  1. Got all mine here: http://www.atari2600.com/ccp7/ecom-prodshow/Music-Mate-ATA26ACC0062.html
  2. Yup, and it'll make someone happy for the holidays--I am OK with it.
  3. Yup, per the wife I'll be selling mine that I preordered from Best Buy unless the market is saturated (but it does not look like that is going to be the case).
  4. I have one of the Christmas carts, and also my 5200 collection is in homemade boxes; we have very similar collections! I think it's worth the space.
  5. Has anyone bought anything? A couple of his prices are almost reasonable even with the high ($22 for most things) cost of shipping. Thought I might treat myself to some "rarities" that are no longer really so.
  6. I am addicted World Golf Tour. It's one of the best golf sims I have ever played and runs in any browser for free. The rub is that you have to buy balls and club upgrades to be any good, but it's totally addictive and very social when playing with others. I like it a lot and it's kind of retro in that it takes very little time to just play a game. Nine holes alone take maybe 20 minutes, tops, 30 or so with someone else. If you like golf games, you have probably already found it (PM me your username!) but even if you don't it is worth a shot. It's fun.
  7. Should I be planning on buying a second tablet controller for this thing? I know the Wiimotes will also work, but...
  8. I know this might be a question better asked on the Ubuntu forum and poking around there got me the answer that I needed (however inelegant), but why does every single emulator mess up my netbook's resolution when I run it in fullscreen and then exit? Sick of searching the web for answers and it's not like I am a complete dummy, but it just kind of annoying. Shouldn't they exit more gracefully? Anyway, I have just been restoring the resolution using: xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600 This works fine, of course (and yes, i made a "reso" alias so I don't have to remember the command every time), but it just seems odd that this happens. Is there a better way to restore the resolution each time I play? The backstory on this is that I am preparing for a trip and commandeered my wife's old Toshiba NB205 to use as a spiffy emulation machine. It came with Windows Starter, so that's why I've gone Ubuntu on it and it runs great for the most part. It's just this one thing bugging me and I had this dream of letting my Dad play on it with the USB Atari sticks, but it will freak him out if the resolution goes weird on him. He is not a computer expert. But he does love Atari! Any help from gurus appreciated.
  9. I did not preorder the Wii and it took me a few months to find one, so I got the deluxe. Wife does not know yet, but I think she will like it. With my luck it will have integrated QVC with one-click ordering from the tablet...
  10. Well, that answers that question--thanks guys! I have been draggin my feet on something like this as my modded Wii is pretty good at playing video and all, but that bit with the football on the screen and the stats on the tablet, I am totally sold. I should have preordered one to sell too, I guess because it looks like I will be hanging on to this as my media center. We don't even have a Blu-Ray player yet, so this will be quite and advancement in technology for our entertainment system.
  11. More on TVii: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7-57512253-221/nintendo-tvii-tries-to-succeed-where-google-tv-has-failed/ Kinda getting sold on this--I hope they get it to integrate with cable companies.
  12. Here is another forum-appropriate picture of my "rarest and most expensive" one... (My wife loved that quip, CPU.) Also note the "Sub Commander" beard that I am growing for the Fantasy Baseball playoffs. I really need a hat!
  13. My wife asked if we could use Netflix on the Wii U. I had assumed so, but confirmed and read all this cool stuff about Nintendo TV, which sounds awesome. As a sports fan, I especially like this part:
  14. Wow, if I started a thread and posted every rude eBay seller who had over cussed me out or thrown a casual insult my way when responding to a lowballish bid, it would be at least a few pages by now. It's the rough and dirty world of internet peer-to-peer commerce--if you're going to take part in it, you really have to expect that not everyone is going to be the most polite person in the world. Unless you deal with me, of course, because I am super-polite (my mom taught me to be). And let me be clear: starting a thread about rude people and ending your first post in that thread with the word "asshole" (even after some apparent editing already) says more about you than the sellers about which you complain. Maybe that is impolite of me to say, but I think even mom would agree with me here.

  16. I preordered from Best Buy. The store is close to me so I can go pick it up and I know I will want to get this console someday so why not at launch... They take Paypal, by the way. I used the "Bill Me Later" for this one. If it turns out they are selling for crazy money on eBay I will likely sell it then buy another one once the hoopla has died down.
  17. Sweet, love the stack o' monitors.
  18. OK how the hell do I embed a YouTube video on here now? It used to be so easy. I am a moron. Tip to others. Just use the www link, not the embed stuff from Youtube!
  19. Hey guys, thanks for the congrats! The little Panasonic Quintrix is 10" portable (has a built-in handle on the back) but I don't know the model offhand... it is a GREAT TV for a retro computer monitor though and the price was right (free). It is currently in the video game cabinet. Because I am on paternity leave (yay!) I'll have time to snap some before and afters. The receiver in the closet is a homebuilt Heathkit AR-15 that was assembled by an engineer, apparently. I bought it at a thrift store that was going out of business and the woman running it said it had been in their office since the store opened in the 70s. It was $10 and from what I recall she threw in some old joysticks or something as well. The turntable is a Dual 1225 on a United Audio plinth. A great turntable that I had lovingly restored but was sold on craigslist last month. It is one of many Dual machines I have tinkered with over the years--they are beautiful record players in general but really finicky. Because I don't have the time to tinker with these anymore I am probably going to buy something new when I scrape up the cash. I did keep the receiver; I consider it part of my video game collection! I will now have to limit my collection spending, but I do plan on playing the heck out of what I have and firing up some 2-player games on a few years or so! I really do appreciate the nice wishes and my wife does too. She makes fun of my "little online friends" sometimes but all the best wishes from a variety of hobby boards have validated my online forays a bit. There are certainly worse hobbies to have, though that can be hard to express when trying to sort through tons of vintage gaming and audio equipment!
  20. Wow, that is a real low. Very competitive here in the Bay Area, but there's always a lot of stuff to go around, too!
  21. The final piece of the nursery has arrived. This is Alice:
  22. This is a good point as well. It's not hacking--it's selecting files and clicking OK a bunch of times. It is totally idiotproof and you can trust me on that one, as I am an idiot when it comes to this kind of thing! I used the Indiana Jones pwnz "hack" and while the name might make you feel l33t, the actual process is something a third-grader could pull off. Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you brick your Wii. (They all say this but man, I don't know what you would have to do to mess it up.)
  23. It's great on the 5200, agreed. The fact that you can speed up and slow down at EXACTLY the rate you want (IF you have working controllers) is key. It's by far my favorite home version. Also in agreement on the original Gameboy version. I keep a GB Color stashed in a drawer at work and the three carts with it are Qix, Tetris, and Golf.
  24. That's pretty cool. Does it need to be disassembled, etc. or can a newb like me find it somehow? ↑↑↓↓←→←→BA ?
