  1. That's a great find! How much did you pay? I'd just put it on eBay, as it could fetch some serious cash. Especially boxed--I saw one of these go for over $200 not so long ago. Way too rich for my blood, but it is a very cool product. Congrats!
  2. The Cuttle Cart 2 is incredible. I think CC3 is for Intellivision? I keep meaning to pick up the AtariMax 5200 flash cart, but also keep running out of money.
  3. Here are a few of my 5200 cart purchases from 1996-97 auctions (Ron's ER and some other one): Astro Chase ® $8.50 (SOLD!) pdangler Super Cobra (U) $6.00 (SOLD!) pdangler Pitfall II ® (two scratches on label) $8.00 (SOLD!) pdangler Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom - glossy label ..................$7 pdangler -- SOLD !!! -- ...I think I usually paid too much back then, but I didn't have any games! I too have many happy memories of getting carts in the mail from nice people. Not-so-nice memories of waiting in line at the PO for money orders... The place I was working it thought I was dealing drugs or something because I would get these weird small packages from all over the place--my mail service at the time (Roxbury, MA) was atrocious and anything left on the porch would be stolen, so I had to use my work address.
  4. I always put Adventures of Tron in this category--it's one of my favorites now.
  5. One thing I would like--but can't really justify the cost of--is a Starcon controller for my 5200 collection. Over $200 for a controller is kinda steep. Wish I'd bought one when Fred had them for sale so long ago, but I though the original price (I think it was $80!) was kinda steep too! I'll just have to live without.
  6. Somewhat ninja-related humor: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/2006/7/24feezell.html
  7. Don't be sorry--I missed this thread the first time around and had a great time reading it!
  8. Camera troubles, anyone want to auction a cart for me so I can get a better one?
  9. I bought a new TV just about a year ago to replace my 25" coax-only TV that I bought from some guy on craigslist for $50. I went in ready to spend some cash, but I wasn't at all impressed by the HD stuff, HD cable is more expensive, there were no HD players, and I don't watch that many DVDs anyway, etc. I bought a flatscreen tube for under $300 and was happy with it. I'm still happy with it. The picture is nice and clear. So put me in the camp that doesn't care about HD...for now, anyway. Also, it's worth noting that we're on a site where the masses are still playing pixelated games from 1980. Just sayin'.
  10. These are great ideas, but I'm guessing that implementation might be tricky. Still, worth submitting to the web site comments section here? I would love to see something like this added to the AA database. I know that the eBay Developer Tools are extensive and gathering price data is fairly trivial, so this might be worth looking into for someone experienced with the eBay SDKs. Using paper and PDF for this project is like heading into Beirut with a musket.
  11. I wanted the original b&w Gameboy so that I could play Tetris on it, anytime, anywhere. And I did! I wanted a Playstation for Gran Turismo, but never got one (played with the neighbors instead). I did get a PS2 eventually, to play GT4 on. I got a Dreamcast to play emulators on.
  12. This thread might help: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...c=87052&hl= I missed it too; had to go looking!
  13. I don't think this is the same Atari, but it's a story with a happy ending for a lucky person (not me): http://thisisframingham.com/?p=30 Looks like a pretty nice score. What makes you think someone got it instead of the trash truck? The word "gone" seems pretty ambiguous.........
  14. Not a huge fan of this one. Lots of mashing that button.
  15. I've been trying to get rid of mine for years. No one wants it. The sad thing is that when I bought it in 1996, I had never seen one before and I paid $20 at a thrift. Even with all the games, that was a poor decision on my part!
  16. I have a nice shiny loose one available, if anyone is looking. $10 + shipping and it's yours. They are great sticks--I got three of them in a huge lot recently.
  17. just when i am getting better! 75,000
  18. 68,000! I even got my girlfriend to play a game. I am driving backward, but on the later levels the enemy tanks appear so close!
  19. This is SOOOO true. I remember finally calling Atari directly, and they sent me the little mail order catalog so that i could finally get my greedy little hands on BallBlazer and Rescue on Fractalas, which I think had been pulled from stores or something by the time I wrote. It got so bad with them not releasing 5200 games that we eventually bought the 2600 adapter just so we would have something NEW to play. But I really knew things had gone bad when I bought Tax Avoiders for 99 cents at Kay-Bee. Never thought of it as a crash, but this was an obvious sign that something was WRONG.
  20. This is a pretty awesome find. Those hippos tend to break very easily, given all the stress they are put through to get their marble meals! I'd totally love to have a nice minty one, but I think I'd probably just play it because I love the game so much, Sheer genius. Edit: I had no idea they were still making NEW copies of this game! I guess I just have that classic gamer mindset that these games are all old and hard to find. I might pick myself up one of the rereleases. Still a nice find, though!
  21. 63,000. I have no idea how you guy are in the 100k + range!
  22. It really depends on your personal taste--there are SO MANY NES games to choose from in so many categories. Here are the games I have and like, in rough order of how great they are: Tetris Ice Hockey Double Dribble R.C. Pro-Am Faxanadu Rad Racer Golf Zeldas Wizards and Warriors I & II Castlevania RBI Baseball Kirby I have some others, but these are the ones I play most. Mostly because they are the ones I played as a kid. Lately I am playing TONS of R.C. Pro-Am. I love this game!
  23. This game is kinda fun, so i played a couple of rounds in between watching the world cup. 58,000. I think that's about the best I will do!
