  1. Yep, it is a bad decision for Microsoft to not allow backwards compatibility for it's Xbox 1 users with the Xbox 2. As for me, the main reason I got a PS2 was because it was backwards compatiable with PS1 games. And I will be getting a PS3 because of it's continued backwards compatibility with the PS2 and PS1. Currently I play more PS1 games than PS2 games. I have 24 PS1 games I still enjoy, and only 6 for the PS2 which are Atari Anthology, Activision Anthology, Midway Arcade Treasures 1, Midway Arcade Treasures 2, Gradius V, and Stuntman. As you can see, I mainly enjoy retro collections, and don't care for today's crappy, suck @$$, all graphics and no gameplay games. And I will probably be only buying retro collections on the PS3 as well. As far as backwards compatibility goes, it pissed me off that Nintendo didn't allow the DS to play original GB and GBC games. It's like, what's the deal with that? They let you play GBA games on the DS, but they don't let you play GB/GBC games. Makes no sense. Doesn't matter though. I think the DS is just a GIMMICK system anyway. The stylus/touch pad control is a joke. And I think the second screen was added for gamers who are just too lazy to press START or SELECT to view a map or inventory screen. Yep, besides having the attention span of a hamster, today's gamers are lazy as well. Nintendo says the DS is not the next Game Boy, so I hope the next Game Boy system they do come out with will play GB/GBC/GBA games. Backwards compatibility is a big factor with me.
  2. Yep, it's that time again. Another new hack is ready for play. First it was soccer playing chickens. Now I bring you one-on-one basketball playing kangaroos in a hack of Atari's original Basketball. http://jims_digital_domain.tripod.com/dwnloads.htm roobball.zip
  3. Interesting post. I would love to see Infogrames/Atari come out with a adapter that would let you play 2600 games on your GBC/GBA. Or at the very least come out with a GBA version of Atari Anthology. Would be so cool to play Gravitar and Star Raiders on the go. I just wish they would have included Solaris, Secret Quest, and Othello in Atari Anthology.
  4. Ah yes, it would be good if they did a custom Atari-on-a-chip design instead of being cheap and going with the NES junk. Oh, seeing that DS Atari Classics made me sick. I am SO SICK of the trend to "Ghetto-ize" games today. Either with GARBAGE Hip Hop/Rap soundtracks, the ghetto thug looking characters (GTA), or the tagged graphics in DS Atari Classics. It's one thing if they want to "Ghetto-ize" sports games like basketball or football, but when they put crap like that into other games where it DOES NOT belong, then gaming today has gone to hell.
  5. Being new here, I don't know if this was covered before, so bear with me. When I read a review of the Flashback system at classicgaming.com, it was mentioned that Infogrames/Atari is working on another console. Does anybody have any more info on this? Will it be another piece of crap, Nintendo-on-a-chip system? Or will they make an effort to do a proper, custom designed, plug and play device? I would love to see a plug and play device, this time styled as a 2600 or 2600 Jr, that would have built-in games but would also let you plug in actual 2600 games as well. That would be so cool. Or maybe a plug & play system with Lynx games. I would love to see a plug & play based on the 8-bit 800/XL/XE computer line, but most of my favorite games I played on the 800XL weren't made by Atari. Like Jumpman, Jumpman Jr, Koronis Rift, The Eidolon, and Rescue On Fractalus. So that would be out. The Flashback was a nice idea, but was kinda pointless seeing as there was Atari Anthology for the PS2 & Xbox consoles. The only thing bad about Atari Anthology is the glitch in Millipede where the Millipede won't come out and the bees keep dropping. And the only way to bring out the Millipede is to let your shooter get killed so the playfield "resets" itself.
  6. Ok, no problemo. Next hack I make I'll post it here. I'm just used to forums that only allow you to give a link to a file, and don't let you attach anything other than GIF or JPG images. Yeah, I have dial-up too, so I know how it is. Though my page isn't too bad, compared to the first version. I can deal with the speed. I just don't like the pop-ups. But of course that is to be expected from free web site services like Tripod & Geocities. Course I can use IE with a pop-up blocker, but IE has so much trouble, I'd rather use Netscape. Yes, I see quite a few Berzerk hacks in the database. Surprised nobody has done a Dr. Who hack before.
  7. Another new quick hack is up. This one is on Berzerk. It's called Dr. Who: Dalek Invasion, based on the hit British sci-fi TV show. Of course the Doctor in my game is the great Tom Baker Doctor. I would have left in a flapping scarf, but then the character looked like a girl with long hair when it ran. So I axed the scarf and just kept the hat. If you take too long, the bouncing head of Davros will come after you.
  8. It's a older model X-Wing. Yeah, that's it, a older model... Wasn't able to find that sprite to fix. Still a newbie at hacking. But if anybody can change it to look like the shots are coming from the wing tips instead of the nose, please feel free to edit the hack.
  9. As promised, yet another Jamcat hack is up. This time it's a Star Wars "special edition" hack of Galaxian. Pilot your X-Wing against squadrons of TIE fighters. Enjoy! And may the Force be with you!
  10. I'm working on another cool hack. Should be up soon. I'll post notice when it is.
  11. Hey Stan Jr, Yep, Ms. Suc-Man graphics are amusing. And adding a chicken theme to the soccer game does make it different and seem like a totally new game. It's just fun to see the chickens flapping their wings as they run around kicking the "egg" ball. Who needs EA and Madden Football when there is RealSports Chicken Egg Soccer to play!
  12. Hey Stan Jr, Sure, you are welcome to add them to the Atari Age data base. By the way, I just finished and put up yet another hack. This one is called RealSports Chicken Egg Soccer. It's a cute game of scooer with, what else, chickens! It's my most fun hack yet. http://jims_digital_domain.tripod.com/dwnloads.htm
  13. Hello 2600 fans. My new 2600 hacks are now up and available for your 2600 gaming pleasure. http://jims_digital_domain.tripod.com/dwnloads.htm Here are the current hacks I have available: GARDEN INVADERS Space Invaders meets the bugs of Millipede. MS. SUC-MAN A "different" take on Ms. Pac-Man. SEAQUEST 2 A aquatic take on the game UFO Patrol. BIPLANE AIR RAIDERS. Just better looking planes in M Network's Air Raiders. AMOEBAOIDS Asteroids on a microscopic level with amoebas instead of rocks.
