I always considered it official since AtariAge gave it a rarity rating instead of an "H." I'd consider Telegames' releases official, since JTS' Atari "division" was still "supporting" Atari's platforms. Once Hasbro bought everything & released the Jaguar for homebrew development... Things get sticky. I want to say "Yes! Battlesphere is an official release!" But I think the correct answer is "No; it's an early homebrew," or maybe "It's a late prototype completed & released for fans."

Could be both. I'd like something like 3D Construction Kit, perhaps with added lighting & texturing FX. And an optional 3rd person camera.

They had a limited amount of time to get a working prototype together for the CES, & that wasn't enough time to get AMY working with everything else. Then they had a limited amount of time to get the ST finalized for production, & that still wasn't enough time to get AMY to work.

In the late 80's Atari Corp did have some success marketing their 8-bit computers in Eastern Europe, if what I've read is correct.

I think there's already been two FPGA projects, but they were too expensive for a commercial release.

I've been thinking the same thing for awhile. AtariAge is cool, but its users represent a very small portion of the web at large.

Crash Bandicoot. Primarily because Naughty Dog said they rejected the Jag without much thought. They were probably right, but still.

If it sold well they would've ordered more for their other stores. For Atari Corp this was something they'd needed for a long time; they'd never been able to rebuild their distribution network after Atari Inc was split up. But it was too late; Atari was running out of money & the PS1 had already been released. Walmart returned most of the systems shipped to them after Christmas.
