  1. Eh... The taco thing's become pretty mindless, & far too many jokes are made at the supporters' expense.

Even intelligent people make dumb decisions on occasion; Newton fell victim to a stock bubble. I'm sure we all can remember a receiving a raw deal once or twice; we wouldn't want to be insulted for it, would we?

  2. That might've been possible...

If I remember right most of the game had Dirk in a room, rendered as a long shot till something happened. They could've replaced the animated long shot with a photo of a painting. Place large sprites on top of that, cut to a short piece of animation when Dirk interacts with an object, & you'd have the right look & feel for most of Dragon's Lair.

I'm not sure if this feature is gone -- the new software definitely lets you see who reacted to specific posts, but I haven't figure out where this is enabled.  Just made a post on the Invision forum asking how to enable this. I'm not sure there's any way to get a nice listing of who reacted to your posts, though.

You can see what you reacted to mixed with reactions to your posts. Is there a way to just see who reacted to your posts?

Isn't WebCrawler just a metasearch engine now?

    Wrote this awhile back:
Decent Search Engines (Which Are Not Google)
    https://websitering.neocities.org/minisearchenginereviews.htm

And this article's already obsolete; some of of those engines have gone offline. :(

I used to use ScrubTheWeb a lot, but they're gone too. (Sold the domain name, & someone else made a directory with the same name.) Here's an article I wrote when that happened: https://websitering.neocities.org/ScrubTheWebIsGone.htm

I don't mind ads or tracking; I do find an information monopoly frightening.

  5. This must be Atari's "Hardware Store" model to make believers believe but here's, what I think, what it's really made out of:

    attachicon.gifHardware_Store VCS.jpg

As you can see, many of the items are found at a hardware store or as they say in french, la droguerie.

To me the "springs" look like sheet metal screws. Don't let the name confuse you; they'll work on plastic too.

There's a conspicuous lack of circuits on their circuit board. Maybe they stole my idea, & each game will come on a cart which includes a complete system-on-a-chip? Then again, I stole that idea from Epoch, Coleco, & later-pong machines.

Other than that I can't say anything, 'cause I don't know anything.

    That's news to me ...

reading about it here makes it look like it wasn't part of a lawsuit, but they kinda expected one

That was an arcade game I've never seen.

According to The Dot Eaters there was no lawsuit: http://thedoteaters.com/?bitstory=bitstory-article-2/shark-jaws-2

The Atari History Museum doesn't mention anything either: http://www.atarimuseum.com/videogames/arcade/arcade75.html

No idea how I got the idea Universal forced them to take it off the market; maybe Wikipedia used to say something like that?

  7. I always considered it official since AtariAge gave it a rarity rating instead of an "H." ;)

I'd consider Telegames' releases official, since JTS' Atari "division" was still "supporting" Atari's platforms. Once Hasbro bought everything & released the Jaguar for homebrew development... Things get sticky. I want to say "Yes! Battlesphere is an official release!" But I think the correct answer is "No; it's an early homebrew," or maybe "It's a late prototype completed & released for fans."

  8. Opinion still seems split regarding Battlezone 2000..either it morphed into Hoverstrike or Hand Made Software were doing a seperate title, based around the earlier Lynx title.

Even the supposed experts outside of A.A cannot seem to agree on this one.

    Could be both.

I'd like something like 3D Construction Kit, perhaps with added lighting & texturing FX. And an optional 3rd person camera.

  9. They buy chips; we say we're buying chips.

They buy plastic; we say we're buying plastic.

But we have an extra expensive component: the Atari logo, which we got at fire sale prices just before our bankruptcy.

Atari SA: It's price without the power!
