  1. There is an official 4-way joystick for the NES. It's called the Capcom Power Stick Fighter. It's an arcade joystick for Super Famicom/SNES ( the American box has ugly Western Street Fighter II artwork ) and also Famicom/NES. I have the Japanese version which has two detachable cables, one for Famicom and one for Super Famicom. The joystick itself is arcade quality and it can be switched between 4-way and 8-way. I have tried 4-way on Pac-Man and Donkey Kong Jr. I'm having a harder time controlling Pac-Man this way than with a D-pad but maybe that's because I'm used to it. I also have a Jakks Plug and Play controller modded to work with the NES, however this adds a little lag since the signal from the switches doesn't directly go to the console. I'm wondering if there is a way around this. I have another exact same controller modded for Atari 2600/Master System with even a pause function on the controller's cute light-up coinslot ( consoles need to be modded themselves as well for this, in case of 2600 it's an RGB mod ). For these consoles there is no lag. It works wonders with Jr. Pac Man and also the homebrew Lady Bug. I have Ms. Pac-Man for NES which I play on my Famicom with a NES to Famicom cartridge adapter. My arcade stick plugs into the accessory controller port on the side of the Famicom, and this input is ignored when you play a NES game with an adapter. I've ordered a Famicom to NES controller adapter cable to circumvent this. I'm still waiting for it so I haven't play Ms. Pac-Man yet with this stick.
  2. I just received a new boxed copy of Road runner. Seems to work fine. However after about an hour or an hour and a half of continuous gameplay something strange happens when you die. When the Coyote gets you it sort of stops. You don't see your regular 'death animation'. Then you get a next screen where he pushes you offscreen. Then you continue. It's annoying and interrupts the flow of the game. Has anybody witnessed this? I'm scared something is wrong with the cart. Could it be a programming oversight?
  3. I'm also interested in a copy. I'm buying a Jaguar for this. I'm thinking of maybe modding a CX80 to work as an ST mouse as has been done in the past and even commercially sold. Does anyone have experience with this?
  4. I have a CX 80 Trak ball for my Atari 2600. I bought new only two weeks ago. It works beautifully in analog mode with hacks of games like Millipede and Missile Command by Atari Age. I hate to admit this but today, while playing, I sort of hit the controller with my fist, not the trackball itself, but the surrounding plastic out of frustration. Please don't Judge me for abusing Atari, I had a rough week at work as well stomach acid :-( Now the downward motion has reduced responsiveness, it's like the ball doesn't spin as rapidly in that direction. I feel so bad about this. Is this something that can be repaired or should I buy another one?
  5. I think it's nothing abnormal.maybe some sort of ghosting since it's on a black background only. I've seen it on some other Atari games as well. I'll take a picture but not sure if it will be visible there

  7. I played my copy of Missile commanx tb yesterday on a Sony pvm with rgb scart. My atari is rgb modded. I notice the background is not entirely uniformly black like it is in other games. There are these whitish streaks. It's not my screen. Only missile command haz this. Is this due to the programming of the game? Has anyone noticed this?
  8. I use this Trak Ball for recoded hacks by Atari Age for games like Centipede. These new versions make the game playable in true trackball/analog mod. Here's why this doesn't work with my RGB-modded Atari: The mod includes the ability to mount an "extra" switch on the left joystick for additional functions (palette select and remote "reset" and "select" switches functionality). The extra button activates the inputs normally used for left and right direction of the joystick at the same time. This is an "impossible" combination for a joystick, but not for a trackball in real TB mode, which therefore randomly activates the extra features of my RGB mod (in particular, it activates the reset and select switches repeatedly making the game impossible to play). The console needs to be modified to temporarily disable the "extra" button functionality with a switch. A simple switch to break the wire going to either pin 3 or 4 of the "extra" 7 pins connector on the RGB board might be all that's needed.
  9. The CX80 has no 7800 compatible buttons. Tim Worthington created the RGB mod that renders my system incompatible with the Trak Ball. I'm in Belgium, Europe but I don't mind shipping it to the States. For more information about this situation check out what I posted today in the thread 'Trak ball games'
  10. Tim Worthington has confirmed that the Trak Ball is incompatible with the RGB mod. A switch needs to be installed to deactivate the extra button. Can anyone do this mod for me?
  11. Thank you so much. I'm so relieved. Is there anybody on the forum who would be willing to do this for me?
  12. I'm using it on my Atari Jr modded for RGB. I don't have another 2600 or Atari sysem for that matter but I could hook the TB up to my Master System or Genesis and see if it has the same issues. On Saturday I could go to a retro store where I live and ask to hook it up to their 2600. So you think the TB itself isn't causing the issue? Why does it work in JS mode thën, does that require less power? T
  13. Is there someone who could repair it for me?
  14. I'm using the actual carts from Atari age: Centipede, Millipede, Star wars and Missile Command. The Star Wars cartridge doesn't work at all but the cart itself is causing the issue because without the TB plugged in, it doesn't work either. I also thought it might have been modded for Atari ST but that can't be the case because Centipede and Missile Command would autodetect an ST mouse
  15. I recently bought a new in box old stock unused CX80 Trak ball. It doesn't work in TB mode. It does work in JS mode on other regular 2600 games. I'm testing it with the Atari age trak ball hack series. The game cycles through the game variations number at the title screen, graphics glitch, it's unplayable and then it freezes with vertical lines. I can return the trak ball and get another one. There are two other new in box ones but I'm a bit paranoid that they will be from the same faulty supply. Has anybody experienced this? Does someone offer repairs?
  16. If you had one of those, would you be able to repair it?
  17. I recently bought a new in box old stock unused CX80 Trak ball. It doesn't work in TB mode. I tested it with the Atari age trak ball hack series. It does work in joy stick mode on other regular 2600 games. It cycles through the game variations number at the title screen on its own, graphics glitch, the game is unplayable and then it freezes with horizontal stripes. I can return the trak ball but I'm a bit paranoid that the other two new ones on Ebay will be from the same faulty supply. Has anybody experienced this. Can someone repair this for me? I would be so grateful. Desperate to play Millipede TB with it
  18. Hello I recently bought a new in box old stock unused CX80 Trak ball to use with the Atari Age TB series. It doesn't work in TB mode, only in JS mode on other regular 2600 games. What happens is that, at the beginning of the game, it cycles throught the game variations, the variation number on the title screen changes on its own. Graphics glitch, I can't play the game and then it freezes with horizontal stripes. I can return the trak ball. There are two other NIB ones on Ebay but I'm a bit paranoid now that they will be from the same faulty supply. Has anybody experienced this? Is anybody willing to repair this? I would be so grateful
