  1. oh, sweet irony. i had a media mail package containing 2600 carts returned today after inspection. totally sucks, but now i know better. sigh.
  2. I have a really nice set of these, boxed, like new, with instructions. They work all right, but I think the multiple cordless phones and wireless networks in my apartment building interfere with them. I had to pretty much sit right next to the TV/transmitter box. They look just like the ones in this eBay offering, except they are boxed. I'll get a pic up this evening. http://cgi.ebay.com/LIKE-NEW-GREAT-WORKING...emZ104750500508 $30 shipped. Batteries not included.
  3. Ballblazer is by far the best game out of these. Dig Dug is a close second for me; mostly for nostalgia. However, when Ballblazer came out, my brother and I would have epic battles. The Wico controllers are awesome for this game and allow maximum manueverability, and I think the scoring system is ingenious. The music just totally rocks. The game is fast-paced and it takes a lot of skill to really master it (in particular, thinking of the 3-pointer here)... I also like the storyline of a futuristic game...I have to admit that I actually wrote some Ballblazer "fanfic" when I was a kid. It just totally sucked me in. I agree that the game is not nearly as good on the 7800. The Playstation edition is also an insult to the original. When I first discovered emulation, it was because I wanted to play Ballblazer. In the days before PayPal and online registration, I actually sent an international check to England for the guy who wrote the Rainbow emulation program because I wanted it in full-screen. That's how much Ballblazer meant to me! Vote Ballblazer, my fellow Terrans! Also see: http://www.electriceggplant.com/ballblazer.html
  4. Wow, from 2003 even... that's some good research. I've always shipped by Media Mail and never had any trouble with it--it seems odd that they would single out this one form of media. Because say what you will, a cart is a form of media, the dame as a diskette, tape, or CD. So I just call them tapes.
  5. Yes, absolutely. I alwawys make sure to list them as "Atari Tapes". Heh Heh.
  6. I really like my Cuttle Cart 2 and I'm saving up for the USB cart for the 5200 myself. Really works well for those of us with space limitations! I'd highly recommend the CC2, though. It is well worth the cash.
  7. I'm planning on buying a full set of 100 boxes, but I won't have that many left over! I am curious about printing plans, though... not sure how I am going to do it (yet).
  8. Gotta tell you, I now have every US released game for the 5200 and a slew of homebrews and conversions. Once you start, it is hard to stop! It's just such a great system. Takes up a lot of space, though!
  9. This totally transported me back in time to when I first got back into the 5200, some 10 years ago! Check this post out on the r.g.v.c. newsgroup--mine is the first post about how much I loved Berzerk and Qix. How weird is that? Post from 1996 about Qix and Berzerk There are some neat tips in that thread, too. Thanks for some memories!
  10. well...i am not selling mine! i like the game--it's fun!
  11. I'll sell you a bunch of black ones for a buck, but otherwise they are going to Al for 50 cents in store credit. They need some labels taken off and chips removed, but other than that, they are ready to go!
  12. Just a quick bump, some of these are ending within the hour.
  13. I have a box with about 20+ 2600 controllers in it. It all started when a friend came over to play one day (maybe 3-4 years ago) and all I had were the stock 2600 joysticks. I pride myself on pretty much having any Atari game that anyone will want to play, so he was happy I had Venture...but then trouble started when he found out that I didn't have a Pointmaster stick. "Dude," he says "there is no way I can play with those crap sticks." Ever since that day, I've made sure to hold on to at least one of any popular stick that comes my way. The only major one I'm missing is a Tron model, and I'm not shelling out the bucks for one of those. The irony is that I use nothing but the stock 2600 and 7800 sticks.
  14. Ha, I just posted in another thread about how I have a bunch of 5200s. No working sticks though Wyhat really makes these though is the shipping. I'm thinking of just parting them out on eBay (sometimes a power supply and switchbox goes for as much as a console), but let me know if you're interested in one. i'm sorry to hear that.....but to the point... i bought mine off Ebay with a bunch of games for less than $20. I found one in the wild and the guy wanted over $100. I think your best bet would be Ebay, but thats just me. Overall, depending on what is offered, for a 5200 in good shape with at least 1 working controller, i would not pay over $30 for it.
  15. I have: 5 5200s (need to sell a few of these!) 3 Intellivisions 3 2600s (2 to be sold soon) 1 7800 1 NES 1 Odyssey 2 S, yeah, the 5200s. They are such a pain to get rid of and they always come in waves--no one wants them locally and they are heavy to ship...agh.
  16. I just use a blinds/heavy curtains combo over the window that's nearest to my TV and consoles. The curtains are thick and green and completely ugly, according to my girlfriend. But it keeps the light out of my gaming cave and my NES still looks fresh.
  17. Kaboom! and the 1812 overture, of course!
  18. I'd be interested, but I'll only pay as much as you paid CPU for it.
  19. Just to clarify a point raised via PM--I didn't actually send my Nigerian scam letter. Even I am not dumb enough to jeopardize my eBay status with joke fraud! It was just a thought...
  20. Just got a PM on this and thought I would post here that I've sold the carts on eBay. For the curious, they fetched more than I thoguht they would: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8281188521

    Small world

I had this happen with a guy who lived on my street, a very short dead-end with about 12 houses on it. He bought some 5200 stuff from me on eBay and actually sent PayPal for the shipping and everything. I was already writing my very own street name on the box, when I realized...so I went across the street, knocked on his door, and gave him the box of stuff and a cash refund for the shipping. We also had a couple of beers and played some Robotron--and then I got my shipping money plus about 20 bucks back when he came over and took a look at some of the stuff stashed in my basement. Really nice guy, got married and moved to the 'burbs awhile ago. I should give him a call.
  22. yeah, whackjob is the right word here...i'll cancel any of his bids for sure. sheesh... thanks for the link!
  23. What am I missing here?! Craziness! I have a pair of these, but they are in use...I'd still sell'em for this price, though! --pdangler-half
