Hey! Riddle me this!
Why is Lego so goddamn expensive!?

It seems Legos have always been expensive. Part of it might be the limited production, but the other might be because they are not made as a throw-away toy. Legos are actually meant to last a long time with the newest bricks supposedly able to work with the earliest. While I had the occasional issue with a bad brick over the years, I have to admit the things are durable.

I have noticed a gradual drop in brick count as compared to prices over the years. It also does heavily depend on what you're getting, the licensed sets always have a higher price to brick ratio but even some of Lego's own brand sets have been ridiculous, especially the new Lego Police sets. Their new 4+ range is also a downright scam. In exchange for getting simpler sets to build you have to pay a wild premium. Some sets with sub 200 pieces cost as much as 40 dollars. It just annoys me, when I was a kid I couldn't buy Lego because I didn't have any money, now that I'm older I still can't buy Lego because it's prohibitively expensive and the value for money simply isn't there.
Oh well, I probably have bigger things to get annoyed over.
