  1. Wow, from 2003 even... that's some good research. I've always shipped by Media Mail and never had any trouble with it--it seems odd that they would single out this one form of media. Because say what you will, a cart is a form of media, the dame as a diskette, tape, or CD.

So I just call them tapes.

    The answer is no.

I know that a lot of people think that cartridges can be sent media mail but they can't. Here is a link from the post office that specifically states that cartridges cannot be sent media mail.

    http://www.usps.com/cpim/ftp/bulletin/2003/pb22115.pdf

On page 107 under where it says "What is Media Mail Services" it says the following

"video game cartridges, for example, cannot be mailed at Media Mail rates."

  2. Yes, absolutely. I alwawys make sure to list them as "Atari Tapes". Heh Heh.

Here is the media mail description from the postal web site. Seems like to me that game carts would qualify.

Used for books, film, manuscripts, printed music, printed test materials, sound recordings, play scripts, printed educational charts, loose-leaf pages and binders consisting of medical information, videotapes, and computer-recorded media such as CD-ROMs and diskettes. Media Mail cannot contain advertising.

  3. Gotta tell you, I now have every US released game for the 5200 and a slew of homebrews and conversions. Once you start, it is hard to stop! It's just such a great system.

Takes up a lot of space, though!

Phaxda its weird but cool am reliving what you went throught 10yrs.ago now and with talk of the same games.i wish i got back into the Atari 10yrs.ago i would have a great collection of games if i did oh well better late than never.

  4. I'll sell you a bunch of black ones for a buck, but otherwise they are going to Al for 50 cents in store credit.

They need some labels taken off and chips removed, but other than that, they are ready to go! :D

How bout the black ones? They're giving them away. Are those any cheaper?

  5. I have a box with about 20+ 2600 controllers in it. It all started when a friend came over to play one day (maybe 3-4 years ago) and all I had were the stock 2600 joysticks. I pride myself on pretty much having any Atari game that anyone will want to play, so he was happy I had Venture...but then trouble started when he found out that I didn't have a Pointmaster stick. "Dude," he says "there is no way I can play with those crap sticks."

Ever since that day, I've made sure to hold on to at least one of any popular stick that comes my way. The only major one I'm missing is a Tron model, and I'm not shelling out the bucks for one of those.

The irony is that I use nothing but the stock 2600 and 7800 sticks.

The only thing I'm guilty of is having far more controllers than is healthy. I think the fewest I have for a given system is five for the NES, and most of those are for eventual projects.

  6. Ha, I just posted in another thread about how I have a bunch of 5200s. No working sticks though :(

Wyhat really makes these though is the shipping. I'm thinking of just parting them out on eBay (sometimes a power supply and switchbox goes for as much as a console), but let me know if you're interested in one.

i just got my 7800 today

i'm sorry to hear that.....but to the point... :)

i bought mine off Ebay with a bunch of games for less than $20. I found one in the wild and the guy wanted over $100. I think your best bet would be Ebay, but thats just me. Overall, depending on what is offered, for a 5200 in good shape with at least 1 working controller, i would not pay over $30 for it.

  7. I just use a blinds/heavy curtains combo over the window that's nearest to my TV and consoles. The curtains are thick and green and completely ugly, according to my girlfriend. But it keeps the light out of my gaming cave and my NES still looks fresh.

You'll probably be OK keeping the blinds closed. I know you can buy UV blocking films to put over windows, but you could probably get a new Dreamcast for less than the cost of UV coating your window.

  8. I'd be interested, but I'll only pay as much as you paid CPU for it.

Well CPU.. I stopped the auction..however I will sell the game..to anyone who wants it.. I will leave it for sale for a couple of days here on AA.

I didn't list it to piss you off...I did it for reasons..that affect me..not you.

If no one wants it..then I will decide what I will do with it..

So with that..if anyone would like to have this double ender that I acquired from CPU..let me know..

    Don

  9. Just to clarify a point raised via PM--I didn't actually send my Nigerian scam letter.

Even I am not dumb enough to jeopardize my eBay status with joke fraud!

    It was just a thought...

I don't know about anyone else, but I've never heard of a "John Skieletic". Google doesn't seem to know him either. "Lil Betty's" (or a billion different variations thereof) also comes up with nothing.

This is better than the $500 Colecovision that only "a true collector" could appreciate! :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

  11. I had this happen with a guy who lived on my street, a very short dead-end with about 12 houses on it. He bought some 5200 stuff from me on eBay and actually sent PayPal for the shipping and everything. I was already writing my very own street name on the box, when I realized...so I went across the street, knocked on his door, and gave him the box of stuff and a cash refund for the shipping. We also had a couple of beers and played some Robotron--and then I got my shipping money plus about 20 bucks back when he came over and took a look at some of the stuff stashed in my basement. Really nice guy, got married and moved to the 'burbs awhile ago. I should give him a call.

  12. I am just awful at this game and it makes me feel totally stupid--I've never bene very good at spacial-relations type stuff. "As if he were tumbling" means nothing to me--I just can't see how it works. Can anyone else describe their a-ha moment for this game, where you just figure it out... it's just not happening for me and I am swearing a lot. But I will keep trying.
