Skywalker2000 -- You still have a valuable commodity. Look here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8&category=1250 Would you pay $70 + shipping for a broken masterplay?
-
I'll check the wires again like you both said (how would I use a multimeter?). I will take it apart and do it later in the week because I'm swamped with work the next few days. I'll post if I find anything or if I need more help -- thanks for the replies!
-
I didn't see any broken wires in the controller, but I'll open it up and check again tomorrow after work. On River Raid, I can't even start because the plane flies into the side in about 2 seconds. I've taken apart and cleaned Wicos before and I know this one is acting unusual. Thanks for the reply Rob!

I just got through testing my Wico sticks and one is not working correctly. For example, on River Raid and Galaxian the ship always veers to the right. I have taken the stick apart, cleaned it, tested it while apart and still no luck. This is usually fixed easily by adjusting the side switches, but it is like this stick is stuck going right and the switch doesn't even bother it. Any ideas from the 5200 experts out there?

I bid on it, but I dropped out at around $130. By the way, if anyone has a Masterplay and wants to trade, I'm willing to trade. I have a perfectly working Wico keypad and Wico stick, a nice working heavy sixer, a nice working SMS and games, about 25 rare NES games, and a Saturn case. I know it's nothing really rare, but I'm willing to make a fair trade and/or trade something and add cash. I have traded with several members here and have great Ebay feedback!

No it doesn't have the y splitter, but it doesn't need it with the keypad. The Wico stick 9 pin fits right into the keypad. However, an extra y cord would have been nice to sell or trade.

Mr. Retrogamer -- I thought they had two sets, but now I'm not so sure because mine looks just like the one in the picture. Maybe the first bidder backed out when he/she found out the seller doesn't take electronic payment. I don't know -- I'm just happy to have another keypad hooked up to the 5200.

I bid on this auction and was not the top bidder http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7&category=1250, but they offered it to me via second-chance Ebay and I bought it. I think I got a pretty good deal for both a joystick and keypad ($51). The package came yesterday and both work great (and I am happy). I am never happy with an Ebay purchase until I have it in my hand and I have tested it completely. I thought fellow 5200 fans would appreciate the purchase! Time to go play 5200 Joust

DinoWars and MegaBug kick butt!

I finally had a nice find today. I only want nice labels and I am approaching the big 200 cart mark where it seems wild finds really slow. Nevertheles, I got both Space War labels, Boxing and Winter Games. I also picked up some Intellivision game I didn't have: Reversi, AD&D, Soccer, Word Fun, Lock and Chase and Atlantis. I also got a boxed with manual cart of the pretty rare Genesis game Joshua (a Wisdom Tree title). The carts were all $3 each which is a little high, but I don't mind when it's games I don't have and I'm a terrible bargainer. It was great to have a find (just eyeing a box of Atari and getting to dig through is fun as visions of possible Waterworlds race through my head

The Greatness of the Sega Master System
RangerG replied to King Atari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I found the SMS 3D glasses at Goodwill several months ago, but I have yet to find a 3D game. Can I test them without a game? Does anyone have an extra 3D game they would like to trade? I don't have much, but I'd trade F-18 Hornet (Atari 7800) or NES games like DK Classics; boxed, complete mint Zelda II; Loopz; Lolo 3; MegaMan 3; or one of a variety of Wisdom Tree titles. Just send me a private message if interested! -
Let's let poor Cupcakus finish the 2600 project first before we start him on a flashcart for the TRS-80 color computer . I can't wait to see the final project. Cupcackus -- just try to make it simple enough for us non-techies to use. Good luck!

Game you never figured out the point of?
RangerG replied to Foxy Cleopatra's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It's Fathom for me. I know I need to look at the instructions, but I have before and I still get confused about when and how to change from a fish to a bird to a something and then why am I searching for pieces of a trident?? I know this games has its fans, but how long does it take to finish and do you then just start over? I don't get it -- maybe I'm just a simpleton -
Curt -- I agree that the Star Ship label is really odd. When I found one many months ago, I immediately posted on AA because I thought it was a pirate cart. Several people quickly assured me it was legit and I had already checked it with the AA scans. It's a weird one!

From the Atari to the Xbox: a Descent Into Console Hell
RangerG replied to NE146's topic in Atari 2600
Where's the article? I clock on the news forum on the side, then January 2003, then the title of the article "Atari to Xbox etc." and thus it goes to a page with a huge fat kid with his shirt off and lots of stretch marks on his belly and it says page error. I refuse to look at that kid again -- RG -
What do you mean by verifying sellers or checking with them? I am not a big-time Ebay seller, but I've had about 40 auctions and it does scare me to see 0 or even negative feedback bidders bidding, but what can one do? I know you can say negative feedback bidders can't bid (and that seems fair and a good policy), but we were all 0 feedback bidders once, so I hate to say no bidding to them. Thus -- what do you ask them to verify or say? Thanks -- RG

Cupcakus -- I hope all is going well with the Flashcart. Maybe you can plan a PhillyClassic release? With CuttleCarts breaking $300 on Ebay, I think you can put together a quality product and people will be willing to pay for it. Best of luck!!! -- RG

I saw that last night and doubted it. I looked up the model # he describes and found a picture of it -- it is a modern PC stick.

King's Quest was a fantastic game. I remember playing it at my cousin's house until we finished it on his IBM PC Jr. My cousin got an Atari 2600 with tons of games then an Atari 5200 as soon as it came out and then an IBM PC. Jr as soon as it came out. I always asked my parents for a videogame console and I finally got a (drumroll please) TRS-80 color computer one and then I saved my mowing money and bought a few games like Popcorn and DinoWars. No jealousy here

Why is this post now so stretched to the right and hard to read. I have seen this happen many times before on the boards, but I never understand why it happens. It is so annoying to read. I just noticed it after I sent my message. Did I do it somehow?
-
Chris -- I like the idea, but I don't understand how it would be done. Would we send you our system or would you sell us something to install? Best of luck! -- RG

WOW! Great work Eduardo! Any way you could also speed Mario up? It is impressive that you can program the Colecovision. Is it harder than the 2600 to work with? Take care, RangerG

Opcode -- Thanks for at least considering it!

There is a great review of the Super DK hack here: http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/sdk.htm This even talks about how the Colecovision DK only uses 1/2 the available space. It would be great to have a complete DK (and faster!!) for the Colecovision. Does anyone else think DK and DK Jr. are just too slow on the Colecovision?
-
I know that there is a Colecovision game hack of the Super Donkey Kong tape that was available for the Adam. Who made this and where if anywhere could this be found? Also, I read that the game is much better than the regular Colecovision game (with intermissions, better graohics), but that the added level is missing collision control and thus really not finished. Would/could (please) this ever be a homebrew project for a Colecovision programmer i.e. finish this hack and polish it up and thus make the Colecovision have a true top-notch Donkey Kong game. The Colecovision one now is slow, has no intermissions, and it is just sad to know how much better it could have been (especially when Donkey Kong is so linked to the Colecovision). After this project, there is always DK Jr. to improve . Just some though/hopes! I know Eduardo posts on these boards and I think he is a Colecovision expert/programmer.
