes are the same as well.  Even the micro usb port and the led lights work and are lined up perfectly.  It is pretty clear that they fixed the dpad in the newer controllers.  The contacts are the same style as original SNES controllers. Also, the new 2.4ghz controllers switched to Torx screws instead of regular Philips head screws for some reason so a set of Torx are needed.  The bit I used was the Torx TR6/T6H from the iFixit set though it doesn't have to be the "security" style Torx.

It's possible on the SN30 that has the same shaped Start and Select so like the controllers that came out when the Super Nt were released work.  I doubt the original 8bitdo controllers (now discontinued) with the angled Start/Select would work but I haven't seen it attempted.

I thought the Dogbone was good, UNTIL I used it for awhile.

    It has MAJOR problems IMHO.

    1. The buttons are angled the wrong way, they should be slanted the other way.

    2. The buttons are too far apart! Compare them to the original, they are off.

    3. The D-pad is not as good as the original, but I'm not sure why yet.

Believe me, I WANT to love the Dogbone, but it's really not a good controller. The BEST is a SNES controller with an adapter to play on NES. Now THAT is the BEST controller for NES!

Yeah, the angled buttons kill it for me  It's also a little small both in size and the A and B buttons seem small or something.  Maybe it's because they are convex rather than concave.  The rounded shape of the controller is really nice but I just can't get used to it.  The nostalgia of the brick also plays into it a little.
