  1. Hi all, As I have mentioned on my blog I keep finding Sega CD systems these days. It's very weird. Anyway, here is a picture of the one I need to sell next. I thought I would offer it here before eBay or Gamegavel. I would like to get at least $50 + actual shipping (probably $15-$20 if past sales are any indication) for it. It includes everything needed to play: The Genesis, side-load CD, two power supplies, RF, controllers (one classic, one 6-button), and a few classic Sega CD games. It's a nice starter system. The only thing it is missing is the connecting metal hardware tabs and whatnot. The end holder is there and works fine even without being secured. Questions, offers, just send PM.
  2. As a collector of these games, I hope that any re-release would clearly be labeled as such. I am more a player than speculator, but it still hurts a little when you're an early adopter and then the value of your past purchases is diluted by a reissued product. I seem to remember that these being limited editions was at least implied all cases and made explicit in others. That said, I already have all these (and in some cases paid a bit to acquire them) so am not interested in any re-releases.
  3. Ah, I love it when there is crossover from my two favorite forums. This thread over on Audiokarma might help you out and if you search the site there are probably others. I just remembered this one because it is recent. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?p=3604285#post3604285 In general, Coca-Cola, Brasso, and fine steel wool tend to be the contenders. Good luck!
  4. Looks like vacuum cleaner to me! A very cool one, though...
  5. Hi all, I have been having much fun playing Genesis games lately and would like to be able to do so while "on the go" as I have quite the commute these days. I've been looking for a Nomad for awhile, but sellers on eBay really have way of scaring me off of these things with language like "just a few scratches" and "broken battery cover, but its ok" "lines on screen" etc. I would much rather deal with a trusted seller and am willing to pay a bit of a premium for a good system. I have a spare Sega Genesis/CD system (complete with everything needed, including the two power supplies, and a couple of games) that I would be willing to trade. PM me if interested!
  6. This game is such a pain. I do have one and I just tested it and it worked every time I put it into my 6er. PM sent.
  7. hi carmel--a lite brite is a thing with a light bulb and illuminted pegs that you can make drawings out of.... kind of.

    Bira Bira

I fondly remember the original Bira Bira posts in r.g.v.c. 9. I think many of us have been there... my advice is to honor the auction. Some you win, some you don't. I once sold a complete Atari 5200 setup for $7.34 and shipping. Beautiful system. Just so happened that no one bid on it. I understand your financial situation makes it hard to do this, but doing the right thing has a way of paying you back. That said, I don't know much about the market for adult DVDs on eBay!
  10. When the big one hits, my collection will likely be destroyed. I try not to think about it too much. I do have a Gameboy Color in the earthquake kit, as I imagine after survival that fighting boredom on the trip to somewhere else might be a problem. I also have whiskey and a pack of Camel cigarettes in our survival kit. I am thankful that most of my keepsake photos etc. are digitized at this point.
  11. That poor //e! That's one of the saddest ones I have ever seen!
  12. My favorite manual is for Ballblazer. I had (and have) the 5200 version and will never forget cracking it open for the first time on a hot summer day and reading all about this futuristic game played in Rotofoils from every corner of the galaxy... I loved the game before I even put it into the console. There's a section in there where it's set up like a sporting broadcast and I remember reading it aloud to my buddy in a Howard Cosell voice, a la the drag racing guys in Better Off Dead. Ballblazer is a pretty easy game to play, but the manual made it that much better. Still one of the best. I was fairly pleased when I bought Ballblazer Champions for the PS1 because the instruction manual still had a little bit of the charm. Too bad the game itself kind of sucked.
  13. Humble suggestion: is there any way to have a public shared AtariAge photo gallery where users could post photos like this one, maybe accompanied by the seller's eBay name, if so inclined? The Gallery of Bad Packing Jobs? Atari Killers? Pathetic Packagers? eBay iDiots? As many of you know, I have several photos to contribute already... Tanman, my condolences for your loss. Hope those 3 heavy Atari computer power supplies I shipped in an old paper bag get there OK.
  14. Looks great on mine! 32" Samsung CRT.
  15. That adapter does not look right at all... should have told me you needed these, I could have shipped with your SIO cable! PM me if you are still looking; I have plenty of these. The RF cords are generic, but I can throw in a coax adapter and I have plenty of power supplies.
  16. eBay Seller: pdangler-half If anyone here is by chance from the UK and has written to me regarding my inflated shipping, please check your messages. I will not throw carts in a bubble envelope and ship them internationally for $3 and change. FYI to other International (non-Canadian) bidders:
  17. :D I am totally naming my new band "Soldering in Alameda." I want to take a 800 XL give it the 32 in 1 OS upgrade, video upgrade, RAM upgrade and VBXE 2 upgrade and then call it Frankenstein.
  18. I have a 5200 we could test it on if you like, but am unable to dump ROMs at this time. There are a couple of Bay Area people who can though, so if you are eager to get it going this weekend, drop me a PM and I will get in touch with them (or, if they see this thread, they will probably get in touch themselves!). That said, CPUWIZ is the master and you can't go wrong in dealing with him for testing of this item.
  19. I'm not either. I have had a couple of pretty good deals on systems out there and no one has bitten. For me personally it's been pretty much of a down time these last few weeks. I will never start a system at .99 on eBay ever again. It's definitely worth the listing fee to put it in the area of what you are looking for. I sold a 5200 once for $16.00 shipped and ever since then have never started a system auction that low. Definitely hit or miss, but congrats on the good finds!
  20. I have been burnt one time too many by leaving + feedback for a buyer and then having them leave me a litany of paranoia-fueled negative commentary regarding my failure to fully disclose a scratch on the back of a Pitfall cartridge. I kid you not; this $1.99 sale cost me more time then it could ever possibly be worth and since that time I have never left feedback for a seller until I receive + feedback. So far, so good and I fully explain this on my about me page on eBay so it's out there from the beginning.

    A request...

I've been meaning to do a few of these for some time now-I will try to do at least a few of them over the next week or so. I have a rough outline for a Merry X-Mas cart box somewhere.
  22. That video was awesome. One of the things I love most about this hobby: there may be limited copies of some of these rare games, but there's seemingly no limit to the number of people who have incredible experiences, stories, and personal histories that are in some way tied to Atari. This tale is by far one of my favorites. Thanks so much for sharing and welcome to AtariAge!
  23. Yup, that's about what I am thinking. Threw them in my Box of DoomTM and will probably just put that whole thing on eBay for some lucky buyer. Buy enough stuff, bound to get some crap.
  24. Or rewire them for "authentic" lamp cables?
