  1. Continuing with the EEPROM topic, does anyone know if Boxxle cartridge comes with prewritten EEPROM? I have got 24c256 emulated, but Boxxle appears to read uninitialized game level data from it and display that level to the user.
  2. Well, since the license applied to the Windows/DOS versions (currently free), it is not clear what product it should transfer to. Having said that, I don't mind giving out promo codes for free iNES-Android copies, as a thank-you gift for sticking with iNES for all these years. This is a manual process though (you send email, I respond with copy-pasted promo code, etc), so it isn't easily scalable to a lot of people
  3. Well, the bootable memory stick sounds like a wonderful idea, except that a lot of modern video hardware won't run well with MSDOS, and I am not at all sure what happens to USB gamepads in DOS =)
  4. I've just published iNES 5.2 for Android, a new version of my NES and Famicom emulator: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.ines This version contains a bunch of improvements for AndroidTV users, as well as anyone with multiple input devices. The app will make sure that the gamepad (rather than keyboard or some other input device) always gets assigned to the first player. Furthermore, both players can open menu and exit emulation now. See below for all the changes. ALL CHANGES: * Made sure first player always gets stock gamepad on Nvidia ShieldTV. * Either player can open menu or exit emulation now. * Fixed Settings background on AndroidTV. * Disabled DropBox on AndroidTV for now, since there is no browser. Enjoy!
  5. Hello, All! Going to use this thread for news, support, and feature requests for iNES, my NES and Famicom emulator. The free Windows and Linux versions of iNES can be found here: http://fms.komkon.org/iNES/ The Android version is available from the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.ines If you have any questions about NES hardware or the .NES file format, general information can be found here: http://fms.komkon.org/EMUL8/NES.html If you have not used iNES in the past, do give it a try. If you are an iNES user and have questions or suggestions, please, post them to this thread. Marat
  6. I am afraid you may belong to a really small handful of people, since I can't even properly run DOS apps since Win7. That (and the lack of time) is the main reason I no longer support DOS ports of my emulators. The ColEm source code is publicly available though, so it shouldn't be very difficult to compile it for DOS. PS: Added 24c08 EEPROM emulation to ColEm, Black Onyx saves now. Will release once I tidy it up and add bigger EEPROM option for Boxxle.
  7. ColEm Deluxe for Android is currently on $1.99 sale: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.colem.deluxe The deluxe version lets you make multiple game saves, adds debugger and the advance settings menu, among other things. If you liked the free version but thought that the full version price was too much, now is your chance.
  8. Aha, looks good, thanks. My own research shows that the actual Boxxle and Black Onyx carts appear to use 0xFF80 / 0xFF90 / 0xFFA0 / 0xFFB0 hotspots for EEPROM access though. Will check for ones at 0x6xxx as well.
  9. ColEm does not emulate hacks that make SN76489 act as a makeshift waveform generator. I have this feature in plans, but at low priority.
  10. Hello, All! Could someone please explain how the EEPROM chip in Boxxle cartridges is connected? And what EEPROM is it, anyway?
  11. All right, let me rephrase the question: Who made this game and does that guy have an email address?
  12. Well, since EEPROM clearly isn't part of the standard ColecoVision hardware, or cartridges, it is no wonder. I will try adding it. If you want to help, finding how that EEPROM is connected would be a great step forward. Got any documentation on it?
  13. Cancel that, found them online, fixed ColEm to load them properly. These games will work in the next ColEm release.
  14. Provide the ROMs, I will take a look.
  15. Well, ColEm 4.3 source code is also available online, but somebody else is doing the PSP port, not me. So you might want to find and nudge that guy.
  16. Answering questions: 1) How to enable SGM? On Linux, use -sgm. On Windows, use "Hardware | Super Game Module" menu. On Android, use "Settings | Emulation | Super Game Module" setting. 2) Does Adam emulation work? Not yet. The firmware generally works, but I am struggling getting AdamNet to work properly. 3) Joystick on Linux? Current version does not support joystick directly, but something like joy2key should work. If you have any questions about ColEm, please, do not hesitate to ask. I will try to answer them in this thread. Marat Fayzullin
  17. The ColEm 4.3 for Android is now out as well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.colem -- free version https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.colem.deluxe -- full version http://garageresearch.aptoide.com/ -- on Aptoide http://android.oms.apps.opera.com/en_us/catalog.php?vendor_id=199556 -- in Opera Store The new version adds Super Game Module (SGM) support, including extended memory and the additional AY8910 sound chip. You will need to enable SGM using "Settings | Emulation | Super Game Module" option. The SGM state is now saved with the rest of ColecoVision state. Finally, restoring background screen color from saved states has been fixed. See below for all the changes. ALL CHANGES: * Released free ColEm 4.3 for Windows and Linux. * Added Super Game Module (SGM) emulation. * Added "Settings | Emulation | Super Game Module" option. * As part of SGM emulation, added AY8910 PSG chip support. * Fixed background color restored from saved state. PS: Android version incorporates a few fixes not found in ColEm 4.3 for Windows/Linux. The SGM state is now saved in the .STA files. I have also fixed the background color not being restored correctly from .STA
