  1. I often like the vocals to sit in the mix even with the other instruments, so that the voice becomes like another instrument. Although I think our vocals are actually more intelligable than some of the influences I'm drawing on (like My Bloody Valentine's Loveless). If you want a copy of the lyrics, I can email them to you: paul at treewave dot com -paul
  2. Yeah, Jr. Pac Man is a superchip game. Might want to get a copy of Kevin Horton's sizes.txt file that shows what games use what kind of hardware. -paul

    Qb

I have the ROMs that were on the Qb distribution page. I just posted them on the Xype website: http://www.qotile.net/xype/qb.html -paul
  4. Nah, the beat data and text data take up too much space.
  5. That's awesome! I've never seen that. Still no reviews of the Synthcart! -paul
  6. Ha, I guess that's true. Although when we play live, as far as what we actually play, on many songs each of us play a Commodore 64 (we have two C64s). So it's kind of accurate. About the printer: 3 of the songs use the printer quite a bit (including Sleep). But they are not printer samples, the printer is actually programmed with sequences which are recorded in realtime. -paul
  7. Yeah, I've had way too much going on lately, but I plan on starting serious work on the game again this week. I'll post some updates in the next few weeks when I have more to show. -paul
  8. Sorry, my friend got his dates mixed up and so that got me all mixed up too. We are playing SUNDAY night (the 20th), not tomorrow night. Unfortunately, we're driving down to austin tomorrow and I don't think we're going to make it in time for the get together. -paul
  9. That's definitely a Famicom clone. I found a similar clone a couple of weeks ago at a thrift. But on mine the colors are the same as a real Famicom. I've got a pirate multicart like that too. It's great because it's got many of the best NES games on it. -paul
  10. BTW: You might start an email list for people who are interested in an Austin classic gaming get-togethers. I don't check this forum very often. If you do, my email is: paul at treewave dot com.
  11. Ha, I didn't even notice this until now. Well, I'm going to be in Austin anyway this weekend, but I've got a lot to do so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it. I'll try though. But my band is playing that night at Spider House!! We do music using an Atari 2600, C64, Compaq 286, and Epson dot matrix printer. More info here: http://www.treewave.com -paul
  12. As long as Randy's marking my games in his catalog as "will not make" then I really don't care. If he makes a Marble Craze or Synthcart here and there for a buddy, no big deal. I can't imagine that would be more than 3-4 carts. Not worth my time worrying about it. -paul
  13. This temporary list is just running on my existing web hosting account for my own webpages, so it doesn't cost me anything. The original [stella] list costs nothing (not sure how we ended up getting it for free) but that's why it's taking a while to get back up. Biglist fixes paying customers first. The service normally starts at $40 a month according to their price guide! -paul
  14. I've created a temporary stella list. I added everyone that's posted multiple times in the last several months. Lurkers can join here: http://qotile.net/mailman/listinfo/stella_...temp_qotile.net -paul
  15. Yeah, I'll definitely make a backup install folder now. I just figured all the files would be on Chad's site and they'd be updated frequently at first anyway. Everything's on there except the bankswitching files. -paul
  16. Got the files. Thanks Brad. -paul
  17. Can someone zap the the zipped bankswitching files? I accidentally trashed the folder on my MMC and I have no idea what I did with the install disk! mailto: paul at treewave dot com thanks, -paul
  18. It means that from a software perspective, the B&W/Color switch bit is hardwired to B&W. There's still a working B&W/color switch on the console, but it's somehow is hooked up directly to the video output and selects a B&W color palette when you set it to the B&W position, and it doesn't affect the bit that's normally associated with this switch. -paul
  19. So are some of the B&W/Color switches on all SECAM consoles different from NTSC consoles? A Synthcart user told me when he switches it to B&W, the picture actually changes to black & white. But the Synthcart doesn't support this, so it must be a hardware B&W switch? Is there a hack to install a proper B&W switch? -paul
  20. Any progress on this? Maybe it's time to start looking for a new host for the list. My web hosting account (@ehostpros.com) includes mailing list support and you can get it for only $5 a month. It doesn't include the ability to search the archives, but I use Google to search [stella] anyway. Any other ideas? -paul
  21. Off pretty much any keyboard or music generating device or video game system. You can probably find some samples of the waveforms on google. Does the platform you're developing for not have any built in tones? Like general MIDI sounds? If so, it should have sounds with those waveforms. -paul
  22. Probably don't need samples. Just compose the music using 3 square wave or triangle wave voices and a noise channel for drums and it'll sound a lot like vintage gaming soundtracks. Use arpeggios instead of chords and lots of vibrato. -paul
