I really liked the Bittboy, although my review unit had some dead pixels.
After viewing your review and many others.. I would be perfectly fine with some dead pixels. Nothing is ever perfect especially an Asian NOAC knock off like the Bittboy. But at $25.99 and free shipping it sounds like an awsome purchase for the price. I spent enough money on 2DS XL and 3DS games this year so Nintendo is not hurting.
Please don't take this the wrong way but I'm surprised you were comfortable publicly reviewing a blatantly pirated device.

The core products will still be Atari 2600- and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive-driven. There will be some new form factors, as well as potentially some new platforms/product types explored on both the hardware and software sides. The latter depends on a few pending factors for it to make it out this year, but either way, it will still be a pretty impressive line-up of products in terms of number of different options. There's one product in particular I'm keeping an eye on that I'm very excited about, but it almost certainly won't be announced as part of the main group of products.
Instead of me further vague-posting, I'll stay out of dropping any further hints. Again, I can tell you that unfortunately there are no Intellivision or ColecoVision products planned for this year. There will be quite a few hardware and software products to discuss as the year progresses (almost all products are targeted to Q4 of this year), although not everything may be announced at the same time.
Much thanks for the details as you definitely don't need to jeopardize your standing at AtGames. I was hoping for a NeoGeo or Commodore ... oh well. I like to buy AtGames products as they appear to license their products the right way and cater to the cheap US market (which I'm their target market). I even bought a bunch more AFP 2017 on clearence ($25 at Samsclub) to give out as gifts to old time Atari playing non-techie friends of mine.
I hate to admit it I broke down and bought the Bittboy last night .. only $25.99 and free shipping. I feel justified in buying the Bitboy since I can't find SNES/NES classics at local retail nor on-line (under a hundred dollars). I do feel bad supporting blatant piracy, but I blame Nintendo for scarcity of the NES/SNES Classics.

Actually, you can pretty much re-task any old netbook into booting Freedos, which will run 95% of the stuff you want to run, assuming you can find one with a compatible sound card. I just use PC speaker, as that's kind of the genuine experience for a lot of the games. No windows to muck with, and it boots in 5 seconds.
Good point FreeDOS is pretty much polished. It runs about anything DOS other than a few oddball apps like DESQView. I would think all retro DOS games would work fine.

Ever since a bad battery blew up (as in, like a balloon) my GPD XD, I'm not screwing around with homemade batteries.
If have homemade battery you need to watch them.. not leave them plugged in days etc....

No Intellivision or ColecoVision this year. In terms of other products, we can definitely discuss once the official announcements are made.
OK so I'm trying to piece together all your comments... so no Coleco, INV . Neo geo and Nintendo are also out. You mentioned Atari 8-bit is too small a market with very few unique games. Hmm I think only C64, Amiga, or arcade products are left as possibilities? Or do you just mean new form factors (mini arcades, table tops....) for the existing lines (Atari and Sega).

Could you please stop posting unrepresentative Atari Stock Charts.
Posting an Intraday Chart on a day where the whole global markets are going down is absolutely dumb.
In fact the Atari stock is one of the best Stock Developments for the past 3/4 year on the Stock Exchange.
Here are the Charts for the past 3 Months, the past 6 Months, the past year and the past 3 Years.
Its a plus of 213% in one year and 253% in 3 years.
By the way: I would not recommend you to go into a Thread battle considering financial markets with me. So please keep your answer to yourself.
Could you please stop polluting our forum with Atari SA propaganda! This forum is about the original Atari products.... not the name licensing / speakerhat embarrassment that bought and desecrated the Atari name and logo. Seriously I was looking forward to buying the Ataribox (for $50 on clearance 6 months after release) well until it became very clear it was just marketing and lies and no real product.
Atari SA stock is a f*cking PENNY stock! One will always find ridiculous volatility with worthless penny stocks.

I have had a couple of dos laptops from the 90's. You're going to be hard pressed to find one where the screen is any good. Also the battery won't hold a charge anymore, and you probably won't find any new old stock that still works so you'll have to make a pack. I've gone down that rabbit hole. I'd do emulation if I was you.
My Libretto battery "died" a while back. I had it "rebuilt" and that gave me another 3-4 years. I had it "rebuilt" again and only got about a year or so. I use AC power on it now as new "rebuilt" battery is very expensive.
Making a homemade battery pack is a necessity if want to retro laptop with mobility.

The HP Stream 11 is perfect for what you want. Run DOSbox on it and you can simulate any sound card you want, and install sound fonts too. It has plenty of power for ancient games, and storage is adequate with an SD card inserted.
That's what I do. The keyboard is surprisingly good for a cheap laptop, and the power consumption will be far better than any vintage machine. No fan, runs quiet.
You don't even have to pay much attention to the host OS if you aren't networking it.
Oh wow Walmart even has them for $199.

Get a Libretto! I dual boot an old Linux distro and MS DOS 5. It looks great running the original Tomb Raider for DOS.. without 3D accelerated graphics. Laura has really pointy boobs.
You likely don't need one with a faster CPU unless you want to run a modern linux. For old DOS games it's perfect. I really treasure my Libretto! The only accessories you may need are either a PCMCIA CD-DROM or PCMCIA Ethernet as it only has a winmodem built in.

