  1. This story ha sa happy ending--I called the guy and he said he'd found someone willing to take them. It wasn't me, though!
  2. I like Al too much to subject him to some of these carts! That's a great shot of that Bowling cart. I'll post pics of my "reject collection" later.
  3. Get a Dreamcast and make yourself some emulation CDs? My Dreamcast plays SNES, NES, and every Atari. Not as good as the real thing (the DC controllers are not great for atari games, IMO--for NES they are awesome, though) but it's nice to have an classic alternative that isn't relegated to the game room. ("No old crap cluttering up the living room" by girlfriend request.) As far as actual Dreamcast games are concerned, the graphics of the Sonic games really impressed me and Virtua Tennis is a blast. Unfortunately, no new Pokemon (that could be a deal-breaker, I imagine). I made a blog post about this awhile back: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...log&blogid=104& I don't have a Cube (no more Nintendo until the Wii comes out), so I really can't speak to that. Good luck with whatever you decide to get!
  4. You can add me to the glue stick camp. I use it on all my Parker Brothers carts and I have seen no issues. Makes'm look nice for eBaying, that's for sure.
  5. Sorry, it's just the cart. Enjoy your system, though!
  6. Need an "American Football" cartridge for that fine system? I have one here, selling for cheep!
  7. I think the Wii is going to be awesome and I can't wait for it to come out. I could care less about what they call it.
  8. I have tons of emulation stuff on my Dreamcast, but I always come back to the real thing. Actually, I guess it IS emulation now that I am playing on a 7800 with a CC2... but I play my 5200 all the time as well. I like the joysticks. Having the DC is a nice backup though--that's hooked up to my nice modern tv and it's nice and flicker free and visitors always love to play it.
  9. Wow, I have both Diner and Thin Ice. Nice to know my modest collection has some good stuff in it! (Edit: mine are loose; I see now that the linked ones are boxed) Never played Beauty and the Beast, I'll check it out. Shark! Shark! IS a great game though (and I love Go Fish, too). For some reason, I really like Skiing on the INTV as well. Call it heresy, but I like 5200 Beef Drop--it meets all my meat 'n' patty gaming needs. What about Shark! Shark!? Or Demon Attack? Or Beauty and the Beast? Or *gasp* BurgerTime? You don't know what you're missing if you're not playing these games! Thin Ice was released by INTV Corporation, the company that was formed out of the Mattel Intellivision ashes. Pretty much anything released by them seems to be pretty rare. Supposedly, two of the best games for the Intellivision (Thin Ice and Diner) were released after Mattel sold the business to INTV corp. I haven't yet gotten around to saving up for these two gems, but if anyone is interested and has the money, they can be found here and here. Given the cost however ($104 for Diner!?!?!), you may want to troll EBay instead.
  10. I'm a huge fan of Intellivision Baseball. I love that you have to be quick on the keyboard to field--it's really a skill you can develop (and lose) over time. That and Bump 'n' Jump are all I play on the system. Dusk, I noticed you asking about Thin Ice in another thread--is this a difficult game to find? I have a copy and it's a pretty fun little game.
  11. I totally mauled the chip getting it out of the Ballblazer cart (soldering is not my strong suit). It worked in the CC2 and then stopped working, so I need another one for my CC2. The poor Ballblazer cart is sitting in my reject bin and I do not intend to attempt a rescue via another POKEY transplant. Just to clarify. Here's the Best info/number: CO12294 / 137430 (POKEY) $5.00
  12. I sent Best an email and they didn't say there was a minumum, but I could order more than one while I am at it. I desoldered one from a Ballblazer cart, but did a terrible job of it & have decided to get a fresh one instead. Anyone else need one? Best Electronics sells them for $5 but I believe they have a $20 minimum order requirement. Beef Drop is a homebrew that hasn't been put on cart yet. Balblazer does indeed have a POKEY in it, though you will need to unsolder it (40 pin chip). Mitch
  13. Man, I am soooo glad I gave up on collecting boxed games! Is there a story behind how this gold mine was discovered? Those are all some really, really nice boxes...
  14. I buy in lots off of eBay usually, and I've accumulated quite a stack of carts that have a variety of damage. One is actually BURNT, which is about the worst I've ever seen. It makes me more sad than mad, but what can you do? Someone awhile back had an auction featuring "carts that you wouldn't want to bring home to mom," which I thought was pretty funny.
  15. I'm having some trouble with the POKEY I took out of a Ballblazer cart & can't play the Blaze without the music! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had anyone had a POKEY that they wanted to get rid of, before I order one from Best. I think I messed up the chip a little bit when I removed it...
