First I created an account and then my own kids would not friend me because they didn't want dad playing their world. Once they did I played for about 30 minutes and never played again. I found the entire game one of the most boring thing ever created. I guess I got spoiled with Fallout and Skyrim.
  2. I just went over a 3 Coleco cartridge deal that they want something like $30 a piece and when you look at all their other sales they turn out to be some thrift store with zero idea of what they have. I had an argument with a manager of my local Good Will that wants to see any game system for $40 regardless of what they are. A WII, PS3, PS2, PS1 and an XBox Classic are all priced the same and they sell each piece separate so if you want controllers and software you are paying even more. The best sales are yard sales but ultimately we are losing out because here in Florida it is "LAW" that all electronics, TV's and what not have to be recycled and some thrift stores no longer take old computers which go in the trash. That means Power Macs, Coleco ADAMS and Commodore Amiga's get tossed unless it goes on EBAY.
  3. I was just on EBay with *******. He had like 5 different Coleco sales going on. I offered to buy every single Coleco item he had just come up with a number. This went back and forth then we came up with a number of around $3 a cartridge for some 64 cartridges where most of them he bought for $1 because the stickers were still on some of them. Tripling his investment. His ultimate backing out was because I told him I want EVERY single cartridge he had including his so called "rare" ones which was Jungle Hunt and Star Trek. 100% of his cartridges where not only the most common with duplicates but are loose, no manual, some bad labels, no boxes. Jungle Hunt and Star Trek are not rare but don't tell him that. He thinks he has a gold mine and to this day he is still trying to sell them. I have a similar story with someone who wants to sell like 11 Donkey Kong cartridges in bad shape but despite having make an offer in their description refuses to take any offer unless it is what they are asking. I made an offer 4 months ago and yesterday... Someone told them that a computer that broke all the time and brought down a successful 56 year old company was actually worth something despite being able to burn your own carts and every single cart known to man is online as well as print your own labels and boxes. I can understand Mint, in Box, CIB, Great Labels, Manuals but lose garbage that you find at Good Will or a yard sale is not gold.
  4. More goodies going through my EBay pick ups. I have been buying bulk carts mainly for the shells. I pick up the crappy looking cart for cheaper than a really nice one, clean the shell and either build a new cart from that with a new EPROM or I can use it for my own personal game. NOW, I am finding Cartridges with EPROMS instead of OTP. Is this common? I have two Gorf's one with 2x OTP and one that has 2x 2763-4 8k Eproms with old, yellowed masking tape. How lucky would it be if it said prototype....But nope, just two old eproms. If anyone can fill in the history that would be cool.
  5. A lot of people have invested business, time, friendships and effort attached to this site so concern does come up. I would recommend donations and/or if you are going to sell an item through Atari Age then you should pay advertising space if not already.
  6. Initial post does not mean changes down the road as desperation sets in. My example of TOSEC is a prime and exact one.
  7. No easy answers... When I was updating TOSEC there was this one guy that was being part of the team because it was sharing the community and keeping the preservation and history alive. Soon after he turned his sharing into a One Fichier that was benign. Then he locked his grip even further and it demanded you turn off the adblocker and then even if you turned that off you are required to watch the ads that ended up sending you to malware sites. Then he demanded that you pay a subscription fee. I know I am rambling on but to get to the point. If it turns into a harassment to read a few blogs or participate in the community then there will be no reason to show up to the party. You have to have a reason to come here. For me I have met a few friends, learned some programing and shared a bit of my life. But if it turns into a shake and bake then??? I really like hanging out here just don't ruin it.
  8. Can I ask that why is it every time I go to look at these source code listings it has to add tons of crap to it instead of just displaying the damn thing. I have tried in two separate browsers FF and Chrome yet it adds garbage such as <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <link rel="dns-prefetch" href="https://assets-cdn.github.com"> <link rel="dns-prefetch" href="https://avatars0.githubusercontent.com"> <link rel="dns-prefetch" href="https://avatars1.githubusercontent.com"> <link rel="dns-prefetch" href="https://avatars2.githubusercontent.com"> <link rel="dns-prefetch" href="https://avatars3.githubusercontent.com"> <link rel="dns-prefetch" href="https://github-cloud.s3.amazonaws.com"> <link rel="dns-prefetch" href="https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/"> Am I supposed to open this in some editor then compile? This really makes it difficult to use 3rd party applications and boxes you into a set style or system.
  9. I taught myself 68000 on the Amiga but once I stepped up to the A1200 and A4000 I found that 68000 could not cut the mustard. Don't get me wrong because it made great demos and some really nice games came from the 68k but to do the advanced stuff you needed more juice. then things got really weird when I picked up the PPC/060 for the A4000 and that's when I just called it quits and went back to C++ on the PC side. I wanted to make some games using C++ on the Amiga but am not about to pay full or any price for that 20 something year old Storm C++ package. Then I looked into the Atari ST and just wasn't impressed. No HD unless it was in 2 colors and after I was used to Amiga I didn't want to go down the ST road.