Please wait for official announcements in regards to all the new features being added across the product line for 2018.
Is there an expected date for the official 2018 announcements ? Is it before the end of 1Q or during 2Q ?
-
I'm jealous. Anyway I should just be happy to finally have a working c64dtv. Now I just need another preferably v3 to mod with an SD Card.

My guess is the reason you never hear them talk about games or developers, is that they are planning to use existing content...That plus maybe Roller Coaster Tycoon and some Atari Flashback type titles...
Well that's a given and also HOW could one plan to line up developers without a HDK nor even a SDK ?

The neogeo.zip thing made me retry last year RetroBitGen with Neogeo games but it failed again (not sure it expect the BIOS somewhere else or just doesn't plain work) so last year revision (Retrobit Gen)plays most old mame with the exclusion of neogeo and roughly half the CPS2 library, this year revision (Super Retrocade) catches up on Neogeo and CPS2 but it needs more power to do so with reduced stutter/frameskip .... maybe next year if they decide to up their CPU ....
(this year it's basically a quad core ARM A7 32bits .... they need a better CPU maybe with less cores but higher Mhz)
A smooth Metal Slug /2 /X is required for for my next retro console. Back to an old laptop with MAME for my Metal Slug fix.

Use the one in the latest games.zip file at http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258970-atari-flashback-portable-faq-and-compatibility-list/
Actually the 8K Pacman version is much better as Pacman does not flicker.. ghost still do flicker just a bit. I only play the 8K Pacman version.

Microsoft no longer has a Windows division. They split it up. Windows is no longer a core product anymore.
Loony Linux, ha, that's a go nowhere OS. Barely made it on the now-dead desktop.
Wow you are just clueless. Have you been asleep in a cave for 10 years ?
Windows core is a major component in all Windows products. Just because there is no Windows departement doesn't not mean it not used in all the divisions. The Windows box OS is dead and only Windows server exists. Windows core service for desktop and server is very much alive and profitable.
Linux is in more devices that ANY operating system ever weather you realize it or not! Stop being so ignorant and research a bit before make such nonsense comments. Linux dominates the current "desktops". They are called cell phones and they're dominated by Android which is based on Linux.

It's an interesting thought, but obviously we'd have to have a new Intellivision Flashback first. I'm also not sure how much enthusiasm there would be from various parties. Atari 2600 and Genesis are no-brainers, but not necessarily Intellivision.
I honestly don't think the INV flashbacks would sell at the required numbers for a profitable product. The INV fans are an extremely passionate bunch. I will give them that, but their numbers are too small for the big numbers consumer type products.

So what you're saying is that you have plenty of time to start

He's still a puppy ... lots of time to start an INV hobby.

I am sorry to hear you're having such trouble! I once again saw some at my local Target this weekend, they get them every week (I grocery shop there and live down the street, so I'm there that often
). They actually had one after 6pm on Saturday night, tells you how easy to get they really are. Wonder why an Iowa Target would be getting more than an NYC Target? Or maybe your Target gets a few and sells them through quicker, hard to say. But I'd still focus on Target, I suspect you'll get one from them if you keep trying.Far more people walking around and I think Nintendo Classics are bought in high numbers by impulse buyers who see them and think wow that's cool.. I remember NES/SNES. Especially in NYC area most people are so used to overpaying for anything they like. The retro fans already paid $200+ to the scalpers and most cheap ass retro fans like me have already paid the $120+ online rate. Hehe I'm just one of the extremely cheap ones as I'm a NYC metro transplant. I grew up and went to college in rural Pennsylvania. A few decades ago I worked in Southern Minnesota which as you likely know is just like Iowa.

I completely disagree. I have been looking for one since January and have yet to see one at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Kmart or GameStop. I have been to each a few times since January and zip, nada, none. On-line it is listed as out of stock or selling for over $100 + shipping from third parties.

16M is sold out but the 32M is only $2.39 and Free Shipping. Also these look the same as my 16M SD Card. I also think it's cool to have a 16M or 32M SD Card that is actually very useful!

I can't believe no one recommended Aros ?
Live Desktop DVD at http://vmwaros.blogspot.co.uk/p/download.html
Application archive at http://archives.aros-exec.org/
I run Icaros Desktop in a VM built from the Live Desktop DVD.iso. It works great. It comes with lots of native apps including a fully functional WinUAE for 68k Amiga based programs.

New Atari Console that Ataribox?
in Atari 2600

Sony has a proven record of delivering quality products that bring in multi billions of dollars. Atari SA just has the speakerhat, t-shirts and promises. Atari can't even afford to hire a single hardware engineer!
The "Just Stupid" part I agree with you. Well said. Atari SA is "Just Stupid" and I'll add "..because they really want this to happen"... but it never does.
In full disclosure I actually have an Atari t-shirt. My wife bought for it for me a few years ago after I took her old Atari 2600 out of the mother-in-law's attic and got the 2600 working.
