liquid in trs-80 model 100 battery compartment
pacman000 replied to pacman000's topic in Tandy Computers
Instructions for replacing the backup battery: https://klamfx.wordpress.com/2014/11/17/replacing-trs-80-model-100-rechargable-nicad-cmos-battery/ How long would it take for the leaky battery to destroy the PCB? -
I still wonder why Warner Interactive hasn't made a Tengen Classic. A little black not-NES. A couple of controllers; I'd be tempted to get one.

Got this a couple of years ago. Had some fun with it for a few months, then the display stopped working. It would switch back and forth from very dim to very dark. I copied what I was working on to a note pad, then put the TRS 80 away. Got it out again today, to try it again. There was some sort of liquid in or around the battery compartment. Anyone know what's wrong? Google and Duck Duck Go don't.

But I wish it was... I wish it was...

Game Over Videogames - %50 Off Atari 2600 Stuff
pacman000 replied to sramirez2008's topic in Atari 2600
Good news! Tho Game Over tends to be a bit more expensive anyway. -
I had some trouble understanding what he said.

Remember to get your NES Minis before Nintendo puts them back in the Vault! I usually think of Nintendo as the Disney of classic game companies, so these limited runs make sense. Doesn't mean that I like them, just that I get the business practice.

According to Racketboy the programmer eventually gave someone permission to distribute it: http://www.racketboy.com/retro/rarest-and-most-valuable-atari-2600-games

I've thought Polybius might've been inspired by Cube Quest for a while now. Wouldn't go as far to say that Polybus was Cube Quest's prototype, tho. I just think the rarity and trippiness might've allowed someone to incorporate a half-remembered version of the game into the legend. Person 1: "You remember that weird game back in, when was it,? '81" (Misremembers date.) Person 2: "No." Person 1: "It was like Tempest, but really weird, with lots of colored lights and stuff?" (Thinking of Cube Quest.) Person 2: "No, wait. Yeah, I think I might remember it. What was it's name again?" Person 3: "Weren't there some adults hanging around the arcade right around that time, kinda observing what was going on?" (There were police observing arcades at the time, looking for drug dealers.) Person 2: "Yeah, I think so. Didn't some kid have a seizure or commit suicide or something?" (Misremembering more actual events; like that kid who had an heart attack after an intense game of Brezerk.)

What about the 2000?

Weren't there a few different versions of the Jr?

Are they even a corporation? Given their size I'd think an LLC would be more practical.

Strange Super Mario World Cart
pacman000 replied to Cousin Vinnie's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It could be a contemporary bootleg, from when the game was new. -

Lucy's the jerk; Charlie's the blockhead. Tacos are nice, but I think I'd rather have quesadillas.

While messing around on Boriel's BASIC site I found this: http://takeda-toshiya.my.coocan.jp/pv1000/index.html That's the new version of the emulator page I copied earlier.

http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/ZX_BASIC:Released_Programs_-_PV1000 Someone made a version of BASIC for Z80 based systems. They even made a version for the PV-1000. Also has versions for the ColecoVision, Astrocade, etc. Complete list here: http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/ZX_BASIC:Other_architectures Someone already mentioned the Astrocade version another forum, perhaps the programming forum, but I couldn't find the thread again. Too many other threads about BASIC. It should be easier to find here.

Would consumers pay $250 for a 2d system when a $199 PS4 can do 2d & 3D?

Sounds like a good idea, but how would we start on it?

Thanks CatPix. Wondered if the glitches weren't caused by a lack of transparency. Looks sloppy today, but if it was common I can't blame Casio. I also wonder if some of the games tried to use background tiles for everything. Some games seem really jerky. Anyone know how they got 8 colors? I can understand two colors (1-bit per pixel; two possible colors; off or on,) four colors (2-bits per pixel; four possible combinations; four colors,) 16 colors (4-bits per pixel, 16 combinations; 16 colors.) I can even understand 9 colors (3-bits per pixel; 9 combinations; 9 colors.) But I can't find a way to get 8 colors. Could it have been like the Astrocade? 4-colors in two sections for 8 colors on the screen? Is there another way to get 8 colors?
