I actually wrote this seller to ask what kind of camera he/she is using. Check out the Atari 2600 Jr. shot. I looked at their feedback and, sure enough, some past items were photography equipment. Makes sense, I guess!

Just thought i'd share. I am definitely buying a camera--that picture made ME want to buy it and I already have like 4 of them!

I don't do this very often, and I know it annoys some people, but I'm trying to cook up a reasonable price for on a few rare-ish? 2600 carts. I'm looking at selling this lot here or putting up a BIN on eBay. Make an offer if you're interested, or what you think a reasonable BIN is. Or ignore if this type of thing annoys you. I promise, I will never send eBay bidders here!
Beamrider
Double Dragon
Rampage
Pitfall II
Defender II
Challenge of Nexar
My general opinion is that the Digital Press prices on these are a bit high, but I'd be happy if proven wrong. I'll probaby be selling more in the coming weeks, but this is a start.

I think about this a lot, because I've recently expanded my collection considerably. Before this year, I had collected primarily for the 5200, which has immense nostalgic value to me. However, my ever-growing 2600 collection is a bit alarming...starting with the physical space it consumes. Yikes! My purchase of a Cuttle Cart 2 has also lead me to the realization that I am really a "collector" now--I rarely play the actual cartridges that I buy from eBay.
And eBay leads me to my other point--that site has pretty much ensured that 2600 collecting is going to be around for quite awhile. There's an obvious market for 2600-related goods, and as long as that market exists, "doom" is in the distant future. I still worry about it though.
Recent events in my life have also caused me to reflect on what it would be like to introduce my own child to the wonder of Atari and I'm hoping that someday I will have the opportunity to do so--it's always great to hear about people's young ones playing the games of a generation ago. I think that process also helps stave off the doom.
I was recently reading a web page put together by someone who restores classic TVs, and it was inspiring to see what many people considered "obsolete trash" turned into actual working showpieces. Even when you can get a flat color LCD cheap, those oldies in round cases, showing only black-and-white, are still very cool, special, and unique. Hopefully, when the day of PlayStation X dawns, the Atari 2600 will also be seen as an incredibly unique item of an era past.
man, this is a disjointed, rambling post. My apologies.
And, if dumb kids keep smashing 2600s up for no reason, they may just become pretty rare someday. Who knows?
Finally, it's ALWAYS great to play some Warlords!

I believe I paid nearly as much for my adapter as a full 2600 would have cost, back in the day. I'm not sure, but I remember that buying a 2600 instead was a definite consideration.
I remember, however, that an "adapter" was a much easier sell than "another system" to my parents, even though I was paying for it myself. They always thought I spent my money on somewhat frivolous things.
Now, of course, I have the adapter and about 3 2600s and the 7800. This is what happens when you are denied certain things for so long...

I've used to do this too, and last year I found out I wasn't the only one...
My brother was so good at Super Breakout that he would eliminate the blocks row-by-row, in order. If he accidentally hit the wrong block, he would restart the game--and this was on a 5200 with a stock stick. I don't know how he did it, but it was pretty amazing too watch. So that's still playing the game as intended, I guess, but on a whole different level.
I also used to intentionally kill all the humanoids in Defender to see how long I could last in the mutant levels.Given time, I'm sure I could remember tons of others.
-
I'm actually rather fond of the 7800 stick. I grew up using 5200 sticks, and think that they have perhaps trained me to handle the ergonomics. I really don't have any trouble with them at all--since I bought my Cuttle Cart 2, I've been using the 7800 stick for everything. And loving it.

