RangerG replied to cparsley's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
25,750 I started a game by accident after I made the score, but it's the high score shown here, so I got the picture. That's perfectly fine RangerG RockOn!!! (line added by cparsley) -

Adam's are better than the Colecovision console in my opinion. They are tougher and come with a/v. You can dump the printer and get a power supply on here, and you are set for Colecovision games - recommended set-up.

6210 The graphics on this one are nice, but I see why they said "numb thumb." -
I love Tutankhan, and I have the controller. I need to check it out!

Yes NIAD, that's the one, by DJUBBA. It's pretty easy to pop the Adam case and turn the cord connector that faces out to have it face in (so the power supply sits in the Adam). Yes, I only use the Adam for playing Colecovision games, so I took out drives. It just seems to me from taking the Adam apart that they are built like tanks compared to the Colecovision. I really like it and the sticker on the lid says the "The Colecovision Family Computer System" so it fits right in with the retro consoles. Also, the A/V out is a clear step-up from the Colecovision.

I do like the Canadian power supply better, and I used one when I had a U.S. version Colecovision. However, I gave up on Colecovision consoles. In my opinion, they are pretty unreliable - I think I went through three befor getting an Adam. I highly recommend the Adam to play Colecovision games. The native a/v out is great, they are built tough, and they tend to be in much better shape than Colecovisions. I bought one of the arcade power supplies sold on the boards here and it sits right in the big space in the Adam under the cover.

To answer a pm: The keypad and y-cable work great with either an Atari 7800 controller, Colecovision controller, or NES (or other controller) modded to work with the 7800 or Colecovision (like what GoldenAxe makes and sells).
-
I have for sale the champ keypad and controller knob. Everything is in great shape, clean and working. The knob and top part of the case should fit on your stock joystick. I believe it is one from Yurkie on here. The champ keypad is the one button one, but with the y-cable and attached piece (see pic) both buttons work when a controller is connected. $49 for everything with free shipping - pm me

149,200 Doing better. I died with so many honeypots on the screen :-(. -
Yes, just loosen up the screws if you have that oily stuff. You may need to open the back and loosen the screws from the back. That's what I did and it is gone now.
-
If you want to take your controller apart, use a Robertson screwdriver. The front screws use a #1 and the back #2. You won't slip and scratch up your controller this way. These are evidently common in Canada.

I think one of the problems is that people got the stick without a cable. They were hyped up to play and then they just stare at the stick and start to notice imperfections. It's like buying a new Corvette, but you have no access to gasoline for a week :-). Once you use the controller, it is smooth. It makes you want to fire up the machine. The suction cups work great. I like the pass-through on the back. I have a Champ keypad (the less valuable one button kind). You can plug it into the back and then actually insert the overlays. I hope someone releases a game to use the buttons on the side or modifies some roms to use them. They are great.

Hover Force 3-D Still Possible?
RangerG replied to IntellivisionGuy97's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
There has been a run on Valiant Vision Starter Kits on Ebay :-). I know I bought one. Has anyone tried the glasses with the Hover-Force 3-D proto rom discussed earlier in the thread? Are there any differences. -
I missed this thread. I put the demo on my AtariMax SD and it works great. I don't see the issues with the scrolling. Check out Tutankham for the Colecovision for bad scrolling. Email will be sent for pre-order.

Coleco Adam Big Dog Combo set - What do you guys think?
RangerG replied to playazclub's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
That's a great find. Trying to sell that beast would kill you with shipping and trying to pack it up. It would be something to sell pick-up or drive it to a convention or meet and sell/auction it. It looks great sitting on the shelf. There can't be any bigger system-in-box in classic gaming history (all videogame history for that matter). Is there? I picked up a blue box once at a flea market, this one looks even bigger? The red box set-up is such an odd combination: a Colecovision with the Exp. #3 and all the computer items. Who would ever want that? That's why it is rare and they were most likely trying to get rid of inventory. If you had a Colecovision, you'd get the expansion module alone. If you wanted a computer, you'd buy the computer with the bonus of playing Colecovision games with a/v. This is a crazy monster :-).
