RangerG replied to MegaManFan's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
MMF -- I just sent you a PM because I found two of the games from your list at the store today (I also bought a few good deals . Did you get my e-mail about the magazine with the MM2 article? I'll save it for you and send it to you if and when we ever trade/buy if you want it. I should of sent it with the Zaxxon cart, but I forgot I had it. Take care, RG -
Nintendo Games Wanted (loose or complete) REVISED
RangerG replied to MegaManFan's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
MMF (Steve), I sent you an e-mail a couple of weeks ago with my trade list (it had at least two games you wanted) and some games I ws interested from your list. I sent the list out of the blue so you might of not noticed it or just not responded. Doesn't matter -- I will resend both. Also, I'm going to a game store this weekend that has lots of NES games so I will bring your list. Take care, RG -
I bought 30 loose Sega CD gameslast weekend really cheap at the flea market. Some of the games are pretty good (Sonic CD, Batman Returns, Android Assault, etc.), but some of these are games are the weirdest, slowest games I have ever seen. I played Corpse Killer Sega CD 32X, Willy Beamish and Sewer Shark. I had never played Full Motion Video games. The idea seems really fun, but the execution of it is so lacking. I assume this style of game died out or evolved? Some real stinkers in my opinion, but every system has them. Are there any good FMV games because, like I said, the style is different and enjoyable, but the gameplay drags?

Favorite and Most despised Contollers of all time?
RangerG replied to z28in82's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Would someone please explain to me why they like the Intellivision disc? I really think the Intellivision has some good games and it has great nostalgia factor, but my thumbs just can't take the discs. If you like/tolerate them, did you get used to them as a kid or when the machine was popular back in the day? I have the INTV II, but are the INTV discs any better? I vote the Intellivision discs easily the worst. They look cool and I want to use them, but they just really detract from the system. By the way, I agree with many about the 5200 sticks. They are a royal pain to fix and keep working, but it is unfair to call them one of the most uncomfortable. The firebuttons may be one of the worst, but the actual joystick movement is smooth and the stick fits nicely in the hand. -
I love the name!

Ever Buy An Atari System On Launch Day?
RangerG replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
With the Sears Intellivisions and 2600s cool collectible items, we should have thought of Sears, but I wouldn't have known to go there - good tip! -
I finally got WarioWare. My parents took my wife and I on a short 4th of July cruise so I bought one game to bring with me. Well - it was 100% worth it. It is so addictive and quirky. I'm a very average gameplayer so the difficulty factor is perfect for me (I can see how it might be too easy for game pros). Recommended!

I had MegaBug as a kid and I loved playing it. It is good Pac-man clone and the magnifying glass adds an extra element to the game.

Idea Revolutions, I seriously think you all need a logo. I for one would buy a nice Idea Revolutions shirt or cap or coffee mug. They could be stocked in the AA store and all proceeds would of course go back into your company for development costs and overhead (I see you are expanding). Honestly, you guys are great. Keep up the ideas and do know you may the butt of jokes, but you aren't pains like some other trolls around here. Let's here it for the IR team!

I hope you get it all working. When you have the Genesis, 32X and Sega Cd player all hooked up it sure looks like a fire waiting to happen . It all works, but it sure looks funny (almost as bad as the big Atari 2600 adaptor sticking out if the Atari 5200. By the way, in the box was a CD back-up ram cart -- what exactly does this do? I still love the CDX. It seems like it also plays like a regular CD player. I wonder if I could hook up the Supercharger to it and play the Stella Gets a New Brain disc - hmm! Well - it is back to playing Batman Returns -- fun game!

I had a Sega day at the flea market today. I paid a lot ($50) but I brought home some good stuff. I got a box of Sega stuff from a guy (Sega Genesis and controllers, 32X, Sega CD player, 25 loose Sega CD games, multiple controller adaptor and a Konami gun. Everything works great and the games are pretty fun. However, the best part is that in the box was a Sega CDX. It is a Sega Genesis and Sega CD in one and it is compact and so cool looking. I never knew this existed, but I am glad I bought it.

I actually got a pm about the Spacechase and hopefully we will work out a trade. Racquetball anyone?