Ugh, I am horrible at this game. 28,200. I should be able to do better than this eventually.
finally a cart I have I'll give it a try. -
Seaquest did finally crack the "Top 20" in the thread on here about best games. In part because it's my all-time favorite, so I put it at #1.
I think it's safe to say there are no "great" undersea games since none of these mentioned appear on many top ten lists. Dolphin was groundbreaking in its time because you had to play using sounds instead of visual -- perhaps the only one? I didn't much like it as a game, but I appreciated the uniqueness of it.~G

Darn, I thought it would probably go higher--should have tossed a bid at that. Oh well.
Wow - It wasn't like that this morning when I saw it...Still... $36 + shipping isn't that bad for 2 consoles and 50 games. I wonder if whoever won it is a member here...
-
Good luck! I always like buying big old lots and seeing what's in them. Sometimes I get a bit singed, but at .50 apiece you really can't go wrong! There were some pretty good deals on stuff like this following the ten cent listing day. I pulled the trigger on a couple of BINs and now am awaiting some 200 games...just because there were a few nice games in there that made it all worth it.
Definitely more fun than just buying them one by one, and sometimes I come out OK on the resale even though I am not an evil reseller. Really!
Took a chance, but for $26.00 ($0.52 a game) I figured it was worth the risk.Wife confirmed I got the package today and it does have at least 50 games in the box.
I love boxes like this. Sure, there is a 99% chance I have all these titles (in which case they are trade bait) but
the excitement of a possible rarity in there makes it all worth it.
I will post what I get later tonight.

(I hope the bottle cap comes with it.)

Also looks like newbie bidding war--I think I'll stay outta that one...

It's a tough life, but someone has to make sure those strippers aren't slacking...& all that booze ain't gonna drink itself!
Now to make that Dr. appointment...
I'd just like to point out, that this kind of agrees with my original assessment of a lot of the Atari Collectors... not necessarily wealthy, but *single*. Christian, too... so you're probably not spending money on the things MOST single men do... booze, parties, strip-clubs... penicilin shots... -
...and that buyer is now NARU. Weird, hope it wasn't because they thought this was some sort of pirate cart? eBay makes absolutely no sense sometimes.

I am looking for a 7800 joypad for a reasonable price...let me know if you have one?
I am open to trades as well...I have loads of 2600 carts at the moment and am ready to deal.

Sign me up for Wii Golf and Tennis. Seriously. I am looking forward to the "Country Club in my Living Room" experience.
I'd rather "just play tennis" too, but today it's raining out and indoor courts are expensive. Golf is expensive. Swinging that controller around might be just the thing!

Really liked this a lot!
I hadn't heard of Breakpoint (I'm just not that cool
), so here's a link for others who may be interested: http://breakpoint.untergrund.net/
There's a lot of cool stuff there!

Seaquest wins this battle by a mile...
I'd go with Dolphin after that, followed closely by Go Fish. I think the underwater games are some of the best 2600 games out there.
And, of course, I like the Submarine Commander art. The actual game, though...eh.
-
Ending in less than 24 hours. Still a few good deals, but mostly common stuff so I don't know if anyone here would be interested!
-
This story ha sa happy ending--I called the guy and he said he'd found someone willing to take them. It wasn't me, though!
-
I like Al too much to subject him to some of these carts!
That's a great shot of that Bowling cart. I'll post pics of my "reject collection" later.
Well, if you have beat up regular Atari games that are commons, don't forget you can send them to Albert for 50 cents credit so they can re-use them for homebrews.Phil

Get a Dreamcast and make yourself some emulation CDs? My Dreamcast plays SNES, NES, and every Atari. Not as good as the real thing (the DC controllers are not great for atari games, IMO--for NES they are awesome, though) but it's nice to have an classic alternative that isn't relegated to the game room. ("No old crap cluttering up the living room" by girlfriend request.)
As far as actual Dreamcast games are concerned, the graphics of the Sonic games really impressed me and Virtua Tennis is a blast. Unfortunately, no new Pokemon (that could be a deal-breaker, I imagine).
I made a blog post about this awhile back:

I don't have a Cube (no more Nintendo until the Wii comes out), so I really can't speak to that. Good luck with whatever you decide to get!
Either the Cube or DC would be great choices. The Cube actually has more sonic choices due to the Sonic compilations. The DC has a great homebrew and emulator scene. The Cube's library is quite a bit bigger, though.
