Today I unboxed the VCS I've had on the shelf unopened for years, tried to purchase A.R.T.I., and got screwed by the infamous zip code error.

Our security cam just captured footage of a man wearing a Hello Kitty T-shirt looking around and then taking all of the candy from the bowl my son left out for Trick-or-Treaters and dashing off. Luckily my son listened to me and kept some candy in reserve so we could refill the bowl. All the kids were nice and took only 1 or 2 pieces.

Remember when people used to hand out candy instead of putting it out there in a lonely bowl? Thanks to people wanting to avoid human interaction these days, I'm selling the CandyMaster 5000. It's a lifelike robot that stands behind the bowl and generally acts like a kind old lady, but it decapitates anyone taking more than one piece of candy.
-
@Random Terrain We had the occasional lazy house with the bowl even 40 years ago. And the debate if we should just take all the candy or not. (I never did!)
So I wouldn't make it a statement about the decline of society.

I'll be honest, I found the news a little depressing. At least I broke the bank with my "last chance" orders.

There is a big difference between hobby community and official corporate site, is my thoughts on it.
I believe things will go more or less "business as usual". Of course before we were a bunch of hobbyists and developers, and no matter what "Atari" did, no matter how good, or stupid, this place was not related to those "Atari's".
But now, after all the Atari's we've seen, this place has sold this place lock stock an barrel to the current "Atari".
So whatever decisions Atari makes now directly effects this place. And when that Atari goes down, this place will be passed on to the next Atari after that.
So... maybe not COMPLETELY business as usual.

Waiting for store update... refresh... refresh... refresh...

Lego Atari 2600 is complete. Looks pretty cool. A Lego piece identical to the one I was missing was on one of my son's Lego builds. I bought it off him for a dollar. All are happy. 😁

I normally don't make New Year's resolutions but I'll make an exception this year. My New Year's resolution is to try and finish assembling my LEGO Atari 2600 today. Wish me luck!

Well I guess it's time to take down the Easter tree. It's been up since before Christmas.

It's been a week and I still haven't heard back from Fedex after contacting them regarding a shipment from Taiwan that it seems like they lost. DHL on the other hand did an awesome job on a shipment from China.
-
It's been 2 weeks since the last FedEx update, and 3 days since they dispatched their special investigators, and I'm starting to think my DE10-nano has disappeared in shipment...
-
de10-nano shipped. Manufacturing of my 1st PCB complete and ready to be shipped. Not a bad start to the day.

Anyone have experience with NextPCB? I was going to use allpcb but it seems allpcb's website is busted as I can't create an account no matter which browser I try.

Ack! My Mouser order got mixed up adding a day's delay to the project... This after I spent all day on their website due to my OCD running up the tab: maybe I should add a few extra parts and quantities to the order... never can have enough electronic parts... Is there like an EA (electronics anonymous) meeting somewhere I should be attending?

Can someone point me to some awesome master KiCad library of symbols & footprints? The default included one seems to be missing lots of basic discrete ICs. I'm almost finished with my schematic so if I can avoid learning how to create custom footprints for s-video connectors and the like that would be awesome...
-
You don’t need to create footprints. KiCAD just has generic footprints for all components, so you can just assign whatever DIP footprint that matches your IC. Unless you’re like me and start messing with really uncommon types of connectors (DB19 was a pain in the ass) you shouldn’t run into any issues.

I just now accidentally broke off the 4 plastic tabs on the smoked plastic joystick storage lid on my 5200 console. ?

I've had an RTX 3080 Founder's Edition still in its spiffy black and gold factory sealed box sitting next to my computer uninstalled for over a week now. Does that make me a bad person?

Of course not Albert and I understand what you are saying. I just meant I almost feel guilty having my 3080 sit here not yet used when I see youtube vids of people lining up at stores to get one. And I would never try and take advantage of someone by scalping. I do like the look of the box though. I like it more than the 1080ti box.

I'm already in total holiday mode. I don't even want to go into work tomorrow.
