Oh man, in San Jose even!

I am going! My wife is coming as well--My birthday is Aug 2, so we are making a nice trip out of it and I can't wait to see all of you. Sorry, Al... she says we can't have any roommates. I will also buy a drink for anyone who hassles my wife about her QVC addiction. I have played that up as a running meme so need to make it real.

My wife added two movies last night (for a "date") to our Wii instant queue--Women in Trouble and The Open Road and the Women one was so horrifically bad that we went right on to The Open Road which was kind of cheesy and starred Justin Timberlake, but I am a good husband so watched it anyway. It was actually not that bad. I was happy to see Lyle Lovett and I don't mind Jeff Bridges. Anyway, point is we did not fork over $4.99 or worse to the Comcast evil empire for a terrible movie. Then later, I watched three episodes of Weeds. I love this thing and I don't even like TV that much aside from sports. Sometimes it is such a pleasure to live in the 21st century.

PM sent and a revision to that--the cable is 5' 10", just a bit shorter than me. Why they did not just make it 6' I have no idea. It's actually a heavier gauge than I usually see--maybe someone made it themselves. I know that is possible, as I also have one end that looks like NOS---kinda looks like you can just crimp the cable in there.

Sorry I was slow on that--I will be packing carts later tonight and can give you a better idea of what I have. Feel free to send a general list of what you are looking for as well. Had another big deal go down that took some of my attention away from eBay. p Sent a PM this morning. Let me know what is doable for you

Non-working 2600 consoles/interest check/offers
phaxda replied to phaxda's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Well, another weekend and another messy gaming room. I accidentally blocked off the circuit breakers with some game shelves and my landlord needed to do some electrical work but had to wait while I cleared space, so now I have a mad wife and a mad landlord on my hands! Please PM if you have any interest in these systems at all. This beauty, which had the switches busted off in shipping, is also available. -
Thanks for the links--I will be cleaning it up today! 1025 printer still available!

You are added and I think I have another Deadly Duck. Let me know if you are interested-- I will sell for the 99 cents it fetched.

I have a couple of happy game-getting memories. The first was when we got our Atari 5200 for Christmas from my aunt and uncle, but I have told that story a million times before, so... That same aunt and uncle came to visit again about a year later for Thanksgiving--they alternate Christmas and Thanksgiving visits--and my uncle could not believe that we still had only the three games and the Pac-Man pack in cart that they had given us for Christmas a year earlier. My sister and brother and I played the heck out of those games (Mario Bros., Moon Patrol, and Dig Dug) but my family was poor and could not afford new games (even at the closeout prices) and NO ONE had a 5200 so borrowing or trading was out of the question. It stunk. We did have one friend who "found" a copy of Pole Position (I think he stole it) somewhere and let us borrow that for a couple of weeks. But bottom line was, we did not have many games until my aunt and uncle decided to take us to Toys 'R' Us for an early Christmas. They did not have kids of their own, so really spoiled us. We got Dreadnought Factor, Kaboom!, Star Raiders, Space Dungeon (with the cool holder) and best of all, TWO beautiful Wico Joysticks. It was totally awesome! I remember we went home and played Star Raiders for hours. I think the tab for all that was almost $100--5200 Wico sticks were expensive even back then. This was over 20 years ago and I can still remember it super-clearly. The other good memory was the first time I bought my own games with my own paper route money. I saved up and ordered direct form Atari, as by that time you could no longer buy 5200 games in the store unless you got lucky and found some old stock buried in the back (more on that in a bit). I ordered Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalas because the ad could have said "crap game from George Lucas for Atari 5200" and I would have bought it because Star Wars was still all the rage. I also got Berzerk and the most important item-- a coveted 2600 adapter. The only problem with that was that our trusty 4-port needed to be modified to work with the adapter and we had to send it away to Atari for the modification, meaning that we would be without it for a week. As an ingenious child, however, I scheduled it perfectly so that I sent the Atari right before heading to Boy Scout camp for a week. Camp was OK, but I could not wait to get back for my new games and that adapter. I was thrilled by all of it and will never forget the first time I heard the little "ding" at the end of the LucasFilm logo screen. Every time I play Ballblazer, it takes me back to that day after summer camp. The final exciting game-getting was when I happened to stop by a Toys 'R' Us near my grandmother's house in Rochester NY in maybe 1989 or so and they had ALL the RealSports games as old stock and I bought them for $1.99 each. That was truly awesome. Hmm, maybe that is not the final one. I was VERY excited to get my copy of Adventure II as well!