  16. I grew up with the 5200 version, which I thought was AMAZING. But the person who really got addicted was my dad! They had an arcade Dig Dug in a bar he used to go to, and I'll never forget how shocked he was by how good the game looked on our new TV--just like the real deal. He got extremely good at blowing up Fygars & I remember him commenting that when he turned off the game, Johnny Carson was on NBC, good ol' Channel 3--it was that late at night!
  17. I still have my 5200 collection from childhood, now expanded significantly. The only thing that bothers me is that the 4-port console we sent off to Atari for modification with the VCS adapter (still have my original one that I paid A LOT for) is now dead. I'm holding on to it anyway, though! There's a box in my parent's house somewhere with 2600 games in it. I've searched and searched, but it hasn't turned up. I believe there are a few rarities in it--I went on quite a spending spree with the late '80s releases at Kay-Bee. I know Tax Avoiders is in there... Every time I play Moon Patrol, it's with the same cartridge I used when I was 13, home sick, and spending my day beating that infernal game--cruddy joysticks and all.
  18. I would have given you the same offer; my initial thought was actually about $10 shipping, though, for a $46 total. Good luck.
  19. This could be difficult! I would play most of these 5200 games on any platform, but I list them as 5200 because that's what I started with... Arcade/5200: Dig Dug Ballblazer Pac-Man Pole Position Moon Patrol Berzerk Robotron 2084 Intelly: Bump 'n' Jump Baseball NES: Ice Hockey Double Dribble RC Pro Am Wizards and Warriors Tetris RBI Baseball Castlevania Gameboy: Golf Tetris Computer: Sim City Command & Conquer Links Golf (can I just pick the whole franchise?) Sega: Any NHL hockey year. Let's say '94. Playstation 1/2: Gran Turismo 1/2/3/4 NHL 2k5 EA NHL 2001 Katamari Damacy We Love Katamari Atari 2600: Seaquest Fall Down Adventures of Tron Yars' Revenge Warlords Vectrex: Minestorm Random: Bejeweled in its many forms Minesweeper That's all I've got right now. I am such a jock--I have always liked the sports games, though.
  20. Now THAT is a good idea. I am already set up to dual-boot, from when I was messing around with Linux dists and I could easily run WINE. I don't know why I didn't think of this before! For me, half the fun of HAVING a computer is to mess around with it and install all kinds of weird stuff. For the CC2, I just wound up using the Java Menu Generator, which is great. All that said, I still like it best when people are able to support the Mac with native apps. So I thank Classics in advance.
  21. I love all golf games, beginning with the original Game Boy golf. That's just a great platform for golf games--the Mario Golf series is great, too. I also like NES golf. For the modern stuff, I play it all on computer. I started with Links Pro waaay back in the day and then moved to Links LS and started playing online. Now I play Links CE and Tiger Woods 2005 online with a fun group of Mac golfers at the Links Golf Community. Great group and they run tournaments and ladders, etc. It's not quite as big as the PC guys, but I like our little community. I play "Powerstroke" in Links, which I think is the closest thing you can get to a real golf "feel" short of a simulator. I personally cannot WAIT to see what the Revolution might mean for computer/video game golf--if you can swing that controller like a club, etc. it could be extremely cool.
  22. This is great to hear. I am a Mac user and will be putting an order in soon! The CC2 really sold me on the whole multicart idea. I'm not getting rid of my complete 5200 collection, but the Multicarts make it so much easier to actually PLAY GAMES. Which, for me, it what it's all about. I just released the code for the ColecoVision cart that can be compiled on a Mac. The 5200 cart can re-use 95% of that code, so I'll be releasing that soon as well. Steve
  23. Another member has bought Xevious, Barnyard Blaster, Meltdown, and Ballblazer for a reasonable price--I'm just going to throw the rest on eBay. How about $30 and I pay the shipping?
  24. I guess that's about as much as I could hope for...I was kinda thinking more along the lines of $3/per, but it is what it is. Maybe like $35? I really don't know... So sick of eBay and prices seem to be falling anyway. Drop me a PM. p How about $28 for the lot? That $2 per title.
  25. But with the Flash cart going at 133.99 shipped, it's maybe worth spending the extra $14? Glad to see the sale price extended! Just need to get my tax refund... Unless you're considering the now-defunct menu-driven 128-in-1 as a collector's item of sorts, I would be more likely to go for the Flash.
