  1. Hi IlChengis,

I will definitely take that into consideration down the road once I get started on these other extra mods.

    Sounds good, thank you. icon_thumbsup.gif

On another note, I received mine as well! I have yet to try it, been so busy. Did you change the loader to a different one, or kept the pre-loaded one?

  2. Sure thing.

tanooki2017: Thank you very much for sharing your mod plan. Very interesting. I have no problem soldering, but I think I'll limit my mods to SainT's card and the LCD upgrade for the time being.

Are you planning on documenting your work on the Lynx once all the parts arrive? Something like pics, or maybe a YouTube video? Not trying to add to your workload, but if you manage to document it in any way and share the final result, I am sure it would be very well received. Heck, you could consider putting together a kit, perhaps.

In any case... thanks for all the info. icon_thumbsup.gif

  3. I have also just ordered the McWill LCD kit, icon_thumbsup.gif 40mm speaker, 3W mono Class D amplifier to power the speaker and give it more volume as well as some oomf in the lower end to drive the new 40mm speaker, and DC-DC converter fix kit just in case I blow something or it quits turning on.

tanooki2017, I am aware of the McWill LCD kit, but can you share any more info on the other mods you listed? Thank you

I was referring to the software which runs in the PIC on the card which handles the "real" FATFS and copying from SD card to SRAM (as far as I understand). Not the software which runs on the Lynx. Just look into the source (1st post). The PIC receives commands from the Lynx.

If the PIC software would be open/could be replaced, there would be room for more (like off-loading calculations) features besides the filesystem.

    Ok, thanks for clarifying.

  5.

No, that's staying closed. Keeping that closed is the only IP protection I have, as the board is otherwise off the shelf parts.

I see the Lynx software in the start post. What about the PIC (correct?) SW?

    Can it be updated?

Do you plan to open this as well?

Hi guys. The above exchange confused me a bit. Are you saying that the source code is available for an earlier version of the menu/browsing software, but the latest version is closed source due to IP (since hw is off the shelf)?

I assume the cards are shipping with the latest version (non downloadable), correct? Is anyone running a 3rd party version of the browsing software? If yes, is it possible to revert back to the original?

Probably stupid questions, but my card is in the mail and I haven't had the chance to play with it yet, so all I can do is speculate. :D Thanks for clarifying!