Of course! For AtariAge members, always to Canada or wherever they may live! I forgot my usual disclaimer, but feel free to contact me on eBay and I will add you to my approved bidders list or whatever I need to do. I love Canada--it's just that my post office has historically not (I have started going to a new PO, though). Just ask Shawn Sr. how they have done me wrong in the past... Grrr.

Had a great time hanging out with Big_Mo this morning. Super nice guy with lots of great stories! We had some coffee and took a nice walk around. I did pick up the 1200 (yay!) and some other stuff and will be giving a lot of it away (for karmic purposes). The one thing I really would like to give away immediately, however, is an Atari 1025 printer. I unfortunately have no use for it. The bad thing is that it is heavy for shipping, but if you want it I can probably help out with it a little bit. Just want to pass it along. Maurice, great to meet you and my door is aways open if you are on this side of the Bay! EDIT: any tips on cleaning out a 1200XL keyboard? Some of they keys are non-working so I am going to see what's inside. Have my eraser and rubbing alcohol handy...

Well a week later, auctions are beginning to end, and there are still some deals to be found!
-
Never been happier to have my pre-prod cart #5, and it was indeed a bargain! I will happily pay the new price to get my little bro one for his bday.
-
I was so happy when I picked up a PS1 memory card last week. It came with a PS1 console but I really just wanted the card. Sold the console as an "audiophile" CD player on eBay--they love those SCPH 1001 ones.

Man, this is awesome. I have been watching "Weeds" for the past hour and a half. Comcast on Demand can suck it.

In er, uh, celebration of eBay's new 99 cent free listing thing I have been watching the Masters on TV (NOT a Phil Mickelson fan, but good job anyway) and listing Atari games on eBay. Everything starting at 99 cents with some nice fun and rare games in there. I am hoping that recent attention given to Atari auctions will help drive the market on some of these, which would be nice considering that eBay+Paypal is going to take a good cut of my sales in fees! But I am willing to give it a try. My next round of listings will be on GameGavel, so if you prefer that, just hang tight and check it out next week. Believe it or not, most of these games are doubles so there is more to come! Any questions, just ask. eBay Seller: pdangler-half

See picture, I am not sure about these. They look brand-new but I have trouble calling them "sealed" as the plastic they are in is very thick so maybe someone bagged them after purchase for resale? The orange price tags read $8.00, $10.00, and $8.00. I would be delighted to get the marked price of $26.00 shipped for these, but if that is outrageous just shoot me an offer.

Wow, I have been negligent! Crazy Climber and I have done any number of deals--I think I have been the seller most of the time, but I think I bought some things off of him a long time ago... anyway, things have always gone most well. He is one of those user names that I like to see PMs from when I mention something in the Marketplace, as I think to myself "awesome, I can rid of item X without having to worry about a ton of back and forth, lowball offers, etc. cause CC is here!"

Whoops, sent that from my iPhone and apologize for the double post.

I will come pick it up tonight! Pm sent, call me...

Will this really help me get rid of the switchbox and get better picture?
phaxda replied to Gavica's topic in Atari 2600
I sell quite a few systems on eBay and I always include a direct adapter with them. More than one person has written to tell me how much easier that made it! (I include hookup instructions as well.) If anyone really thinks switchboxes are better, I have a bunch of them that I will gladly sell to you for the same price as direct adapters, $3.00 apiece... I would be shocked if I got any takers . The adapter is way better, but I am willing to put money where mouth is.
