When Tandy rebranded the CoCo to sell them outside Radio Shack stores, they created the TDP-100. They also rebadged several rompaks. I believe there are 7 games that have the TDP (Tandy Data Products) box, label, and manual. Here are three that I have. Even within the manuals they say TDP-100s instead of TRS-80 Color Computers.

Do you actually play games on it or just keep it for collector purposes? They really look great, but is the screen too small for gameplay?

True, I see that now. The way it is written in the manual I thought maybe there were CoCo3s with less than 128K. I know there are a few 512k CoCo3 only games.

It was late a 80s development for the CoCo3 (and I believe the games needed 128K)? It was made by a company called Diecom. Sometimes the CoCo3 games look great, but they are slow or buggy or just not fun. But, the phaser games surprised me and they hold up really well.

I played Iron Forest the other day with the Diecom adapter for the Sega phaser. The one I have is not the original one, but a clone (not built by me). The sound and play of the game is great. The gun is pretty accurate. I posted pictures of the adapter and then me shooting. You are supposed to protect your bird, not blow it up like I did. But, it is hard to shoot a phaser and a picture via phone at the same time :-). I don't believe there were many of these made and not many homemade/clone ones either. It's a shame because it is fun to use and there are two good games for it.

If you have a flashcart, my son really likes Caterpillar SOS (Scheduled Oil Sampling), He is only 4 and this and Frog Feast are easily his favorites. Most of the others are just too difficult. He likes the stock Atari joystick best (which makes sense in that it is smaller).

That is so interesting, that is exactly what I saw, it is slightly better through the monitor port (a little crisper). My eyes were not deceiving me, thanks NIAD!

Is there any difference between the video quality of monitor out vs. aux. video out? I just tested both on a 1702 monitor and I think the monitor out is slightly better, but they are very close. However, the aux video out is easier to set-up in that it one cord (the other way I need two, with the aux video out audio only).

I'd really like a Sega Master System phaser. I'd like it loose, but it really good shape (I'm picky). I have a few items to trade or we'll talk cash if it is in nice condition. Thanks for looking!

Is there a checklist somewhere of the originally released Intellivision overlays? I'd like a way to keep track for collecting. The list I use I just realized has a few holes in it and I'd like a complete one. There are sites with great pictures of overlays, lots on variants, and a bunch on the flashback overlays, but I can't find a straightforward check list. Thanks.

I get what the post is saying. I don't like using a controller that wasn't available at the time of the console. For example, something doesn't feel right about using a modded NES controller on a Colecovision. It works well, but for me it takes away from the vintage set-up. I do like getting the crazy high-end controllers for the respective systems that would have been available (like the Starcon for the 5200, the Questar for the Colecovision, etc.) - I would have never been able to get these systems, not to mention these controllers, so it is fun living the luxury experience :-). I guess I lean towards purist gaming, actual system on a vintage monitor or tv with period correct controllers just make for a fun nostalgic experience.

I realize more and more as I get back into the TRS80 CoCo that it plays a big part in why I like the 5200. I grew up with the Coco and the stock non-centering joystick. You learn to use it and come to like it. It is much the same with the 5200. The analog is a different feel, but you come to like it (or at least feel at home with it :-)

If you get a flashcart, the Atari 8-bit conversions are fun. I really like games such as Preppie, Anteater, Satan's Hollow - there are so many.

A member there named Gustavo Ranuar Schoenaker converted/renamed the games from the www.colorcomputerarchive.com/coco/Disks/Games/ to CoCoSDC compatible on 2/22/2015. It is a must-have for the CoCoSDC, works great. The names of the games are redone and ready for the CoCoSDC. Combine these with Ianoid's cheatsheet and you are ready for some CoCo! Yes, Clowns and Balloons and Popcorn should be good. Also, I like the idea of Megabug and DoubleBack. They will like "We Gotcha" in Megabug, the DinoWars roar was a hit .

My kids (ages 4 and 7) were playing the CoCo today. They like Shooting Gallery (you really can't die and you always shoot straight up) and DinoWars. They loved the roar and chasing each other and the bad collision control made it so the younger could keep up with the older. Any other suggestions for CoCo games for kids? Thanks!

They are excellent. They may make you actually prefer the 5200 controller :-)

That's an idea, I could download them on a flash-drive and then they would be searchable.