  10. I received more Coleco Carts off EBay today. I find the best bundle I can at a reasonable price and that have best quality. So today when I opened my box I noticed that two carts were different. Dr. Suess and Victory... Both instruction manuals are double sided in French and English. They both also came with a sticker to relabel the carts in French. Anyone else have this experience?
  11. That reminds me about the time I went to the Bunny Ranch and got a non working, four switch Woody for $50
  12. I know this is Coleco "VISION" auction watch but I had to do this. When building my cartridge library I came across this. Sold by Coleco in 1975. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coleco-1975-Planet-of-the-Apes-Playhouse-5-Feet-Tall-Super-Rare-WOW-LOOK/382057915610?hash=item58f46d24da:g:~-AAAOSw5UZY~2oY Now if this guy can actually get $1200 for what is literally nothing but a cardboard box with a printing of the Planet of the Apes on it then this dude is a better man than me. This is what I call people going crazy. I might buy myself an SSP Crash'em up set or an Evil Knievel Stunt Cycle but when you go this far into nostalgia and collecting is when you deserve to be locked up and force fed lithium.
  13. Another reason why the Atari 5200 was far better than the reviews on Youtube. The same reviews from today's generation just trying to make a buck. The A5200 ROCKED in my opinion and I had several over the years and is still my favorite of the series.
  14. I misspoke, it wasn't elsewhere on this board but it was someone else on this board that PM me. I am doing research on the 4 card edge interfaces of the ADAM, The Smart Writer Roms, the BIOS, OTP's I look at the lack of material out there on the ADAM and am trying to fill in the blanks so anyone can whip something together in order to expand their fun with the ADAM.
  15. I've turned over Mr. Do and Q-Bert Arcade versions at Bally's Alladin Castle 163rd Street Mall when it existed. I finished Dragons Lair with the highest possible score... NONE of it has improved my life, found me a job or gotten me laid. Once I grew up and joined the military is when things started happening.
  16. After a couple of years I appealed the Mortgage company to drop the escrow and I paid my insurance and taxes on my timetable and using the extra money to pay off my mortgage. Now after a few more years our mortgage was paid off and we get to keep every damn cent we make outside of the yearly taxes. There is really no need for homeowners insurance either. There is nothing outside of the entire house burning down that I can't repair and it's been here for over 30 years so I doubt if nature is going to take it. Pay off your house. They tell you not to because they want you to give them money for the next 30 years. We ended up saving over $100K in interest that would have gone to some other ass's pocket. We will live rent free till the end of days. Every extra cent, no entertain, old underwear, no new car, no eating out... Trust when I say it is great being debt free.
  17. What has always bothered me about this game is that when I played it it was on the Colecovision and when I defended MY system of choice this damn game was missing sounds. I am not talking about Obi-Wan or speech...just a simple and random R2D2. This and the controls suck on home systems. Without the yoke stick the game is almost unplayable. And that was my 2 cents.
  18. I found out the info I was looking for answered elsewhere on the site but have no way to delete this post.
  19. I was beat out at $300 If I didn't already have one that is very close to this one I would have kept at it. In all honesty, I just wanted that new Colecovision smell.
  20. Prime Condition, near mint. Already lost 2 bids so far. Maybe you guys will have better luck. It looks legit, never used Colecovision...Small defects in packaging. NOT MINE https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coleco-ColecoVision-Console-Never-used-new-in-box-w-Donkey-Kong/143379613238?epid=109437726&hash=item2162174636:g:LG8AAOSwgWddeELO
  21. Now I can finally get this. I have been waiting a long time now.
  22. Is this guy any legit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHALLENGER-for-Colecovision-ADAM-Cartridge-NEW-CIB-NO-SGM-needed/333324896269?hash=item4d9bb6480d:g:DU4AAOSwLGpddwWr
  23. Old post but this is something I am studying about now for future hardware development. The Smartbasic Rom is the regular Smartbasic from the DDP with a custom cart loader that starts out with AA55, sets up some pointers and then goes on to run SB. I suspect with a small change you can run Logo, ADAM Calc or what not. Maybe CP/M or TDos. All from a rom. I have the Smartbasic 1 Assembly listing. It would be great to have the other OS listings such as Logo and CP/M in order to modify them easier. CP/M is actually a lot easier seeing that the only ADAM part should be the BIOS.
  24. Holy crap when I saw Challenger I thought this was a Space Shuttle port. I didn't know it was the arcade game. It looks great. In all 100% honesty I played this when it first came out at a 7 eleven on NW 119th street in Miami. I even remember what I did that day. That's how much I loved the game.
  25. I'm sure whatever they release will be great. I think it is in 3D or something. The reality, from what I understand, is that, just like many hacks out there, anyone can alter the original Coleco version to change the treasures or whatever and put it into public domain as long as they aren't making money. If people want to start crying fowl then they can be reminded of all the titles they don't own but are selling as we speak. I just don't have the time right now because I have 20 other projects along with remodeling my house.