WTB (or trade): Worship the Woodgrain CD set
RangerG replied to RangerG's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Lee got in touch with me. Taken care of! Thank you! -
VGA -- Good idea! The SpaceChase is the blue label and the Racquetball is orange (I think the only variation). I will keep these in case I luck up like you almost did and find a cart with a label upgrade. Thanks! - RG
-
I know this is highly unlikely, but does anyone have end labels for Space Chase or Racquetball or maybe carts with really poor main labels, but good end labels that they would want to trade. I found these carts this weekend and they have mint labels, but somewhere along the line the end labels fell off . Thanks for looking! -- RG

WTB (or trade): Worship the Woodgrain CD set
RangerG replied to RangerG's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I just wanted to bump this to see if anyone found an answer for my original question although I assume WTW is no longer available. Again - anyone willing to burn CDs for me and copy the game list or sell/trade their set? I honestly have a decent trade list I'll e-mail you (I even added boxed complete near mint 2600 Sentinel and 5200 Zaxxon cart this weekend to it) or we can talk cash. Take care, RG -
The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
RangerG replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I found 5200 Zaxxon ($2), 2600 Wall Ball ($3) and 2600 Sentinel (boxed, mint) ($3) and six other 2600 game that I don't have. These officially put me over the 200 mark (all have been found in the wild!). It was a really good day for me and I am thankful the wife lets me stop at flea markets on road trips . -
I have a gamebrain and I use it frequently and I have never had any problem with static. I tool it apart and cleaned it really well when I first got it so maybe that helped.

WTB (or trade): Worship the Woodgrain CD set
RangerG replied to RangerG's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Thanks Rick! -
I finally got around to hooking up my Supercharger this week and trying out my Stella Gets a New Brain Cd. It is so fun and easy to use. I checked old topics and I can't figure out if the Worship the Woodgrain Cd set is still sold. I know the Cuttle Cart Underground CD set is not and that the Stella Gets a New Brain is still available from Randy at Hozer. I suspect the Worship the Woodgrain set is not available because I have e-mailed the website (two weeks ago and this morning) and I get no response. Thus -- is this set for sale anywhere? Does anyone have one they want to sell or trade? If none are available, would anyone that has one be willing to burn me the four CDs and make a copy of the game list? I will pay (via Paypal or other method) or trade. PM me with how much this would cost or if you want to look at my trade list and I'll send it to you. I have good feedback at Ebay and I am on the good trader list here. Thank you! -- RG

14 New ColecoVision Games at Classic Gaming Expo
RangerG replied to digitalpress's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Thomas -- You wrote a really good reply and I think you bring up some excellent points. The easier it gets to program and hack the more potential you have for low-quality homebrew games. It is fair to judge games and to realize that a game like Koffi for the 5200 or your Thrust was a massive undertaking compared to another Space Invaders hack. I think this thread should be used constructively to decide that it is ok to judge homebrews, but that it needs to be done with some sense of civility and the knowledge that this is a community. I absolutely don't want censorship or someone not allowed to be a moderator because they have an opinion; however, encouraging constructive criticism (and not bashing) should be the norm. -- RG -
Intellivision II Better Looking than Original?
RangerG replied to ussexplorer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The INTV II controllers are cheap, but I love having the long cord on them. That was an upgrade. -
Hey -- this is the 5200 forum and you got to expect a little support and excitement for the big beast. I know the 7800 has better graphics than the 5200, but the 5200 tends to be a more nostalgic system for many. It came before the crash and complimented/competed with the Atari 2600. The 7800 feels like (to me) it belongs in the NES era competing with the SMS and the NES and so it doesn't have as much of the classic feel (it doesn't help that many of the 7800 games and 7800 manuals were done when Atari was obviously in tough times and had to scrimp on packaging and even color). For me the Atari 5200 is like the older brother of the 2600. It was the high-end Atari system that many with the 2600 couldn't afford back then (and that is part of what makes it so fun to own one now!) The 5200 represents the apex of Atari in some ways (pre-crash promise) that fought against a worthy rival (the Colecovision) while the 7800 was a good system that was beaten in sales by two other rivals while Atari was declining in popularity. Well - that's why I like the 5200 so much and why even though I know I could get a XEGS or 800XL and play basically all the 5200 games and many more, it just doesn't have the nostalgia factor for me.
-
Mr. Retrogamer isn't lying or trying to win the auction. He has a great collection of CV and 5200 sticks. The Wico Colecovision stick is not good. The only 3rd party CV stick I have used and liked is one by Spectravision. I might like the small Amiga one because I love the 2600 one, but I have never found one.

RangerG replied to RangerG's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The first link has a nice section on the INTV II controllers. I will need to be very careful. Thanks surfmadness!
