  1. Nope, I never buy a system at launch. I think people who camp out and pay full price for systems are total idiots.

I usually wait til at least the first price drop for a system. And by then, any system bugs or glitches that usually show up in the first production runs will have been fixed.

And the best part of waiting is to see how the system does. If it's a success or if it fails. I mean really, why buy a Wii if it's going to end up like the GameCube, which I'm sure it will. I still laugh at the suckers who bought a Dreamcast at launch. Two years later they are left with a dead system. Ha!

As I see it, I think Microsoft will take the next generation with the Xbox 360. The PS3 is just too expensive, and the Wii is just too gimmicky.

  2. I'm happy with handhelds right now. If the definition of a next gen machine is one that'll play games that weren't previously possible last gen., then I've got all the next gen. goodness I need in the DS.

Ah, the DS is a frickin' joke with it's gimmicky features.

Most of the time the second screen is useless. In my opinion, Nintendo just added a second screen for gamers who are just too lazy to press START or SELECT to call up a map or inventory screen.

And the touch screen control? Bah! Give me good old digital D-pad control any day over that crap!

But the main reason why the DS sucks is because the idiots at Nintendo did not give it the ability to play GB and GBC games.

With that the case, NOTHING beats the GBA SP. There is still 2D gaming goodness left in the good old GBA SP with titles like Swordcraft Story 2, Super Robot Taisen, Scurge: Hive, and more. And let's not forget the retrogaming goodness the GBA-SP has as well with Konami Arcade Advanced, Atari Anniversary Advance, Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits, Namco Museum, and Activision Anthology.

For handheld gaming, nothing beats the GBA SP. And it plays GB and GBC games.

  3. The PS2 will be my last console. I am NOT getting into the next gen systems. The PS3 is just too expensive, and I don't feel like buying a new system just to play the same games but with better graphics. As for the GameCube 2, I mean Wii, I have no interest in that system whatsoever. I'm not interested in playing the same Nintendo garbage that Nintendo rehashes with every new console in a gimmicky new way. Bah! Sure, the "virtual console" idea on the Wii is nice. But why would I bother to buy a Wii to play NES, SNES, or even Sega Genesis games when I can download emulators & ROMs for free off the web for play on my PC?

Yep, the PS2 will be it. The only thing I'm looking forward to when the next gen starts is all the PS2 software that will be on clearance to make room for next gen software. I'll be stocking up on $9.99 titles like crazy.

  4. Now this is what Infogrames should have come out with in the first place instead of that Nintendo-on-a-chip crap!!!!!

They better damn well include Solaris, Secret Quest, Dark Chambers, and Othello in this new system.

A 2600 Lunar Lander sounds interesting. Wonder if they will have a 2600 version of Stunt Cycle as well? That would be sweet indeed!

If the reviews are good, I'll be getting this puppy.

  5. Strange. Everytime I posted pics, they showed up in the preview. I don't understand why they show up in the preview but not in the final post. Oh well, no problemo, I won't link to screenshots anymore. :)

  6. Being a employee of the Museum Of Science & Industry in Chicago, I was able to check out the Game On exhibit of games from Pong to today. But I must say, the show is NOT WORTH paying admission to see. It isn't even worth seeing free, which I did. It TOTALLY sucks major arse! The majority of the games on display for play are $#!t. You could just as well play the same crap on demo kioks at Toys R Us, EB, GameStop, or Game Crazy.

The collection of classic coin-ops is p!$$ poor! Just Asteroids, Dig Dug, Galaga, Space Invaders, Missile Comand, Ms Pac Man, Berzerk, Star Wars, and Discs Of Tron. It's like WTF! There should have been MORE classic coin-ops than just that!

If you are in the Chicago area and visit the Museum Of Science & Industry, save your money and STAY AWAY from Game On! If you want to see something cooler and MUCH BETTER, check out the FANTASTIC Body Worlds exhibit:

  7. Another quick hack has been done & posted.

This time it's a medieval fantasy themed take on Donkey Kong called Dragon Knight.

Here you are a brave knight on a quest to rescue a fair maiden held captive by a evil dragon. In the first screen you must avoid the dragon's fireballs. In the second screen, you must evade baby dragons roaming the platforms.

I wanted to change the hammer to a sword, but I couldn't find the hammer graphic. I think it might be because the hammer looks to be 2 separate sprites instead of just one. Not sure about that though. Oh well.

    Enjoy!

  8. Two new ideas came to me, so two new hacks are up!

    Monkeyshines! (Hack of Jr. Pac-Man)

Clean out the monkey exhibits in a zoo's ape house while avoiding the monkeys chasing you.

    and

    McDonalds (Hack of Cakewalk)

Serve up happy meals, shakes, Big Macs, and really fresh chicken McNuggets. But avoid the rats!

  9. I gotta tell you. This statement makes me consider any future or past opinion you present worthless. The ONLY way to judge a game is to play it. It's one thing to say "It doesn't look interesting to me," or "I don't like the style of graphics," or "I don't like that genre of games," but to say it sucks without playing it is exactly akin to judging a book without reading it, a movie without watching it, or an album without listening to it.

Today's games are like Rap Hip Hop music. You don't have to listen to every Rap Hip Hop tune to know the whole music genre sucks ass. If you hear one "nigga gangsta thug" rapper spewing audio garbage, you've heard them all.

It's the same with today's games. I don't have to play every one to know they suck ass. Today's games are all graphics & no gameplay. You don't have to play 'em all to see that. Today's games are for graphics whores. Graphics whores aren't real gamers. Graphics whores don't care about gameplay. The only thing graphics whores care about is how many polys there are in a game.
