Hi Beery, is there a assembly listing like in the E/A on the TI with the Option L and S? I tried to enter a listfile, but the result is a short summary like I see on the Geneve screen. In the manual GenASM.pdf I didn't find an option for a detailed listing.

Today I modified some files for the BBS to translate to German texts and I made some minor corrections in the BBSTEXTSRC file. The BBS works for me perfect and very fast. I does not know if I connect through the internet or my router redirect me direct to my BBS in the local network? Anyway it is fast and I see no error right now. My changed files are in the zip file: AHG0529.zip If you are working on some of these files don't worry, I can make my changes again in your sources. It's not a problem. Wolfgang

Hi Beery, I'm on tipi version 1.61 and since yesterday I discovered, the re-login problem has disappeared. What I did, I've cleaned up all my text files, but I doubt it has anything to do with it.

Don't worry, I'm not a programmer. So I will only do what I understand. And yes, the letters to control the menu's I will not change. Maybe I will add the "J"&"j" to the "Y" for anwering a "yes" (in German="Ja"). The L command I use any time I look for new callers. Sometime it works without garbage and sometimes it includes garbage. Fine you found it.

So, today I managed to get my translated BBS text file "BBSTEXTSRC" running. From now on, my BBS has some (not all) German texts for greeting and calvin feedback. I hope Beery and Greg, you are not confused if you are calling my BBS. The menu's and the controlling is the same as in the Englisch version. I think this is OK so, also for German users. I will work in the other source files about German texts but that is not so much. At first I got a duplicate definition with my BBSTEXTSRC. The assembler told me this at line #44 in the BBS-TBOX file. I found the BBS greeting with the lable "BYMSG1". This lable is new in the file BBS-TBOX. I comment it out in BBSTEXTSRC and all is good. If somebody will have a look to the German program, here it is the program and the sources. AH0527.dsk I have fun with this project. Thank you Beery!

Some of the color foreground / background combinations are not so good readable. Sometimes I see only one color without the screen information. Anyway, the program is working very well. I think tomorrow I will try to assemble a version with German texts. Thank you!

Hi Greg, did you test the filetransfer option? I used Terra Term on the PC logged into the BBS and go to the filetransfer option. Then the system asks for the file, I choosed FORCEFTP The first sector will be transfered and at the end I see 5 times NACK and the sixth time an ACK The BBS tries to send the second record. At this point I get garbage on the screen and after some time the BBS told me to many retries and canceled the transfer. The BBS monitor shows the login message and my Terra Term shows the main menu as hyroglyphs. Something I'm doing wrong for transfering a file. Do we have somewhere a step-by-step description for the file transfer function?

So, my fresh tipi SD card is working fine also with the cron job active and the update of tipi version 1.61 I did your changes but I had no success, even with your sourcefiles and only the changes you described. The BBSSETUP source file I have shows the routine for checking private mail on line 891 to 894. I assume that there was anything added before. It assembles and link without a problem and I can run the program on the TI, but after close, unbind and bind the program shows a user login and asks for a account number. After three minutes there is a unbind and a bind and again the program shows the user login and so on... Do I anything missing?

yes, this I try to do too. But I always remember it after I pressed the wrong key.

Hi Beery, is there a configuration of the keyboard in the Geneve 9640? Or maybe in the mame emulator? Something like KEYB GR in MS-DOS. I use a German keyboard and the keymapping doesn't match.
-
I will make the changes and then test my tranlated texts. Do to the SD card refresh, I think I will do this tomorrow. Thank you.

Hi Beery, this morning I managed to assemble the BBS sources with your ASS-EA batch on the mame Geneve. I used first the modified German text source but on the TI system I get the following error after login: ... The time now is: 10:I/ ERROR=5 Oh crap.. fatal *DSR* error ... So I tried the same with all original source files and the error is the same. Did you make any changes to the sources you provided on saturday, May 16th and Tuesday May 18th. The program is from may 18th. All sources are from May 16th. I have to work on some texts in the German translation. Currently I only changed the file: BBSTEXTSRC. But some other files needs also to translate texts. But first of all I will make a new SD card for my tipi because the tipi is blocking ervery 8 hours or so. Any new login from telnet or from the main monitor to the tipi doesn't work. Also the WIndows share is not available. I think it has to do with the cron or something on the filesystem is broken. If the problem occure, the BBS is running fine and I can have access to the BBS from my PC Telnet and from my ipad telnet too. If I then power cycle the TI and make a CALL TIPI the TI also cannot access the tipi. So I should power cycle the PI what I did every morning in the last day's. What happens if I don't use the change for the cron? Does the BBS this realy need?
-
I had the same trouble last year with my tipi and I could solve the problem with making a new SD-card for the pi.

With Michael Zapf's help, I was able to install MAME. Now I need some time to learn to work with Mame and the Geneve.
-
I will think about it. I tried several times to install mame without success. Only the Gamebase is working, with mess I think. but anyway I will trie it again.
-
@BeeryMiller is there a chance to assemble the complete software on a TI? Maybe I will change the language of the BBS to German. just a thought.
-
I had changed some texts and it seems that all is working now. how can I make a new message group for e.g. German speaking users?
-
With the local login there is no second login loop after logout!
-
Right now I tried the L key from the waiting sysop screen. No login! It is working, I have to press a longer time the L key!! Thank you!
-
I have tested the program version from Tuesday and it happens the same. After logout with G from the main menu the BBS shows the login screen again. So after a BBS session finished the BBS needs 6 minutes to accept the next caller.
-
So now I tried the login from my ipad with iterminal ssh. The same things happens. After a logout (pressing G from main menu) or fctn= from sysop or after timeout the BBS shows the login screen again. I will test this with the files you sent before yesterday, I didn't remember that this happens before today.

I'm use the tipi Telnet program on my TI and the same behavior occure. So I think it has nothing to do with windows.
-
Yes, a "&" from the sysop side cancels the chat. That's fine.
-
Using the BBS: If somebody logged in and the sysop press CTRL+Z to open a chat with the caller it will work. At this time I see nothing to cancel the chat. Not from the user side and not from the sysop side. The only thing I find out was pressing FCTN+= to cancel the connection. Is this so or do we have a command to go back to the main menu from user side or from sysop side?

Hi Beery, I'm still testing the BBS. Now with your program files from yesterday. I'm using the Telnet client from my Windows 10. If I make a call to the BBS and it asks for the user # then I do nothing, the BBS timeouts after about 3 minutes. --> This is OK The Telnet client lost the connection. --> Also OK! Then after about 15 seconds the BBS screen shows the login screen again and ask for the user #. --> This is not OK I think! Then it timeouts again after 3 minutes and the BBS is then waiting for a next caller. The same thing happens when I login with my user #2 wolhess. The system shows the main menu and I do nothing. After 3 minutes the client shows " lost the connection" and the BBS is waiting for the next caller, only about 15 seconds. Then it shows the loging screen again. So I tested this with the tipi Telnet client on my main TI system and get the same results. I seems that the BBS has the caller request in a buffer and works from the buffer input. Maybe you can fix this behavior. You can test this on a faster way too: 1. Call the BBS 2. Press FCTN= from the sysop screen --> the system makes the timeout and shows the unbind, bind status and then the login screen again. 3. Press FCTN= again and it shows again the login screen. : 4. After more than 3 minutes or after three times the sysop was pressing FCTN= the BBS is waiting in a normal way of the next caller!
